I know I remember I was exactly 8 years old(2008) when I first heard and saw a lightning in person and 2 months before I turned 20 I got myself my dream truck!
I had an 03 hd f150 with a 4/6 drop on factory rep 22s. Such a clean truck and went door to door with my friends c6 vette (he would pull slowly above 70ish). Now I have a built motor Lightning with a 90mm turbo. Almost done with the build. Hopefully make at least 1000whp. Absolutely love these trucks since the first time I saw one.

I’m never going to sell my 2000 SVT lightning. Build number 144 out of 4966 in 2000. It was my daily for many many years and it has never let me down with not a single break down. The most reliable vehicle I have ever have the pleasure of owning 💯 Plus it just looks so damn great side by side in my garage with my 2016 GT premium 📠🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

How you find of which # my lightning is?
I thought I was the shit in my 78 Cutlass Wagon with a v8 back in the day...had some minor mods and a rochester quadrajet with mechanical secondaries, but I didnt really know shit about cars back then and it was a smog era v8. Got absolutely destroyed in a roll race by a Lightning.
I have a 02 True Blue Lightning. My main issue with it was sending the #6 Spark Plug to Heaven (along with the corresponding coil and $2k+ of my wallet)
I would kill for a SVT Lightning
SVT Whines I pretty much sold my soul when i bought mine many many years ago. Worked over 60+ hours a week when gas was $5.00 a gallon to keep it. It was tough as hell but that truck became my daily and I worked my ass off to keep it and paid it off within 2 years. Never plan on selling it. Way to much history now with it. That truck got me through a lot of hard times 💯 But the sad thing is they are starting to get really rare being people keep crashing them and one just burned to the ground a few weeks ago while showing off doing a burnout.. so sad... only 28,124 were made world wide from 99-2004.

Baja mode is also 4 wheel drive and massive torque but , that lightning was spinning , hard to hook up unless it had tires 💯
The Lightning has aged well, it's an instant Classic..

The 2000 L was the "Early" truck. The 2001-2004 L was a different beast unless you upgraded the early ones. I bought a 1999 way back in March of 2000 (One of the first white ones built). Still have it. Over the years, I have spent the price of the truck again on mods and paint. But...It is still my DD. At $34,800 back in 2000, I could have had my choice of almost anything.

I wonder if the Raptor sans crew cab, just going with the extended cab, would be enough of a weight drop to equalize these two. The Raptor has a lot more weight to it but the performance is insanely good. Maybe it doesn’t make a big difference but I’m curious to see if the Raptor keeps up better with less weight.
Ford def could do better on the wheels on the Raptor. Btw the 01-04 Lightning are a bit quicker especially once modded. Id like to see a full bolt on pullied tuned 01-04 Lightning with a tire vs your Raptor with intake exhaust and tune.

Should have done a 2001-2004 with stock 385HP they only did 360hp for one year. Yeah I know Lightning’s I should I’ve owned them. First Gen and Second Gen.

That’s a 99-2000 lightning there the slowest they run 14.5 THE 2001-2004 have different gears and better airflow they run 13.7-13.8 1/4 mile

I work at the plant where we built all the Lightnings.. I bought a 2001 right after 911, when they went on sale.. Kept it around for like 11 years and then sold it.. Ironically I saw one in the parking lot today when I went to work.

Race my raptor a lot any time you race always use BaJA mode and boost launch it to 2800. I raced modded lightning and 600 plus hp srt10 and beat the srt10 3 times and lightning got me by 1/10th at the track.
I remember seeing 360HP and thinking wow, when the lightning came out
that was a big deal for the time! they are still cool and so easily made faster
Good for the time but the Silverado ss and the Sierra Denali got way more potential 30hp from the 6.0 but just a bolt on way more powerr

Had a 2002 Lightning. It was very fun but also a money pit. To bad u live to far away @StangMode. I have a 4door 2012 Titan I call my factory freak that we could run against that raptor lol. Obviously he has the money to keep the lightning updated if he has a gt500 built but once its past 60000 miles shit starts happening lol. Like cylinder 6 spark plug shooting out and taking the threads with it. That was a $550 job.

The SVT lightning was faster, more visceral and so much feedback . Faster for sure
After the new F150 Lightening Electric and the Mach-E no one will hate Ford again. They have showed adaptability like no other through a pandemic, this is a serious company! While others stay conservative and show no innovation. Adaptability is the key to survive in uncertain waters like these brought on by Covid!
I love the raptor
The Lightning is a street rod style truck that weighs a lot less than the Raptor which is a trophy truck style vehicle built for off roading. The raptor is sneaky fast because it's lacking the loud exhaust. From a roll. The weight, Awd and gearing limits the Raptor against the lightning. Take the Lightning off-road and it's no contest against the Raptor. Two great, but completely different Ford trucks.
Ford should definitely bring back the Lightning. I love my Gen 1, but it's hard to beat the looks of the Gen 2 Raptor. Awesome video and fresh new look my dude!

The 5.4L supercharged svt lightning are some bad 'a' trucks ford did a great job with that platform it is still one of my favorite trucks but the Raptor is on a whole new level of bad 'a' I think it would be cool if ford maybe considered a Raptor suv
