Tibau popped for EPO. Stop making up nonsense when your hero wasn't unbeatable. Khabib style relies on having a size and strength advantage over his lightweight opponents and when that isn't present and he can't manhandle his opponents then his it-factor disapears and he finds himself being just a normal beatable guy in a scuffle.
There is no world in which Tibua was winning the Khabib fight. It was close for a Khabib fight, sure, but Khabib was never in serious danger in that fight over the three rounds. Hendricks on the other hand was winning against GSP. In saying that, GSP is probably my GOAT. His class inside and outside of the cage. His gleaming record. The fact he got back both his losses. The fact he dominated WW for years. The fact the he stepped up a weight division - and became a champ of two divisions. The fact he never popped, or got caught in scandal/drama. His respect for martial arts. He's the guy.

Jone Jones is the greatest mma fighter of all time without a doubt. The amount of championship fights he has had is crazy. It's one thing to get to the top, it is another thing to stay at the top for a very long time. Khabib has said it himself that he had a hard time staying motivated after winning the belt. The fact that Jon Jones has been able to keep hismelf motivated for so long is a trait that only the elite have like kobe, lebron and jordan. The reason I don't like him is the whole drug issue, I personally believe he was using performance enhancing drugs but everyone else was as well so I guess its justifiable.

As gsp explained, fighting can't be measured like other sports. Something closest to measurement is how many times a fighter beats the same opponent. Gsp and Jon Jones had fought same fighters multiple times but khabib never had a rematch. He might have dominated in rematches too but we don't know that now so his goat status is just an assumption while with gsp and others we have seen that.
John jones took the title at 21 and never lost it. Im a muslim so i lean toward khabib. But forget all the problems of John jones outside the cage. In the cage its my first sentence. I believe John jones is the best ever so far.

I always thought the same of pankration. And according to some texts, some fights were literal life and death situations. I imagine the rule set turned the sense of urgency to the max in every fighter.

is it really? seeing how good Dagestanis are in MMA ... a lot of the unknowns were probably just as good as guys ranked 10-15 guys in the ufc. we also know many of them as very slick when it comes to fighting. those guys wrestle since early childhood....they'd be a tough go for many ufc fighters.

GSP beat three generations of fighters the best in their divisions, Hughs, Serra, Diaz, Condit, Bisping etc. he also fought and won against said people when they were juiced to the gills.
Jones-Technically undefeated the reason he won his last two was because he knew how judges scored the fight he’s a technician he beat probably the most stacked division with some of the most dangerous men on the planet, Bonner, Sonnen, Rampage, Machida, Belfort, Gustafson, Reyes etc the only issue on his resume is the drugs
Khabib-beat a stacked division going 13 and 0 in the UFC and probably the most dominant fighter in the game the problem with him is he fought mostly strikers and had only 3 defenses against guys who were stylistically perfect for him Taibu showed us what happens to khabib’s dominance when he can’t bully you on the ground he also retired too early

Lhw is by no means the most stacked division. Most men are around 5'9 to 5'11 on height, which is about the right size for FW, LW, AND WW. More men means more competition and a more stacked division

LOL at 21 years old Bones was beating legends and hall of famers to win his belts, Shogun Hua a legit legend and hall of famer wasn't even 30 and in his absolute prime when bones embarrassed him and took the belt, Khabib beat interm champ Al Laquinta lol certainly not a legend. Bones fought everyone in the division guys like machita Belfort rampage jackson multiple fights with DC absolute legends of the sport he had 26 fights in 10 years and many of those were championship fights. Khabib fought 8 fights in his last 8 years before he prematurely retired, he beat an interim scrub champion for the belt beat the top couple strikers in the division then retire with no Remaches no trilogies the lightweight division was and is solid but its all strikers which sets up perfectly for Khabib and now Olivera to dominate. Loved Khabib but no way should be in the conversation of goat he just didn't fight near enough after he got to the top. 29-0 but most of those were against nobody's early in his career. GSP was great and well deserved to be goat also but do remember him getting put to sleep against matt Sera yes he avenged that loss and showed it was a fluke but it still happened but GPS was a great grappler and could stand and throw with the top strikers. I think Anderson silva should also be way ahead of Khabib

He fought Machida and Rashad in their prime, but Rampage, Belfort, Shogun (already had 3 knee surgeries)and others were not in their prime. Jones biggest wins were DC and Gustafson. Ironically, DC and Jones both said their toughest fight in their career, was Gustafson!

I pick Jones as the GOAT just like Dana. He and George beat the best of the best. A lot of world champions. Jones dominated the longest and the judges never gave him a defeat. But 2 fights could've gone either way. His toughness is unmatched. Khabib's first 16 fights were 2 round, unsanctioned bouts against opponents who all never won a single fight. On the other side of the world. I don't know anyone who has seen all of those fights. He won those easily then had an impressive 13 fight win streak in the ufc. I agree with the Gliesson Thibbeau fight. Could've gone either way. 0-12 take downs and landed fewer strikes, but I give him the win for being the more active fighter in every round. Jones is the GOAT.

Those three were able to go deeper than theirs opponent. Like Jones vs Reyes. When Reyes gave Jones a fight, Jones push it deeper and by the end of the fight Reyes had not left on him, barely throw a punch on the last round. Same for Hendricks who gave up of the 5th round and he just tried to sit on his good rounds.
Reyes pushed Jones... if Jones wasn't the champ or some if some dumb judge didn't give him the first round he would have lost. Or, if he would have got a point tooken away for all the eyes pokes he would have won. Let's be honest here.

