I literally just purchased the Air 2S as an update to my Mavic Air 2. The size (I’m a fan of the heavier build of the Air 2S), the 20 MP sensor ~ 5K resolution, upward obstacle avoidance sensors, & range capabilities were my main drivers. I think the Mini 3 Pro is an awesome drone and one can’t go wrong with either, but the Air 2S just made more sense for me. Love this comparison video
Got both, the Air2s is definatley king if you can afford the little extra cash but the Mini3 is a beast for its size, one thing you didn't touch on is wind, the Air2s is rock solid in some pretty strong winds where the minis just cant handle it so something to think about if you live in a windy region 👍🏼
Could you tell me once u update the firmware on the mini 3 (10bit in D cinelike) how it compares to the air 2s D cinelike and the Air 2 s D log? Thanks a lot, i am still a Mavic pro 1 owner after all these years and it's time for an upgrade, (as my main camera i shoot EOS R6 and B cam EOS R.)
@@ChristiaanRoest79 for me they are almost identical, you can argue which looks better but it's up to the color grading afterwards if both are shooting 10 bit.
My concern for the mini 3 would be getting smacked around alot more in the wind compared to the air 2S. The built in screen on the remote is a big bonus.
Hi Jason The A2s is a fantastic drone and better than the Mini3 Pro. But as I live in Europe and also plan to take the drone on my travels the sub250gr is a must. My perfect drone would be a sub250gr A2s and the Mini3 Pro comes close. In my country, as in all Europe, you have to register all camera drones. Luckly the registration in Portugal is free and valid in all EASA countries. However, in Portugal an A1-A3 CofC is needed to fly sub250gr drones, that's not the case on other EASA countries. I took my A1-A3 CofC on a free on line course from the Luxemburg Aviation Authority and valid in all EASA countries for 5 years. The big, I would say enormous, difference between the actual Mini3 Pro and the actual A2s are the operations that can be done with each drone in Europe. The Mini3 Pro, or any other sub250gr drone, can fly in subcategory A1 over uninvolved people (not over crowds) with the A1-A3 CofC. The A2s can only fly in the subcategory A3 (more than 150m/450 feet from people, buildings and recreational areas) with A1-A3 CofC. It can fly in the subcategory A2 (at least 50m/150 feet from people and buildings) with the much more complex A2 CofC until December 31st 2023. After January 1st 2024 the A2s can only fly in subcategory A3. Today I went to fly my Mini1 on a medieval village taking photos and videos of the XII century templar tower and XV century church. I couldn't have made these flights legally with the A2s as they fall in the A1 subcategory. After, December 31st 2023 all drones sold in Europe must a C class marking. The Mini3 Pro will be a C0 class (sub250gr) and both the A2s and the M3 will be a C1 or a C2 class drones. By weight they are C1 (from 250gr to 899gr) but there are other requirements that can make them fall in the C2 class. If both fall in the C1 class they can fly in the A1 subcategory like the C0 (just no intended flight over uninvolved people) with the A1-A3 CofC or if they fall in the C2 class they can fly in the A2 subcategory with the A2 CofC. An A2s with a C1 class would be a good buy in Europe. I bought the Mini3 Pro to replace my 2,5 yo Mini1 with the DJI RC plus the FMK. It is going to be delivered by DJI next Tuesday. My next trip is to a medieval village inside the castle walls and I am excited to have my Mini3 Pro tracking me on a walk around the castle walls. Just a note, you shouldn't compare the price of the A2s with the Mini3 Pro with the DJI RC. The price to compare is the A2s with the Mini3 Pro with the standard controller. In this case the difference is greater but if you don't have weight restrictions the A2s is the best buy.
I also did the A1-A3 course and registered here in Estonia. I have a Mavic 2 Zoom currently but that still required an A2 certificate to fly close to people and residential areas, so I’m limited under A3 for now. I’m planning to get the Mini 3 Pro for pretty much the same reason as you. I thought also about the Mavic 3, but I’m concerned they may not be retro certified to C1 which would automatically limit it to the A3 category after the 2023 cutoff. I’ll wait to see what happens then the new certification comes into force before I buy anything over 250G in Europe.
