  • In this video, I give many sound examples of the Behringer GDI 21.
Along with a gain sweep of every possible combination for amp + mod + mic, I also give sound examples of the GDI 21 used in the front of an amp, a short demo song and then some extra sound samples.

They stopped making this pedal a while ago but the Behringer TM300 Tube Amp Modeler-pedal is the identical unit in a different housing. I have both and they absolutely sound the same.

Nice one !! i bet it took a lot of time to make this video but you give all the base sounds one needs to hear to make the decision if one likes it or not . i was afraid it would not be good for thrash metal and death metal but it is good enaughf for the money !! thank you i will buy it !

Much appreciated. Yes, it took a little bit extra for this video. Amazing pedal/device, especially for the money.

Crazy in depth video for a sub $40 pedal. I have one and like it. I wish you could disable the EQ-like cab sim.

Yes, amazing how many variations there are in this pedal and I agree 100%, I wish I could disable the EQ-like cab sim.

@@Tone-Quest I did look up the circuit diagram online and it does looks like you could bypass the entire section...the question is it's even worth it. I do think it sounds pretty good in front of the amp as a distortion pedal as well.

@@wootks interesting but good question about it being worth it. I’ve pondered about getting a V-amp, assuming the GDI 21 and the V-amp are based on the same technology.

@@Tone-Quest from what it seems like the Behringer is a clone/copy of that pedal for the most part. Wonder if you could hear any difference.
Makes the Behringer a nice try before you buy the “real thing.”

What is the polarity of Behringer Vtone GDi?

The 9v jack is center negative.

@@Tone-Quest if i am using a Mosky Dc Core 10 power supply what number should i put the cable? Thanks for responding

@@Odium13 If I found the correct powers supply, any of the 1-8 connections should work, which should be 9 volts DC with the center pole being negative.

Does anybody know if cabinet sim is active only on xlr out, or both outputs?

I would say probably not, I think it is more suited for home practice and/or recording.

If you’re using XLR to go direct to the mixer it kind of sucks on anything but the Tweed/clean setting…but I’ve seen people get great metal tones using it in front of a clean amp. In a pinch it’ll work, but I wouldn’t rely on it as my main source of tone.
