Brian, you should think about making Derek a Shaw Strength sponsored athlete. He could help you learn the sport, but you could help support his career at the same time. It might help expand your brand a bit, and arm wrestling is definitely hot right now.
Yeah, it would also greatly extend the shelf life of his brand since armwrestling is easily the best sport for a strength athlete to compete in at the world level betweem ages 40 up till 70.

He's a super jacked 49 year old american who can bench over 500lbs and after he beat Genadi Kvikvinia, he is the most established number 2 in the world behind Levan at the moment. If you want to get into arm wrestling and fly up in your ability as an arm wrestler, this is the guy you need to train with right now. He's living proof that you can reach near the number one spot in arm wrestling even when you're middle aged. So compared to him you're young, and he is potentially the second best aw in the world right now, just shows the difference between Strongman and Arm Wrestling.

They should not even think about touching that move.... You need so much elbow integrity to even be able to handle that.

Brian, if you love strength and finding new areas of strength and ways to apply strength that you didn't know existed, armwrestling is the sport for you. It has great depth and lots of exciting PRs to hit.
Love Derek, his disposition seems a lot like Brian's. You couldn't learn from a better teacher and nicer guy. If Brian Shaw jumps into arm wrestling it will be outstanding.

Very interesting conversation , I got to know so much personal facts of Derek Smith, it felt like Brian had genuine interest in knowing Derek Smith life story more then a actually interview, very mellow friendly ,relaxed exchange of experiences, congrats, and I'm very thankful to Derek for being so open !
Brian has everything to be truly elite. Huge frame obviously, very big and thick hands, world record level grip and finger strength, strong arm/back/chest. He just needs experience and development in specific areas like pronation. I think strongman in general are more coordinated and have better endurance than powerlifters and are thus more suited for arm wrestling.
His hands aren’t *that* big for his height, idk why people keep saying this. They aren’t as big as guys like Khaled, Levan or Vitaly. They’re probably similar to Devon’s
@@stokiemanbrent4200 trust me, if it is at least as big as Devon's that's already good though I am confident they are thicker than Devon's. Plus he has the grip strength to back it up.
@@YFun-ux5rs I his hand is a little longer than Devon’s & similar thickness. Derek said Brian’s hand was a little shorter than his own. We will see soon hopefully. His grip strength is crazy yeah

Brian, I would love to see a 5th WSM win for you (and you are still up there with all of these contenders, deep field for sure), but just as exciting to me would be seeing you at a WAF World Championship or UAL or EvW or KotT or whatever supermatch event, climbing to the highest levels of Armwrestling!
while Brian is still very elite in strongman, I think it is hard for his body to keep performing at the same level without accumulating injuries. Arm wrestling on the other hand is nowhere near as taxing on the entire body/CNS and injuries are only in the arm/shoulder if at all + he can compete for another 10-20 years. So as a fan of arm wrestling, I would looove to see Brian take arm wrestling seriously and slowly transition to it.
@@YFun-ux5rs there does seem to be much more longevity in Armwrestling, as we have seen with John, Ron, King George, etc.
@@YFun-ux5rs Guys with strong hands can still be relevant into their mid 60s in armwrestling. Imagine Brian.

the moment Derek starts lifting weights and building even more muscle he could be fighting for top 5 in the world real soon. but lifting weights is important. all the top guys do specific to armwrestling weight training

Its pretty easy for Brian, with how famous he is all he has to do is ask and arrange for any armwrestler to come over and they'll jump at the chance for training/hang out, its the Larry Wheel effect to sum it up easily