Had similar problem, purchased air2s but after deep consideration i decided return it and get mini 3 pro. Why? Video and pictures quality is very similar, mini 3 pro is much better in low light, mini 3 pro is much quieter. Air2s is good drone but for travel purposes is not worth all hassle with registration etc
@@johns2260 exactly. I have taken my Mini3 Pro to the Dominican Republic and I am going to take it to Cape Vert islands without any hassle. The Mini3 Pro camera has improved with firmware updates and now the A2s is only marginally better than the M3P and at night the M3P is better. The only thing where the A2s wins is the stability of flight when windy.
You don't need a sub 249g drone in the U.S. the laws are equal across the board no matter what size it is (assuming it's under 55lbs). The ONLY advantage to having a lighter drone is that you are not required to register it. It's only 5 dollars if you buy something over that weight so it's not a big deal. You still have to register the Mini 3 if you use it in any way to generate profit including just having a monetized UA-cam channel.
Hearing a fair bit about wind and battery stress warnings on the mini 3 - if you fly in a lot of wind (or need to or dont have control over your shoot days) then you should lean towards the Air2s (or even the Mavic series)
I've had the Mini 3 Pro for almost a week now, I'm based in Melbourne. No issues with the range as some have mentioned, no connection issues, urban or rural, and the D-Cinelike is great for grading. This and a Mavic 3 will be my kit, goodbye to my Air2S which is a great drone, but not much it can do that the Mini 3 cant. Mini 3 isnt as bad in the strong wind as some would have you believe, it may look jittery in big wind, but the gimbal works a treat
Planning get the mini3, but restricts me, as some have mentioned the the range is very bad,, to the point of it being disconnected with merely 400m.. Yours have no issue as far as range is concerned?
@@nestoryabut2756 No, I dont normally do "range tests" but I flew 2450m from my house and back with full connectivity, fringe of melbourne not full urban
@@peninsulaaerial1367 thanks mate, finally got my mini3 pro, and you are correct. This is a beast! Really exceeds my expectations, especially now a 10bit capable👍
Great Video. For me 10 bit is everything. I've been working in VFX for a long time and 10 bit is a must. Different jobs need different things though. Thanks for the breakdown.
One must also add... it won't need Remote ID that is required on all drones over 250 grams come September 2023. If you buy any Air 2S now... it will basically be unusable in a year. Unless you purchase a dongle that provides Remote ID. I canceled my Air 2S order after I realized that. If I go get my Part 107.. then buy then, they will have bigger better drones out there with that new tech installed
Per DJI - “What do I have to do now? Nothing, for now. Existing drones won’t have to transmit Remote ID signals until September 2023. We anticipate many of the most commonly used DJI drones will be able to comply by then through a free software update.”
I just ordered the Air 2s since insta 360 just released their 360 camera for it called the sphere, which I just ordered as well! Can’t wait to check them both out!
I live in the US and I decided to go with the Air2s. I bought it as a gift to myself for passing the part 107. Since I will have to register it anyway and add Remote ID as part of the part 107 requirements since it will be used to make money as well the weight will be over 249g. FYI for you guys buying the drone for social media if you make UA-cam videos and your monetized you must get your part 107 same applies for instagram, til tok, etc… unless you don’t mind paying hefty fines. I guess I will have to register my drone when I go on vacation.
I think the Mini 3 pro is going to be great for the social media creators that do the closer footage like following their car, etc. Same for the professionals who don't need long range, like real estate being smaller and quieter. With the advantage to draw less attention from neighbors while the improved camera using 10 bit now for the greater flexibility in post.
