@@kamso3553 Thank you for the kind words, I'm happy to have helped! That's a good idea, is there anything in particular that you find challenging about using a VU meter?
He's straight forward, no nonsense. Like he says on this video, "let's waste no time." He obviously plans and edits his productions, and REALLY wastes no time!
They even offer a no install version. They are the best in the game, no doubt. The difference between molotok and just a saturation plugin is that it saturates only when it compresses. Behaving like analog gear circuits would
Too true, too many people are just in it for clicks and will say "Here's a list of my favorite 'x' plugins!" then go on to list almost every single plugin in that category...
these companies that are providing these free amazing plugins deserve so much more credit!! I've used/been using TDR Nova for more than a year before I got Ozone 9 but I totally slept on these compressors, after 5 minutes of watching I immediately downloaded them. superb video as always!
hey I am a big fan of you and I like your vibe... super chill but you give out the best explanations!! keep on making these type of videos. I have learned 70% of my music production knowledge from you❤
Good video. Nicely presented. Very clear. Well spoken and good enunciation. The lack of gimmicks, background noises (continuous music, sfx etc) and no hyper fast cutting make this a joy to watch. Nice for an "oldie" like me! Thank you, good sir.
I love the fact that the interface of Kotelnikov is the simplest it can be without making it frustrating for more advanced users. It is like Harmless but easier to grasp.
Wow, quick and easy way to turn some generic bland drums into something with character. I mostly rely on my ears to figure out what plugins do, but sometimes I bounce in place to see waveforms too. It’s somewhat tedious though, would you know of a plugin that would do it on the fly?
Full TDL Bundle owner here. I find the Fab Filter products superior in all cases except compression, where I use primarily TDL. These are not only my fav free compressors, but they are my fav compressors full stop.
I was about to ask a video that explains what are the differences between some compressors. But no need to ask, In The Mix already knew I needed this video. Thx !
These guys are amazing devs who are exactly the kinds of people producers and engineers should want to support. They have reasonable prices, they work hard for the community, they make amazing plugins, and they give so much away for free. If you like their free stuff, try to buy at least one of their paid plugins, if only to support their amazing business model and ethic.
Great video, as Always. Thanks for doing all of these videos, Some of the best recommendations ive gotten have been from you (beyerdynamic dt 770s, Ozone , Tdr nova etc.) I cant wait to try out molotok, it looks sick. keep making great content! Edit: Kotelnikov ended up being the more useful. such a clean sound!
A feature I really like on Molotok (I somehow failed to pick up Kotelnikov when I visited the TDR site, so I'll revisit tomorrow) is the Delta button. It's a very useful feature that helps a newbie work out how the compressor is working, since it reveals what is being "subtracted" and I think it's quite rare to see a Delta button on a freebie.
Me Comming from the compression masterclass Video, Where can I classify kotelnikov and motorik in the 4 large compressor types?.. Thanks for Your work your Channel is a Big help 💯
Hi sir it would be really helpful if you make a new playlist for only plugins in which you explain about different plugins because after know almost every basic I think it is good to look around for plugins and work with them. So making a separate playlist would be good for beginners like me
Where are the other 40% from? I recently discovered Dan Worrall and The House of Kush, for all this plugin stuff and Venus Theory is the mustache man for sound design. Kush got a very cool video about the musicality of compression. How it changes the feel, textures of a drum track. That was really cool. Michael was one of the first guys, when I thought, yap, this dude knows what he does.
Applied both of these to my drum bus and the Kotelnikov drum bus presets sucked all the body and low end out of the drums. Previously I'd been using Fruity Compressor's "Drums" setting and that sounded better, or at least louder and bassier, to me. What am I doing wrong?
subscribed, and thank you for the recommendation. I'm looking into getting rid of waves and finding open source/smaller developer options. Probably the only big company thing I'm staying with is Ableton and Soundtoys.
@InTheMix hey when, if you make another video about mixing/mastering. Will you explain how we take a sound from your sample pack and convert it from the original sample sound and turn it to something that sounds amazing. From being plain sounding sample into a vivid sound that surrounds and sounds like its right beside us. You have good sample packs but we need to make those sounds pop, like sound their best.
Could you talk about voxengo plugins one time? Like not only span or the other free plugins but in generall all plugins and in which way they could replace other plugins because I'm thinking about buying the premium membership bc I think they are quiet unique. That would be really interesting and there aren't many videos about voxengo plugins. But if you don't use voxengo plugins or don't know a lot about it then it's okay. Thank you!
I totally agree, so much that I've got all of their gentlemen edition, except for their new Molotok, which I plan on getting their GE pretty soon...)) I do use them...all the time. I also own most of FabFilter plugIns.....but Tokyo Dawn are certainly a game changer.

Wow! Thanks so much for the pointer! The new compressor with saturation will be great for getting that last bit of loudness in a final mix. I can't believe how useful three molotok will be. Can't wait to learn it. Awesome! EDIT: you didn't even cover one of the best features:. The delta button. Try enabling this: you can use that as a staccato effect for really cool additions to your sound. Lots of possibilities. Very, very cool. Thanks again!

Hey y'all I just came from Michael's vid "How to mix vocals in fl studio" and he advised to not use Fruity Limiter, so which of the two mentioned in this vid would you suggest for a start?
"It is much more valuable to know 1 or 2 good plugins in and out" well said. All music is made by setting limitations then slightly bending the rules sometimes. 2 of every effect is a good number.
Thanks for the review, great plugins! My only question on the Molotok would be, does it come with a HQ/oversampling setting? As it adds lots of saturation and harmonics to the signal it may also introduce aliasing problems (additional unwanted harmonics). Anyway, I just downloaded kotelnikov, sound very transparent!

I've got a couple of these. They are very good, I agree.

Which is better, sidechaining using a compressor/limiter or by level automation??
Level automation will be a cleaner result, compression might impart extra character to the sound. Both are valid options
