We just got off Symphony of the seas and it was the Worst Cruise Ever!

- We went on Symphony of the Seas that was supposed to sail June 4th, 2022. I'm not blaming Royal Caribbean for all of the issues that we had but it was legitimately the worst cruise experience we have ever had. I'm also not saying that we didn't have a good time most of the time, but there were definitely some aggravating issues that occurred, and I thought I would pass that info along to all of you.
I hate to say it but you complain about stupid things. So what the app didn't work, no big deal. So what you did not have a big enough table for 8. These are little things that you are making a big deal about. I was on Explorer the beginning of May and I could complain about a lot of things, but who cares, just brush them off your shoulder and move on. I booked all of my fine dining before the cruise and when we went to make sure that they had our reservations, no where to be found, but they made it right and that was ok with us. So you had to walk a little through their shops, they do that on purpose. They want you to buy things.
Thank you for your input. I don't completely disagree with your comments and I would totally agree if we were not with my Mother and 2 others that were on their very first cruise. I just wanted everything to be GREAT for them. And individually, each instance was not that big (Although the App ended up taking the first whole day of my time to organize) however all the little things added up to much less enjoyable experience. I really do appreciate your time and suggestions.
@@balconyviewswithbj984 we were on Explorer with my brother and his girlfriend (their first cruise). It did not go so well for them. There was food in their fridge and is smelled of pee in their bathroom. We did not have any problems in our room. We all had balconies as well. The dining experience was not good either, we had to change from my time dining to early dinner which worked out great for us. Needless to say my brother said he wouldn't be taking anymore RCL cruises anytime soon
We had friends on this same cruise....they said "Best cruise we have ever been on!" They loved it so much they booked Symphony again.......

Our cruise ended last week. It was so fantastic that we booked another one, and this time we’re taking our grown daughters. We stayed in a Grand Suite. No complaints! Of course it was hot but that’s to be expected.
Was that your first cruise with Royal? That was how ours was on Liberty OTS back in 2016. We loved it so much we booked one for the next year with both of our adult children.
@@balconyviewswithbj984 Yes! It was our first cruise. I’m hooked! Having the Grand Suite with concierge service made everything go smoothly, I’m sure. We booked GS for our daughters, too. That way, we all have the same experience. I can’t wait!
@@stillfran yes Ma'am, Suite is the way to go if you can afford it or luck into it with a good Royal up bid. We got lucky and were upgraded with Royalup on Explorer OTS right after the covid restart. We got an Owners Suite and that is the LIFE! Hope you all enjoy your next cruise! Is that on Symphony also or another wonderful RCCL ship?
@@balconyviewswithbj984 We booked with Symphony again. We wanted our daughters to share in our experience. We were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary. Our daughters officiated! Now, it’s their turn to have fun.
The Symphony of the Seas so far is the best cruise experience we have ever had.... and we have been on more than 40 cruises. Love that ship!

I’ve been on Symphony of the seas three times I am now looking forward to my fourth time on Symphony of the seas this month, but it will be my first time doing this southern Caribbean itinerary. I have experienced so many different cruise lines, and ships Royal Caribbean. Does it the best in my opinion and symphony of the seas is truly an incredible spectacular ship.
It’s my last day on this same cruise on the Symphony. It’s been an awesome experience. Our fourth RC cruise on four different ships. We’ve booked another cruise for October on the Wonder.

It’s me and my 17 year old daughter that’s like amusement,games, arcade and water slides. We gonna in December . Other than freedom of the sea . Which will you recommend symphony or oddessey.
@@missshay.b8395 Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with either. I really am a little partial to the Oasis class ships so I might give a slight edge to Symphony, But you should have a blast whichever one you choose.
Went July 2024 had grest experience no complaints about food or service. Entertainment was very good we saw several of the shows. We didn't book excursions but enjoyed Coco Cay and the swim up bar as well as a sting ray swimming past us. Negatives would be a handful of low class guests and lines at pickle ball and wave boards overall thumbsup
I think people are being a bit hard on you. You’re entitled to your opinion. Losing a day of your vacation and some of the other things you mentioned I feel are valid reasons to be upset. You also shared some things you liked too and you also said you’ve had great cruises with royal other times. Hopefully the next cruise is better for you!
Thank you so much for your positive outlook on my comments and taking them EXACTLY as I meant them. I am not/was not trying to complain as much as alert others to potential issues that might occur because they did happen to us. We have a transpacific coming up in 6 weeks and I'm positive it will be spectacular! I hope you have a great time on your next cruise too!

While I do not disagree with your assessment that it is a SHIP, I will defend myself by saying 2 things.
First, Webster's dictionary defines BOAT as follows:
"noun
a vessel for transport by water, constructed to provide buoyancy by excluding water and shaped to give stability and permit propulsion."
Therefore, a ship IS a BOAT.
Second, for the love of god yourself, please notice I said boat only twice while I correctly called it a ship 6 times. (Yes, I re-watched it and counted)
I said boat twice.....TWICE! And you act as though you would be drunk if it had been a drinking game. Heck, my wife is a lightweight and still would not have even gotten a buzz!
This comment was written totally in jest, and I truly appreciate your watching and commenting on my videos and I will do my best in the future to not call them a boat. 8-)

You can pull out semantics all day, but the fact remains, a boat may not be a ship, but a seafaring ship is always a boat. And as always, enjoy your next cruise no matter what sea vessel you choose to sail upon! 8-)

I'm sorry youu had such a hard time on this cruise. Hopefully next time it will be better. We leave on May 31st on the Symphony of the Seas out of New Jersey.
It was just not what we have come to expect from RCCL. We have been on a few cruises since that was much better. We're actually sailing out of Jersey in December on Odyssey. Very excited!
That’s the date when we disembarked! We hated to leave. I can’t stop thinking about it. Someone told me that ppl who complain probably need to adjust their attitude. You make the experience positive or negative. Not sure how true that is but it’s worth noting.
@@stillfran I don't completely disagree with the person that told you that, however, My videos are less about complaining and more about alerting others of some of the things they could experience. And to be completely transparent, negative "Headlines" tend to get more views than positive ones. but if you check out most of my content you should notice that I try to point out both positive and negative aspects in all my videos.
@@balconyviewswithbj984 aw, I completely understand. It could be beneficial to know some of the bumps in the road, especially for first timers. A crew member said it to me after I replied “wonderful” to her question about are trip. She said it after I asked, ”Who couldn’t have a wonderful time!”