So I was on the fence and decided to go with the Air 2S. Not just a bigger sensor, 10-bit D-log not the fake Cine-log, 20 megapixel cam, not the 12 with the fake 24 megapixel of the Mini. More dynamic range because of the larger 1 inch sensor. More stability in the air just because of its size and mass and finally 4 way collision detection including on the top sensors. Also the precision landing on the Air 2s is fun as is the downward LED landing light. No regrets. Plus, it's almost the same size as the Mini 3 Pro since they increased the size a lot from the Mini 2. You can hardly call the Mini 3 Pro a pocket drone anymore because not only is the body thicker, the arms are longer, the propellers are bigger and the smart controller is way larger than any pocket the clothes most people wear. What good is a pocket drone if the controller is so large you need to lug it around in a separate case?
I have my Mavic Mini 1 to my brother-in-law when I picked up the Mavic 3 fly more. I'm loving it as it is so stable in the air when it's windy. As much as I loved the Mini's portability and compactness, I would have an anxiety overload when I feel the slightest gust. With the M3, that's all gone now. The Mini 3, would be an awesome edition my gear, especially because of thr Portrait Mode. I'm not a tiktoker but I do Instagram Reels and UA-cam shorts once in a while....so cropping into the 16:9 image just loses a lot of whatever it is I'm trying to capture. Can you imagine for the Mavic 3s, having a rotatable camera with the 4/3 main camera and possibly...a 1/1.3 sensor to replace the ½ secondary sensor....using Explorer Mode in Pro with Portrait Mode and call it something catchy, I think that would be cool. 7x zoom on the 1/1.3 sensor in Pro Mode and D-log....damn
Great video, Jason! In the US, we can fly 250g+, non-commercially. We just have to register the drone with the FAA, which takes about 10 minutes and costs about $5. Once we plan to make money using our drone, even less than 250g, a much more significant Part 107 drone pilot license is required.
@@rbutov Mexico only allows foreigners to fly legally sub250gr drones. In Europe a foreigner can fly any drone as long as it is registered and the remote pilot has the relevant Certificate of Competence CofC. It will be very difficult for a foreigner to have the A2 CofC (required to fly the A2s or the M3) as the final exam is in class room at the local Aviation Authority that may also require a pratical exam. The A1-A3 CofC required for sub250gr drones is free and on line.
Hi in Czech republic we have to do that registration stuff because its not a toy and if it is and has camera it still needs to be registered upper weight limit for Open category of drones is under 900grams that means 595 or 249 isnt that big deal but it still have some impact
Air2s combo with a RC controller is $1500 if you buy the M3P with the combo it’ll be around $1200, with the wind resistance of the air2 I feel has the advantage. Be able to fly your drone without worrying about wind is a great feeling. Unless you absolutely want the vertical shooting, I would take the air2s
@@austin-ie7ic another disadvantage with the Mini 3 that most of these reviewers neglect to mention that it not able to go anyway near the stated max distance

Picked up a Mavic Air 2 fly more combo off a guy on Ebay, only flew it 3X for $600 + $48 Tax +$21 delivery $671 total. The DJI Air 2S & Mini 3 pro will also drop in price. Why is everyone comaparing the Air 2S with the Mini 3 when in my opinion The 2S is way better Than Mini 3 Pro and is closer in comparison to the Mavic Air 2? Well done thumbs up, Great video.TY for sharing.
question rather than a statement but I have the Air 2 , I'm in the UK and only fly to make memories, supplement yt vids (in future) is the mini 3 pro a worthwhile upgrade to the air 2, sorry if bone question but heads hurting trying get a definitive answer,.I know some will say use what you got and I get that 100% but at some point got to upgrade with the advances, hope that makes sense. Thanks guys/gals in advance.
air 2S seems to be better mine main concern is that dji mini 3 pro you are not limited in places to use it thus you will use it way more often , as Air2S you can use it where is no people I really want to be wrong on this. Please correct me, as my first choice would be air2S , but ability to use it everywhere goes to dji mini3 pro. and air 2 S will gather dust waiting for opportunities to be used in rural areas VERY HARD CHOICE AS YOU CAN HAVE ONLY ONE DRONE…
Trying to decide between the two. Wind is a big deal for me as I live in the Columbia River gorge where gusts are typically in the 20’s mph and it’s not uncommon to see then push 40mph. That said, I love the RC and 249g of mini 3 pro. Would I be nuts not to get Air2S given the wind?
