He's not even the best narrator of this series. There's one that's away above the other VAs for this series. Kind of like with the Saxon Stories aka the Last Kingdom series from Cornwell.
I feel like Hakeswell is the weakest part of the Sharpe series. He is only exists to advance the sub-plot. If you read the other books; Sharpe has many opportunities and plenty of cause to kill him early on. It seems very unlikely that, a trained killer like Sharpe would delay getting vengeance. Also, if Teresa is this fiercely competent partisan, why didn't she unsling her rilfe; the one Sharpe gave her in book 8, then she could take Hakeswell prisoner. She could make a Christmas gift of him to Sharpe. Why attempt to take a man who has a loaded musket using only your sabre when you have a loaded rifle on your back? That's not Teresa-ing...
The narrator was Bernard Cornwell himself. If you actually persist... And listen to this narration, you will find that he does a really good job. He might not have all the surface glitter of the blessed carbonara! But he does bring the whole sense of it to light. I slightly iffy recording should not be a reason to dismiss this wonderful narration out of hand.
clois·ter /ˈkloistər/ noun a covered walk in a convent, monastery, college, or cathedral, typically with a wall on one side and a colonnade open to a quadrangle on the other. "the shadowed cloisters of the convent" Cloister! Cloister! Cloister! Lol
The death of Theresa is so very very sad. So true was her love for Sharpe. Narrative brings authors words to reality.
Yea the literal only female who didn't fk him over. And she was also one badass patriotic chick. The perfect one for Sharpe.
Du Breton - 'Do you leave tomorrow?'
Sharpe - 'Ask Major Ducos, the smartarse seems to know everything else...'
Outstanding narration!
I also think he is brilliant narrator but not for this book. He is to mellow.(not the right word but close)

Sharpe has a frog in his throat.
I agree. Not as good as William Gaminara.

Vol shit
Useless narrative
That's what I thought. Even with headphones it was hard at times to understand what he said. Shame
The narrator
em-PHA-SI-ses words in a very irritating way.
