They are fantastic rigs. The only bugger is when Toyota switched to common rail and introduced the DPF system, Injectors every 100,000km is a real pain in the wallet and DPF systems have not been overly good across the board, the American trucks seem to be suffering the worst though particularly the 6.7 Cummins Rams. Alot of these rigs are rocking around Mine sites with over 500k on them.
I thought 2010 was the year they introduced dpf on the hilux ? I have been looking for some time to find a nice one now . I need something that will get me to work in winter and also act as a family car through the rest of the year . Good review!
John Smith thanks for your comment John I’m missing the the truck now I have sold it. Your close I believe it’s the cars which had the face lifted front end that got the DPF
In your future reviews you could talk more about the engine as how it drives is far more important than comfort/convenience features. PS. Autos are for girls lol.
muscleprotein yes the HiLux does come with diff lock 05-09 10-16 I believe got an lsd as an option my truck had the lsd and it was fantastic in the snow. With its esp traction control system I was able to drive it in two wheel drive and have some fun with small controllable slides.
Great car but I need a model with lockable rear differential. Then you have a great bug out vehicle. The earlier models had it and the new models as well. Makes all the difference off road
Im a big fan of Manual transmission but I have the auto version of this exact vehicle and it is great . i use it for heavy loads and ever off roading for fun and it works great
Hilux will go 300k km. So at 20k km a year it should give minimal problems for 10-15 years if you maintain. After this it will be OK for 200k km but there will be problems.
mine has 310 k miles .......not too hard to get through the doe test .........chassis had to be patched where rust had eaten a hole in it .......suction control valve on pump also this year but been a very good jeep so far ........and its on a farm ...!
@@3261carl Don't buy one at all. Toyota have issued a recall for all 750 000 of them in the US. All made from cheap Chinese steel. Known problems of chassis rust and likelihood of fuel tank dropping off.
Really, I've got a 2008 with 170,000 miles on it.... Never washed underneath, unless you include puddles, and not a spec of rust on it... Goes through an MOT every time.
Nigel, I jave just had a bowel movement. I have measured the largest turd. At its widest point the girth is a whopping 8 inches but it tapers to just 5mm at noth ends.

i currently own this exact ute and it has never let me down . i off-road with it sometimes too and it always kicks ass bloody good

What's with the poor quality and inconsistent blurring of the reg plate, which is LS10 ELV?
It’s called being a beginner, we all have to start somewhere 🤷🏼♂️

Which is better the automatic version or the manual shift? And why?
Auto for me and I guess I’m not alone as the auto demands a 2k premium over a manual.

Isaiah Anyajiofor no it’s long gone. Wish I still had it.
Why, you planning to steal it?
Do not buy a second hand post-2005 Hilux. They are notorious rust buckets.
Just don’t buy one that’s lived in a field

How does thenDAB compatibility work? Does the 2014 hilux have this as don’t want to have to upgrade the whole system
I don’t think they got DAB until 2016 Mk 8 Hilux, mine certainly never had it.
Unless this video is showing an updated head unit. Def says DAB on the dash, the chap even points it out.