@@erbartlett I just got the Mavic Air 2 on discount and it’s performed well so far. Only flew two days and doubt gusts ever got above 30mph but it performed flawlessly!
@@daniell80781 i have the first mavic air and it gets tossed around a lot in wind over 18-20mph... some of the issue is that the gimbal doesn't have the full range that it needs to fly foward and still stay flat when a gust hits and the drone tilts even more forward
DJI really hit the sweet spot for most hobbyists. I wish it made the support list for DroneDeploy but I’ll have to go with Air 2S for now. Might still buy one of these in the future just for leisurely travel. That new RC controller is sweet though, really wish they make it compatible with the Air 2S.
Every time there will come new best thing on the market and ofcourse they want to sell them as much so ofcourse almost everyone will say that it is better. And notice that there will be some good things to say about previous best thing just to not sound like a seller.
If you are not worried about the 250gram then I would definitely go for the 2s. Bigger sensor will always be better than software. I think the controller will be available for other models soon
I purchased the mini 3 pro but have almost cancelled the order several times as I can get an air 2s right now. I will not get my mini 2 until July 11th, atleast that is what it said when I purchased it. I am still flying my mini 2, and am really anxious to get a low light camera on a drone.
Just a quick note, in the US it’s $5 for 3 years to register it. If you can afford the drone you can afford $5 and shouldn’t take the under 250g weight Into consideration so hard. The 10bit on the A2S alone is enough to make the decision for you if you value professional quality whatsoever.
I have a Mavic Air2 (non S version) and am considering the Mini Pro 3... I know the new one has a bigger sensor and other features, but I am a little nervous about the wind resistance compared to a larger Air2... that's the only thing holding me back.
I can tell you that the wind resistance on all these newer dji drones are great, I flew the Mini se in 20+ mph winds with no real effort, and the mini 3 is supposed to be better.
Y’all are making me feel a little better, and I did watch the rainmaker video which was impressive. I just keep reading comments where people say that it’s not gonna hold up as well as a heavier drone like the air 2.
It is often said, be careful what you wish for. How far can you fly the M3 before you loose sight of the drone, really not that far. As you can not add extra strobe light to the Mini3, as it will take it over the 250g limit, you have a pretty useless drone. As someone else has pointed out, with the RC+ screen controller, you are stuck with DJI Fly App, as you can't install other apps such as Litchi and Dronelink, which is what everybody wanted before for their Mini 1, 2 and Se. DJI's active track doesn't come even close to GPS Follow, and from what I have seen so far, Mini 3 doesn't either. And again, careful what you wish for.
reason for buying the mini 3 pro to the Air 2 and other bigger drones is weight 249grams , no need to sign up to the CAA or take a test, i have most of the other DJI Drones and i have been flying since 2012, so its not sower grapes, you can buy it and use it end of story, happy flying
What about the Air 2S with the fly more and smart controller for $1,500? It seems the mini 3 after fly more and ND filters (when they come out) will be almost that price and in the US the weight isn't an issue as much. But that controller is outdated and won't be supported, that's why it's on sale.
Definitely another 2S type drone coming this year if not this summer. Best Buy and others already doing discounts on them in all the package versions and they usually don't do that until Holidays or prior to details confirmed of a new release. Like the rumor with the cinewoop by DJI, the FPV has gone back to Christmas pricing at $999 almost everywhere.
