And of course Blossom is actually assaulting the old lady, because the writers are actively trying to make these protagonists as unlikeable as possible.
Blossom losing her shit at some random Townsville citizen reminds me that this show didn't have villains and so has to make the citizens villains instead. Also, Kids Next Door did it.
Because Buttercup is getting her own original art style, this whole idea in general feels very uneven. If I would have written this episode I would have given all three girls their own different animation styles or do not give them one in the first place.
I would have that each would have their own style. Buttercup would have the noir setting as she's exaggerating what's going on. Which I would resolve with her getting into a fight with another customer because they reach for the same jar of jelly and the struggle resulted in the jar getting broken, but there was plenty more to chose from so they just shrug it off and get another jar. Bubbles would result in a all-out cereal war that she would resolve. Then for Blossum I would exaggerate that the lady had 116 items at a 16 item check outline. None of the employees really care and then Blossum decides to pass the time by imagining that the lady was a witch and their fight was a means for Blossom to distract herself from the long wait. In truth, the lady didn't realize she was at an express checkout and she only went there because it was the closest one to the exit.

You know I think this episode could've been really good if they had just completely removed the whole alien's taking over earth subplot because there didn't really feel like there were any real stakes in the overall narrative. They could've easily made the episode about the girl's going out shopping and getting ingredients to make the "perfect" cake for the professor or something and make it so they all separate to get certain ingredients only reuniting at the end of the episode when they've retrieved all of their respective the ingredients. I do like the idea of all of them having their own stories, but the end result is just a contrived mess and isn't as fleshed out as it could be from a writing standpoint. For instance, I think it would've been better if they had given Blossom and Bubble's their own art style too like maybe Bubble's could have an art sequence that's a parody of a cereal commercial and Blossom probably could've had an art style that parody's Link and the Legend of Zelda or something. One cartoon that I think of that executed this concept better was the KND episode "Operation: R.E.P.O.R.T". It kind of had a similar setup with all of the characters having their own little story in a certain art style that parodies other shows and media. Granted the only difference between this episode and that episode was that in "Operation: R.E.P.O.R.T" the story was a lot more linear and the characters had enough time for their stories to be fleshed out.

I just realized...they could the same concept, but they could be creative fact that they are superheroes...having buttercup fly at high speed looking for a example in jelly in all the markets. And then add more 2 crazy stories full of adventure and we have a good episode.
It’s funny, Kids Next Door had Operation: MUNCHIES, which also involved the supermarket as the central location for the plot. The only difference is that while this episode is rather boring and inconsistent, that one was action packed and intense, due to there only being one box of the rainbow munchies cereal left. Not only do we get to see the KND in action, but several villains also partake in obtaining the sugary cereal! The only bad thing about the episode is that Father is no longer seen as the threatening antagonist he was in season one. But I will let it slide because the episode itself is fantastic! Could've been an episode where it's alien that have a cooking show where if the food isn't up their taste, they destroy the planet. The leader alien could be a pun on food or Gordon Ramsey's name.
Montage of Townsville shopping for food items To cook for the aliens.
One of the main chat could secretly or openly want to become a chef (your choice)
Montage of the Powerpuff girls punching food (kneading dough, cracking eggs in a bowl, innuendo w/ meat that somehow gets past censors. idk)
The leader alien eats the food of the chosen character's dish and leave.
And that was all off the top of my head. With a little revision it'll be a decent episode. But who am I kidding, they couldn't do that for 3 seasons.
12:30 that gif.....feels sisyphean in nature x.x
I love this series :3
Blossom, just fly up push the cashier a side and using her super speed powers to ring her up quicker. The original wasn't this stupid.
In your review of electric buttercup - pyre is referring to a funeral pyre and not a vampire- I recently discovered your channel and have been watching your reviews, great content!
Well it was established since the beginning that this version of the PPG was going to be slice of life instead of action filled superhero battles.
Blossom is a half Karen in this episode.
lol
Hey remember the last time aliens invaded townsville and the PPGs and all the kids had to eat them to beat them? Yeah me neither.
Happy Holidays
So few left now!
That alien reminded me of vilgax
9:05-9:10 Just imagine Bubbles and The Professor is at the toy store.
I feel like Regular Show could do a plot like this and maybe execute it better by having the duo need to get groceries for a demon
Kinda disappointed because Bubbles had the best sequence in the Squashening.
True
Maybe the peanut butter is a customer and and the goons are like his family or people that also want the jelly too
Nice review, dude!
Also yes I hate shopping too😅 but I keep going for the sake of the holidays
did they really use mojos voice actor for the alien? it sounded exactly like him
I'm craving jelly and bbq sauce covered meatballs now.
I dare you to combine them 😝
How did it taste?
@@HackiePuffs I've tried them before. They're pretty good.
@@gkgk6439 Pretty good
Wait, so all the characters really were hallucinating? I came up with that theory at the beginning of the video as a joke!
But Shadow, what if broccoli aliens had invaded when you were a grocery shopping hating kid?
I've watched this episode long time ago and i it cringed me out, but if you say so
20 HOURS LATE SQUAD WHERE YOU AT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
The golf episode of gravity falls does the bubbles plot better
this episode is literally missed potential.
I’m glad this guy reviews all these episodes so I don’t have to watch them
A horse named Copernicus? Did the writers of this show watch Yugioh when they were younger?
oh how I love ed edd n eddy
7:24 How can be slow this time but usually moves like a super sonic rocket ?