@@mmatrix3998 All three judge did it to Jones, an unanimous decision (48-47, 48-47, 49-46). The last two rounds were easy to score for Jones, as the 1st one was for Reyes, nobody question that. The judges diverge at the 2nd and 3th rounds. Both rounds were close, but for me just the 3th one was debatable. Overral it was a close fight and only you would give 4 rounds to Reyes. At the end, the strikes and significant strikes were close too, but Jones had score a few take downs.

For Me there two things here. One is the GOAT. GOAT is subjective and debatable, but for Me it's GSP. The second thing is the Best MMA fighter. I'm a huge GSP fans, but I have to say the Best MMA fighter is Khabib. We've seen all the Best candidates having a problem and a close match, but not Khabib. I believe we haven't seen the Best of Khabib yet and with him retire we maybe never Will.
Sure, I also scored his fight against that roid head Hendricks and he did win that fight but lost 2 rounds. He clobbered the 2 that he lost to. Jones is a cheater due to drugs and although his fight IQ is top drawer he eliminated himself by cheating. Khabib has fought a lot of tomato cans and had 4 title defenses which eliminates him from the list leaving GSP as the goat. Anderson Silva also cheated and removed himself from the list.

Plus there wasn't a fighter that was really up to take advantage of Khabib's weakness. All the fighters that gave him "trouble" made stupid mistakes. Mistakes that they usually make too.
While GSP literally faced his idol while he was still up and coming. Khabib is definitely in the conversation, but he was able to improve while he was still up and coming in the UFC. Meanwhile Jones faced the best from start to finish (with the exception of Chael, sorry bro you still the Bad Guy) and he was also slowly improving but he was still better than most. He didn't even have a striking back ground and only trained striking for a few month before coming to the UFC and he was still considered to be the threat of his division because of his bizzare striking techniques. Same thing with GSP; he was a striker who improved his wrestling on the way and was still considered the best wrestler of his era.
Khabib's Reign is more comparable to Jose Aldo except he retired. They're both scary guys because of how well they dominate with their own fighting styles and use a little of what they're not good at to be a more complete fighter. Jose is a scary striker and anti wrestker while Khabib is like an anti striker because od how well he traps his opponents with wrestling. But Jose's resume will forever be better than Khabib's

i like how you left out the record of title defenses. Everyone loves to say how dominate khabib was in the UFC which spanned 3 years with little to do damage taken. Maybe if khabib was champion for as long as jon jones (a decade) the end of his career would look similar. Let khabib defend his title for another 6-7 years and then compare him to jon jones.
Okay now let's look at the level of competition they faced. Khabib only fought 6 or 7 elite fighters whereas the rest were pizza delivery guys. GSP and Jones were going against straight killers for pretty much their entire career

Pretty sure there are other examples if one go rewatching all of his fights, which by the way would not take long, because he has only 12 fights in UFC (GSP and Jones have more title wins in UFC, than he actually had fought in UFC in total) and out of all of those fights there are like only 5-6 elite top competitors, other than that his 17 wins outside of UFC are against complete cans and most of his fights in UFC too

Just because a fighter was on heavy steroids doesn’t change the fact that they permanently and officially won. It’s unfair that you can fake drug tests so easily, but still it does not change the fact that the fighter arguably won the fight(I still think Khabib won and is undoubtedly the lightweight goat), fighters like Jon Jones were also on steroids but still manage to be in most peoples goat conversations. So long story short, even if the other fighter who beat you were on steroids, it doesn’t change the fact that the fighter still beat you. But I also think this needs to be changed, like being disqualified or temporarily banned without effecting the opponents record by putting a loss or a NC.

If there was a competent referee in there that night Conor would have had a minimum of 2 point deducted , that was an outrageous amount of cheating.

Jones performances dropped after he was pop for steriods. His fights began to get too close, and he absorbed a lot of damage from some good opponents but not like who Khabib was facing. eg Dusting, Gathje, McGregor and yet Khabib made easy work of his foes, while we could argue that Jones might lost a few of those latter fights of his career. I remember back then when it was all Jonnny Bones Jones thou, I wont argue if someone say Jones is the GOAT just stating facts

People often think that steroids just make you stronger, and obviously that’s true… although some are better for strength than others, some are better for speed, some are better for endurance, etc… I cycled steroids for just over 12 years (still have all my hair and had 4 kids during that time fyi) and I can tell from experience that the biggest benefit from steroids is one that people always overlook, and that is how it affects you’re recovery time after hard workouts. Not only do you feel like you have a ridiculous amount of energy but you’re recovery time is almost cut in half… and depending on what steroids you take, your diet, sleep, etc, it can get even better. The main benefit Jones received from steroids isn’t the strength or speed, as he needed to cycle off the drugs pre fight so as to not set off the tests… the main benefit was more frequent workouts because of faster recovery time so he would have been able to get in twice the amount of training time as his opponents and would have felt better doing so. He would have been able to drill twice as much (which means he became much better at the techniques, and could get back to the gym and have the time to try new things whereas his opponents only had the time to practice the same old same old and felt much more fatigued during the entire process. So Jones essentially gave himself twice the training time during camps as his opponents, while feeling better, stronger, and faster, and then could get back to the gym sooner. That’s what made the difference… not the strength or speed gains on the day of the fights, but the ability to push his training to the next level, affording him the time to learn and drill in ways his opponents could not. That’s why he’s disqualified in my goat discussion… same as Anderson or anyone else who took steroids.