Was frustrated about the mini 3 Pro not compatible with the RC Pro.. out of frustration, i bought the dji Fpv and couldn’t be happier about my purchase! I have the air2s/rc pro combo for those lazy slow flying cinematic shots, and then the adrenalin fast pace low proximity shot on point racing feel on the controls responsiveness is well worth it..now i am complete.. i have the racing Ferrari of drone and the smooth calm flying of the air2s
No matter how many videos I watch…I am still torn between which to get 🤷♂️. I never owned a Drone and was sure the Air2S was the best choice as it had everything I wanted….except it was above the 250gr but has a betrr camera and obstacle avoidance was excellent ( the extra weight was a bit of a bummer as portability was one of my criteria..but the extra weight and size was in reality not all that much of a difference i though 🤔) So I really could do with some advice…..in the Philippines the weight doesn’t matter other than that…. I would only use it in Australia 🇦🇺 Which is the better choice…i don’t do the social media stuff but probably will in the future…ohh dratz….this is crazy hard to decide 😵💫😵💫🥴🤷♂️
…+1 for the Air 2S - better construction, metal lower body, fan cooled, less plastic and toy-like. Real 1” sensor of 20MP, not 12MP. The weight with respect to carrying isn’t even noticeable over your shoulder. Side by side, you will regret not getting the Air 2S. Buy once, cry once👌🏻 no regrets!
@@wolfiemedia there were two that I liked the video quality of during the test. There was one that I didn't care for and one that I thought was just okay. @@Mike-DuBose that’s exactly the opposite of what I found ha ha. I picked 3 (Air 2S) and although the Autel looked good, it was too sharp and over-saturated for an unedited file. I like to do that myself, and so the more processed, the more work it is to undo (it’s impossible to undo the sharpness effectively once applied and saved). On the other hand, people like a finished product with no/minimal editing - it’s each to their own, of course! Have a great day 👍🏻👍🏻
Which do you recommend for a newbie? The price of the 2s with smart controller bundle isn’t far off from the mini 3 pro bundle. I’m in US and weight isn’t a huge concern. It’s easy enough to register the 2s with FAA. Just be hobby use no plans for any social media posts so camera isn’t that important. There are two things that make me uncertain which to get. The 2s has top object avoidance which for a beginner I’m wondering if would be better to have. The other concern is noise level. Is the mini 3 noticeably quieter?
Great comparison! I've had the Air 2S for a while now, and I looked at the Mini 3 as a potential replacement, but decided against it. Ten-bit color and 8 gigs of on-board storage are more important to me. I can keep cropping shots for the socials for now. :)
@@wuzey2006 I took a very hard look at it, and if I didn't have a drone, I would go with the Mini 3 Pro. I make use of the 5.4k video and manually pan a lot when I crop to vertical aspect. I decided to keep the Air 2S. I just posted a video about the decision on my channel.
@@71rajat The Mini 3 rotates the camera, so you're shooting in 4k in vertical aspect. Instagram and Tiktok don't use that level of resolution (yet), so it's a bit overkill. If I shoot in 5.4k on the Air 2S I still have more vertical pixels than I need, so I can either scale down or zoom out a bit. I don't always get the subject perfectly framed, so with a wider original I can center it wherever I want. If I didn't have a drone, I would buy the Mini 3, but I'm keeping the Air 2S for now.
I bought an Air 2S for higher wind resistance and a higher top speed in normal mode. The Mini 3 is no slouch however. I just wanted something faster for what I'll be using it for.
Been flying since the p2, had the p3p and p4p... Local regulations made me sold the p4p wich had an amazing quality and was very reliable because I mostly shot events and I had to use it 150m away from people... Got the mini 2 to be able to fly 5m away from people, it was a big downgrade in quality and remote control ergonomics losing the second wheel to adjust exposure on the fly. Also having no image adjustments was bad to color match with mirrorless videos... Now the mini 3 pro with better aperture almost 1" sensor, cinelike 10bit I get almost as good low light performance and the smart controler ads the second wheel c1 and c2 buttons wich is a must for any film creator... I've been very pleased with the mini 3 pro, it's on another league compared with the mini 2...
hello, thank u for the great review! one question: on some videos it says there is a heating issue. once it s hot even not flying because of the heat it stops. Any info about that? thank u
From reading title only: The 249g and flight rules in our countries. :P *watching your video now* /automatically thumbs-up your video. Done watching: Spot on, I think the biggest con with the Mini 3 is the fact that it does not have 10bit color, now that my Sony cameras capture 10bit and it does make a difference. But then again, a lot of drone shots are made to spice up a video and are only shown relatively briefly. So 8bit is probably fine until the next iteration of the Mini series.
