My VdB started putting out figs a little too late this year (I want to say it was in July sometime). Seems to be quite prolific; it was in a 1 gallon tree pot (DWN grown) and probably had 6-8 figs on the tree. It's now a bit more happy in a 3-gallon pot. Can't wait to see how it does next year. Trying to keep the tree in a columnar shape, should be a fun experiment.

I have a 15 year old VDB fig tree. Amazing tree. Easy to grow and prolific. I get 100s of figs every year. When dead ripe it is almost like eating strawberry jam.

Hey bud, where do you get your fruit bags from? Amazon's are hit or miss. Thanks!

Do you have the "Little Miss Figgy" dwarf fig also?

love my negronne. i find myself moving towards more common figs year after year. so many changes over the past few years. ive really enjoyed watching ross mature as a grower. i have many reasons that keep me laughing at fig prices. that 4 dollar cutting must be garbage its so cheap. there is another way to look at it.

If I ever get a chance to name a fig, I am going to name it "Over Yonder".

you have such beautiful growth on your figs, even in containers! I was searching for VdB but I ended up finding negronne at my local nursery. there seems to be a lot of controversy about whether they are the same! the reports about both are the same - vigorous, productive, with berry flavored fruits. any thoughts about this?

Need to a video showing comparison between VDB vs Beer's black vs black mission, I have them and they all look alike. On paper Black mission is most aggressive grower but their structure were exactly identical. Young leaf have skinny finger, as their leafs mature the leafs form spade shape.

Bought a VdB at Lowes today. I have a Beer's Black also from Lowes and was concerned that they were genetically synonymous. Thanks.

      They are.
Assuming they're labeled correctly. Some nurseries don't even know what they have.

Are those figs all for you? Or do you sell them? Just curious

What are you tying around the figs, mesh bags, plastic?

It's so the birds don't eat the fruit while it ripens.

I had one in the ground years ago , it was a delious fig but small, just fruits and exotics has it and claims it maxes out at six feet tall wondering if you knew if this is true or not , because mine in the ground grew quite large .

No. That's just regurgitated & incorrect information.

Could you please tell me about the black plastic bags wrapped around many of the pots? Is there a particular reason for them? Really enjoy your fig videos. We have 5 plants so far, growing in our small farm in Southern Taiwan.

Plastic bag keeps the moisture in a lot longer. But still get air circulation. Doesn’t evaporate very fast. I’m not sure if that’s his reason. But ... that is the reason.

@@Coolbreezeoutdoorlife You can also use plastic to make sure the plant doesn't get too much rain water when the figs are ripening.