I agree, I was on that same cruise. Not worst ever but to your point, not typical "RCCL". Agree, the AP not working sucked and we had many things booked so they all disappeared and then we had to convince people that we had reservations for the Water Show. The "cup" allocation was also an issue as everyone poured through bars to get the "cup" disrupting the vibe of having a cocktail. The food was so bad in the main dining room that we booked specialty restaurants the entire time and swore we would never set foot in the Main Dining Room again....oh, and don't forget about having to book an extra hotel night for them moving the cruise to Sunday vs Saturday. The Ports that we stopped at were also subpar...we described them as complete tourist traps and I will never book that area again.
Just remember, "Worst ever" can still be fairly good if you've never had a bad cruise. ;-) We have been to Cozumel and Costa Maya a few times. We actually love Cozumel, but I think that is because we always do Dolphinarus with someone who has never swam with dolphins, and that place is just amazing period. I do agree, Costa Maya is kinda low on my list of ports. However, other than the traffic in Roatan (which was absolutely horrendous that day), We GREATLY enjoyed Honduras! I highly recommend Daniel Johnson Sloth and Monkey hangout if you decide to go there again.
@@balconyviewswithbj984 Our experience in the main dining room has been the opposite. The food and selections have always been so good that we quit going to the specialty restaurants after the first cruise in 2016. Last weeks on the Symphony, the food was awesome. My wife and I have very different palates, and we each loved the meals we selected. Sorry that you had a bad experience.
@Dean Balouris, Actually, we pretty much agree with your take on the MDR, we did not have any issues there that I can recall. However I will say, we just sailed on Navigator (Our first since the Menu change) and though it was not as bad as I was expecting, I am not a fan of the menu change. One night I had to settle for the least objectional main course and I was not please. Luckily, I had over done it at lunch and wasn't really that hungry anyway....Plus, I had also ordered 2 deserts that were wonderful.
I can understand your frustration. With several things happening one after another. I feel like you still kept a positive spin on it in general.

No, not over exaggerating, if anything I held back. There was a few things that I didn't even mention. It was mostly just bad luck and a little poor planning or execution on RCCL's part. BUT, as I have told others, yes it was the worst cruising experience we've had, but a bad day cruising is better that a good day at home. Glad you fully enjoyed your trip on her, she IS a marvelous ship!

Hey, I totally understand and in no way did I say that we did not have fun, just that it was our worst cruise experience to date. Mostly, I was disappointed for the 3 people in our party that was their first cruise and it wasn't all that it could be, but we still had a LOT of good times and fun. Glad you enjoyed your cruise!
I sail on Holland America and thank goodness they cater to a different clientele. It’s a cut above the rest and they don’t have crazy things like zip lines and excessive partying. Wouldn’t sail with any other line. Remember you get what you pay for. If you want to party sail on Carnival.
If you are looking for negative you will find it everywhere. This complaining is sometimes petty and who cares. You sound over privileged and should just enjoy your blessings.

That's my 2nd favorite ship after the Beyond. This from someone with over 25 cruises in their belt.

We will be going the Symphony in July to Bahamas. Have you been there in mid July? If yes, how was the weather? I’m concern about it be hurricane season. Was it a smooth ride? Also how was the food?

I had a terrible cruise on the Wonder in March 2022. The food was so bad that I lost 5 lbs. The dining room was the worst I’ve ever experienced. We had reservations in Hooked, Izumi & Mason Jar. I ordered lobster in Hooked & sent it back twice. The tails were mealy. The chowder was bland & the oysters were tiny & tasteless. Izumi was mediocre & the Mason Jar was like no BBQ I’ve ever had. I left the devilled eggs on my plate…and I love devilled eggs. Coleslaw was tasteless. I took three bites of my entree & left it. We didn’t even bother w dessert. The waiter was very nice but it wasn’t his fault.
I haven't yet been on Wonder. We went to Izumi on Quantum in Oct and it was SPECTACULAR! My SIL & BIL sail on Wonder in April last year and said the same about the Mason Jar. We are from the south and they said who ever made the recipes for it must not have been.
I sailed on Symphony on April's 1st and my experience was not so good at all as the previous times I had with Royal! Many technical problems on the shows, the 1887 iceskating show was cancelled twice, the solarium bistro was closed the entire cruise, Puerto Rico was cancelled and cause of the bad weather in CocoCay, all the shore excursions cancelled too! My friend was the first time ever on a cruise and she was so upset and disappointed.
She really is a GREAT ship, but when it seems like everything is going wrong, it really does take the wind out or your sails and makes for a disappointing experience.

I was a Royal C fan ears ago until they started to copy Carnival and building family theme mega ships. My favorite now is Princess and Celebrity. They offered much better service and less Grey Hound ghetto crowd with fk screaming kids.
I always booked my shore excursions ahead of time.