Belgium is open cat A1 for sub 250 gr that means just doing a online test about the new EU regulations. And you can fly over people that aren't involved. For the air 2s you need to get a certificate for flying in open cat a2 because he is more then 250gr you need to do the eu regulations test and also a extra exam about law/privacy/meteorology/technology and so on. You can't fly over people that aren't involved (need 50 meter distance in normal speed or 5 meter distance in slow speed)
my country if not wrong had a minimum weight drone law too but i forget how much is it lol and my question : since this mini cutie (still) doesn't had Log Profile but had some kind of Cinelike profile, how hard grading on this one (plan to upgrade my old comrade Mini 1st gen)

Air2s combo with smart controller just a couple hundred more than the mini 3 combo with rc (and no nds) if you have a license the 2s is a no brainer if not the 3 should be good for a couple years
@@JasonMorrisphotocinema actually isn't. If you post a video and get revenue you should have a Part 107 license. In Europe there is no difference between commercial or hobby operations. Thanks for this video! Great insights my man. As a Mini 2 owner I’d say Mini 3 pro all day long. There’s just too many upsides. The size, price, battery life, and the wind resistance is good for the size. I’m going to have to pass on the Mini 3 pro but it’s only because I can’t get caught up in buying every upgrade.😕
f1.7 lets in 3 times more light than f2.8. That is a lot more than a little bit. If dji's advertised specs are correct of a 1 inch and a 1/1.2 inch sensor, then the surface areas are 123 mm and 85mm respectively. That makes the 1/1.2 inch having 70% the surface area of the 1 inch. .7 x 3 = 2.1 Therefore the amount of light hitting the 1/1.2 inch at f1.7 is OVER TWO TIMES the amount as the 1 inch at f 2.8. Is my math correct? (I rounded the numbers a bit so it is not completely exact.) Or am I WAY off?
More light, correct, onto a smaller sensor. With a larger (better) sensor, you can create an image not only with lower noise, but greater color depth, and larger dynamic range at the same time.
Have both, mini 3 pro is the better drone. Air 2S more solid and powerfull, can handle wind better, but makes much more moise than mini 3pro. In low light the result of mini 3 pro is better. The mini 3 pro is the drone to go specially in urban areas. The air 2S is the drone to go when the wheater is not that nice. but overall, I like the mini 3 pro more
@@johns2260 explained it in my comment. Mini 3pro is much more silent, much more portable, if you compare image quality you will hardly see the difference and in low ligyt mini3 pro performs better imo. Don’t trust this drone, mini 3 pro is designed for flying in good weather conditions and not too far. That’s make for me this drone totally useless . Second opinion is battery life…in windy conditions max 20 minutes flying time, maybe because you need to use sport mode. I didn’t test range…was afraid loosing this drone. Air2s is louder, but much safer. What’s the point buying drone and flying in 50-100 distance, where you can’t do what you want- like catch nice scenery without having heart attack.

It's not really 1.7. looking at the crop factor for the Air 2s 1 inch sensor - it's a crop factor of 2.7. The new mini 3 pro has a higher crop factor (not sure what it is). f/2.8 (x 2.7) = f/8 approximately. f/4 = f/11 . The 1.7 is nice and if you like twilight and evening flying it might be slightly better, but given the smaller sensor its close to a wash

And if you consider 12MP vs 20MP in the camera world, most likely Mini3P will perform better in lowlight but real world, not sure.
I saw some reviews of the range of the Mini 3 pro and it was disappointing at least. Signal dropped at a tiny bit of distance and above non urban areas. I don't know if that has to do with European regulations and therefore the European (CE) drones are crippled by DJI. Who knows?
CE transmissions are less powerful than FCC. That is shown on the range attained by CE drones that is shorter than FCC drones. But we have to fly VLOS and the range shouldn't be more than around 500 m.
