  • As the third largest city in Sweden, Malmö is often dismissed as a mere suburb of Copenhagen, standing in the shadows of the popular Danish capital which lies just across the Öresund. Haters will argue that this is a city full of crime, out-of-control immigration, and other social malaise, but in reality, Malmö is a vibrant, diverse, and exciting city with a rich history and culture.
Just 25 minutes from Copenhagen by rail, Malmö is the perfect day trip from the Danish capital, and my short overnight visit here was not nearly enough. I began my stopover here with a stroll to the charming Lilla Torg (little square), followed by a stroll up Södergatan to the impressive Stortorget (main square) to admire the city's stunning Malmö Rådhus (town hall). I also made an stop at the charming Cafe Pronto on Lilla Torg for some excellent coffee. The next morning, I make a quick return visit to see the Rådhus by the light of day, before heading to Copenhagen Airport to catch my flight back to Canada.
Though I didn't get to explore much of Malmö on this trip, I did make a return visit to the city about six months later during the height of Spring. I will post the direct link to that video below, once it's online (fall 2023). For now, I hope you enjoy this brief tour of Malmö!

Underrated city. People shouldn't be put off by the commentary on issues in the outer suburbs.

The company I worked for was a global company but had Swedish roots. Head office was located in Lund I believe it was? Close to Malmo, I remember going out for an evening with many of the production staff of bowling, dinner and drinks in Malmo. Beautiful city what struck me as a Canadian visiting is things we call old are pretty much brand new in Sweden and Europe overall! 😊 Always love the destination but hate the plane travel.if only there was a way of traveling the world without the airplane travel!

That would sure be nice wouldn’t it? Have you thought of any round the world cruises? Lund is a beautiful place and I’ll have a video of it coming out later this year (as well as a return visit to Malmo in Spring) 👍

Is one day enough to see the city? I plan to come Copenhagen and stay one night then go to Helsingborg.

For Malmo, one day is definitely enough! Check out the city's three main plazas, pay a visit to the castle & museum, and hit up a couple good restaurants & cafes and you're set. It's an easy city to explore in one perfect day👍

Definitely - do you see this as a positive or a negative? Malmö definitely has a mixed reputation
