I think it`s an instant success, as long as they keep it clean, once you get some weight on it and the pull of that water, it might be a different story. Keeping it fairly clean is the key Todd, it should work well, be well my friend.
We did ours with a bigger pipe as a cap. I think it's a 20" main pipe and a 24 or 26 cap that sits about 8" below the normal water levels. Welded up a rebar screen over the top for the overflow protection. It all sits about 1 1/2ft below the spill way. Been there since the early 90s and besides the normal cleaning, we've never had issues with it. I'd be more than happy to shoot you a few pictures if you're interested in it.
Could you get a debris trap with larger holes in it to let more debris through and not clog up? It looks like its mostly leaves. Maybe cut the current debris trap to let some larger stuff through but not to big of course that it would clog up the pipe. Just a thought. I do like your prefilter though. That has a much larger filtering surface so it shouldnt clog up nearly as fast.
@@Lanninglongarmmowing the thought to make the openings larger did cross my mind. You also mentioning it motivates me to take my generator and cutoff wheel up there next time and maybe cut every other bar out
@DigginLife21 Yeah if you cut every other one whould that let the leaves through? The leaves wouldn't clog up the pipe right? If memory serves me right, that pipe is pretty large and leaves wouldn't be an issue.
I think someone else may have mentioned a floating barrier-like logs. This would not suffer from the problem of raising the pond level as it clogs, and as a result building up the pressure from higher water on one side and lower (outlet level) water on the other. EDIT: now that I think about it some more, as long as the screen doesn’t go all the way to the bottom it won’t cause the level to rise as it clogs. . .so, maybe never mind!
I saw something totally different, that worked well for a pond over-flow. Get (2) 90 elbows of the same size as your over flow and connect them to make a U shape. Shorten your overflow , so when you put the U on top, the bottom horizontal part of the U is at pond level. Water will have to go up from below the surface into the U and drain, so any floating debris can't get in the pipe.
I'm definitely no expert but why not just take the yellow cage off of the pipe and let the debris just flow on through. Just one old man's opinion. God bless and have a wonderful day. 👍👍🙂
It’s on the premise what I was talking about last time, but you went next to the outlet where I was thinking about when it was coming in the pond and putting it across that on the inlet

That's why @@DigginLife21 made it as wide as possible to, hopefully, match cleaning intervwith the customer's expected frequency.

Looks like it should do a good job with the smaller debris. Looking forward to an update 9n how it works in a future episode.

I typically use the rain gear for the initial trips to and fro. Then, it's just a wet day without the gear soaking the truck.
I hope it works for you Todd, you got to try something.

Rain days are always fun days. I prefer just to get wet when I'm just working. No clue what the rest of the video is about yet. 😂

I think that might just work. But it doesn't float like my log ring idea. You might not have a bunch of nice logs laying around on site.
You’ve got a good idea there

@@bluegrallis that’s brilliant.
Yep. Especially when it's included in the initial pricing. Those elbows aren't cheap !
The neighbors are trying to get vengeance on that pond you should just build up the dam and forget the overflow pipe and let it go out a spill way
I dare say that would be better at this point 😂
Looks good to me bud! No way you could of known it would attract that much debris.
Blew my mind
That pond must be backed up to a wood chiping plant. Good idea!
@@thomassawyer820 must be something
Looking for a rain suit like the one I had in 1986 for riding a motorcycle. Waterproof coveralls.
The ability of water to go under the debris is what will make it succeed.
Is there enough depth? Maybe.
Should be do enough. If it doesn’t work I guess I’ll be wading out deeper 😂🤣