@@armandoferreira8790 Thnx for your explanation. So this Mini 3 pro becomes less attractive for me. I won't spend that amount of euro's for a drone that has been crippled by DJI for the European regulations. I'll stick to my Mini 2. Great range. 😉
Some thoughts… ”Almost a 1” sensor” …isn’t it a whopping 25% less? Get paid 25% less and tell me it’s almost the same. Facts, not fabrication - 20MP vs. 12MP (not 48MP). The Mini 3 Pro has less FOV which is important for landscape aerial shots. Air 2S Fly more (Australia) is $2099, the equivalent Mini 3 Pro is only $1378 ($1119 drone and standard remote & $259 for the Fly more) leaving a gap of $721 between them. What does that tell you in terms of comparison/build/quality? This is yet another bias (Mini 3) reviewer I’m afraid. The Air 2S is a tier 2 drone (top of that range) and the 3rd tier Mini 3 is the top of the bottom of the range. Where’s the real info for people who don’t know? With 50K subs, you have a responsibility to make an honest comparison. The Mini 3 is a great little drone, no doubt, but it is what it is, a 3rd tier drone. Perhaps check out GavinHR’s channel, he seems legit?
Although you're technically right, I still think these drones are very competitive to each other. I flew both this week honestly can say that I could not tell which footage belonged to which drone. The smaller sensor is in my opinion compensated by the larger aperture and yes, the build quality might be worse on the mini but you get a sub 250gr and this only results in a "cheaper feeling" when you unfold the drone. device in return. I would choose the mini over the air 2s for it's weight en size (for local laws and being a hiker who likes lightweight lol), reduced noise (this is a huge difference where no one really seems to talk about) and price point. To only reason I'd go for the Air 2s for me would be the 5k resolution if I'd ever needed it. And as I'm typing this commend, I discovered that DJI will release a wide angle lens soon, which compensates for the FOV! Never the less I respect your opinion, I thought you might appreciate a non biased story from an average drone pilot who just likes to Mini 3 over de Air 2s ;-)
@@bjornjansen5266 I do appreciate it, thanks for the reply 👍🏻 it always comes down to personal preference/usage. I would say, that the larger aperture does allow more light - but onto a smaller sensor. The Air 2S has no issues with not receiving enough light, and so the larger sensor is better. In low-light situations, more light onto a smaller sensor may look great - but it creates noise compared to a larger sensor. You make a good point about laws etc and I hope that some consideration is made for older drones like the Air 2S (C markings or whatever they are called). The noise. Well. I 100% agree with you there! That would be great to have that. Bigger motors, bigger props - it’s never going to happen ha ha. Cheer 👍🏻😎

Is this a firmware update for the DJI Mini 3 Pro?
I literally just purchased the Air 2S as an update to my Mavic Air 2. The size (I’m a fan of the heavier build of the Air 2S), the 20 MP sensor ~ 5K resolution, upward obstacle avoidance sensors, & range capabilities were my main drivers. I think the Mini 3 Pro is an awesome drone and one can’t go wrong with either, but the Air 2S just made more sense for me.
Love this comparison video
Calvin- is the 2S significantly better than Air 2 in high winds? I’m considering saving $500 and entering the hobby with the Air2
@@daniell80781 they are basically the same in size/weight. No noticeable differences there. I’m looking to sell my Air 2
Thanks! Your feedback tipped the scales and I went with the (discounted) Air 2- great value and I get the wind resistance. Thanks again!
I have an air 2s and mini 2, I like the form factor much better in the air 2s and its unstoppable in the wind
What types of wind speeds can each one handle and how far away will you venture in such winds?
And to add to the insult is the air 2s has much faster speeds if you want to survive on those 20-30mph winds
Is mini 3 pro has a foggy lens issue
I own both drones and after doing some tests i think the footage of the Air2s looks better overall.

Curious about your impressions of each of them in high winds? At what speed of wind gusts will you hesitate to fly each of them?
My concern for the mini 3 would be getting smacked around alot more in the wind compared to the air 2S. The built in screen on the remote is a big bonus.
The early reviews in the wind seem to be very good and improved over the mini 2.
