Finished installing front and rear shocks on 19 RG last night and just returned from 100+ mile test ride. The difference between stock and Wilbers is incredible. These bikes should come from factory this way. After failing at getting the nut on front shock installed 3 times (and some choice words) I went back to his video and noticed he turns the shock while holding the nut/rachet steady. This helped with getting the nut aligned and catch the threads properly. I was able to get the nut installed first try after using this method for both shocks. Vielen Dank für deine Videos, Stefan. Cheers!
Have had my Wilbers now for a few weeks OMG what a difference this has made to my HD Ultra it handles like its on rails and so smooth. Thanks Wilbers, Stefan & Matt Laidlaw for pointing this fantastic suspension my way.
Ordered a set and it is on its way here. You make it look so easy Stefan but, I sure wish you were here when they come in and wanted to do another install, I would feel so much better about it. Thanks for all your video's!
Congratulations Mark, you will love it! If your installer doesn’t have the time to watch my Videos, just give him the basics. Fork spring orientation, direction of the rear shocks and 20mm rider sag with you on the bike.
Bonjour Marc, is it the new 2023 CVO with the 121 engine? There is nothing available yet, my own new CVO RG will be picked up by Wilbers on October 30th, to be the prototype for the new suspension. Comparing it with the old one (with Wilbers), I have to say, FL4 suspension is better than FL3, but no match for Wilbers. Follow me on instagram, I will post the progress.
Very good video. I just bought a 2016 Road Glide Ultra and will be installing the Wilbers system soon. Regards from Memphis, Tennessee, or as Elvis would say; "Thank you, Thank you very much."
I just ordered a set of front spring and oil. I have Legends rear for now. This installation instructions look very easy. I hate the factory suspension. Can’t wait to install the front and test it out!
@stefan thanks for the install today @europeanbikeweek Faakersee2023.... You where wright, its a huge difference in a possitive way. Whe are happy with the Wilbers nivomat suspension 😋
Thanks for another installation video....I'm wondering how the front suspension would fare on a big tire bagger example 26"....with stock forks with fork extensions from the raked tree's would be interesting.

I installed this suspension this weekend….all was going well until I got to the rear suspension. Because it’s longer, the axle cam adjuster is butted up against my right muffler. I am running 4.5” Krome Werks. I played with the muffler adjustment but did not work.
We don't have this muffler variety here in Europe, the are all illegal and the authorities enforce it. You could loosen all (🙁) exhaust bolts and try to rearrange the exhaust. I know Robert is running 4.5 TAB on one of his bikes. Try to lower the bike, install the lower shock mounting bolts first, then the upper. The bike should have at least 1cm (1/5 in) sag without the rider, that should clear the muffler.

SoCal? Very nice! I have just returned from San Diego on Friday. I can recommend the techs at Laidlaws HD. Most of them are running Wilbers Nivomat, or at least the front on their Touring bikes.
Thanks for another informative video Stefan . I recently had the Wilbers fork springs and shocks installed on my 23 road king special by your Pals in New Jersey.. Question: When considering riders weight sitting on bike , ideally wearing usual gear to adjust the spring shock, why is it not necessary to also consider the weight that is being carried in the saddle bags for daily rides ? For example for daily rides i always carry tools along with some odds and ends which approximately add up to about 15 lbs or so.
Hi Stephen, it’s basically not as rocket sciency as it sounds. I’m normally aiming for 20mm, knowing that the right saddlebag is missing and maybe some clothes/gear. So in the lightest condition it achieves the 20mm, with some gear it’s 22-23, which is just within the sweetspot to work perfectly.
I don’t know anybody in that area, but i have a quick install guide for professional, so every tech will be able to do it. Just email me and I’ll send it. info@stefans-garage.com

Stefan, i was watching the comparison video blockhead did on this setup vs stock. @RoadieWingZZ made an observation regarding the unbalanced load. Could you be able to clarify and explain?
@@stefansgarage3014 "So right off the bat, the Wilbers is a 13” shock which will inherently provide an improvement over the 12” on the stock. Even a RG Ultra with the stock 13” shock rides waaaay better than a RG or RG Special. The fix for the harsh ride is always the sag of 3/4” to 1” (or 33% of total travel) to put the bike in a suspended neutral position. The negative aspect of the Wilbers would be the unbalanced nature of the Nivomat only being on one side for a rubber mounted swing arm assembly which means forces are not balanced on both sides. This is deemed a critical negative aspect of the HD stock shocks by suspension aficionados so is a relevant issue and concern on the Wilbers."
Ok, now I remember. The problem of the Harley stock suspension is not the asymmetric design, but the poor standard of the components. The problem of the unbalanced design of the Wilbers is only in theory, I would guess 99.99% of all Harley riders (including me) won’t be able to notice a difference. What you do notice is a significant better ride quality (I did several conversions of bikes that already had aftermarket shocks) and no issues in dialing in the correct preload and damping for different loads.
Hi Stefan, I bought the Wilber’s Nivomat for my 2014 Harley CVO Road King. I know that they are setup for my weight and my passenger weight and luggage’s weight . My question is what happens if I carry a passenger that weight a lot more than my usual passenger, I’m talking about 40 kilos or more. Thank you very much
The shocks are preset to the provided rider weight. Due to manufacturing tolerances of any spring, the fine tuning needs to be made during the install (20mm rider sag with owner), everything else is taken care of by the Nivomat. So don’t worry about changing passenger weights, of course you have to observe the maximum load published by Harley 😉