How many km’s of wind is necessary to impact a drone??? #nube
Hi Jason
The A2s is a fantastic drone and better than the Mini3 Pro.
The CE version obviously has less range the the version we get in Australia (FCC)

@@nestoryabut2756 Agreed, 10 bit D Cinelike is a great, unexpected addition :)
Need the Mini 3 for tight spaces like urban areas. The Air 2s for scenic scout missions along beaches and open areas with higher winds.
Wind resistance should be similar as far as I understood! They both manage level 5 winds.
Scenic scout missions? Do you fly for the Air Force?? Lmao
Agreed
They are not quite the same
Just ordered my mini 3 pro including combo kit and waiting for delivery. 🙂
😆😆😆👍
99.9999999999% of consumers will never be concerned with 10Bit. If it gets up in the air and delivers nice pics then job done.
10bot is definitely true. And I am happy I ordered it on day 1. No more +250g drones necessary.
Finally, a drone review....I've been watching your Sony a7iv review for the past six months.
Hahaha been too long when it comes to drones
Which would you use if you wanted to shoot interior real estate
Just cross Canadian border and try to use 2s ;)
Ps: it’s impossible to register drone in Canada if you are not citizen :) I think other countries has the same rules :)
Both the Air 2 s and the Mini 3 along with the Mini 2 will require Real ID when it goes into effect next year.
@@dheller777 I believe that sub250gr will not be required to have remote ID, the same happens here in Europe.

Just a quick note, in the US it’s $5 for 3 years to register it. If you can afford the drone you can afford $5 and shouldn’t take the under 250g weight Into consideration so hard. The 10bit on the A2S alone is enough to make the decision for you if you value professional quality whatsoever.

Wind resistance on the DJI website is rated the same as the Air 2S
Watch the DC Rainmaker channel. He has a wind resistance test of the Mini3 Pro that you must watch.

Just in time for the new video. Already getting this

Believe me, you really don't need to upgrade.
Hi, thank you for the video. In terms of noise, which of the two is the most silent/ low pitch?
It has 10bit now.
Your wish has been granted. Firmware update gives 10 bit
@@JasonMorrisphotocinema wow, insane!
I think they added 10-bit now, didn't they?
I’m still considering, I find the Autel Nano plus a better choice when I comes to image quality. 🤔
my country if not wrong had a minimum weight drone law too but i forget how much is it lol
and my question : since this mini cutie (still) doesn't had Log Profile but had some kind of Cinelike profile, how hard grading on this one
(plan to upgrade my old comrade Mini 1st gen)
10 bit in the mini would've been nice guess i wont switch for the weight and aperture and portablity and vertical video :'(
Thanks for sharing this great video. Like 👍 and Subscribed.
I’m Australia you don’t need a licence for drones under 2kg you don’t need a licence if your just using the drone for flying and taking photos.
Where can I order that shirt?
Nice video ✌️, liked & subscribed, thanks for sharing ‼️
Thank you
I think it will be still like it was when i had trip in portugal. I fly inside the whole in rocks without any problem my m2air ans guy with mini2 almoust loose the drone.
I think for stabile shoots still air2s will be vwtter. But really it has not 10 bit v log? Flip camera its nice feature dope.. also
So we wait for air 3 to be best middle man :D
I think so
Air2s combo with smart controller just a couple hundred more than the mini 3 combo with rc (and no nds) if you have a license the 2s is a no brainer if not the 3 should be good for a couple years
The faa STILL REQUIRES a part 107 license if you want to fly commercially (make money) with a sub 250g drone.
It’s just a weight class difference
Which I guess being UA-camrs and getting ad revenue is a big grey area
@@JasonMorrisphotocinema actually isn't. If you post a video and get revenue you should have a Part 107 license.
In Europe there is no difference between commercial or hobby operations. The licenses are required on a operations risk assessment not matter the purpose of the flight.
As flying a drone is to be done safely the European approach is more valid than the US.
@@armandoferreira8790 I see. Laws in australia are different where if you make ad revenue it is considered a business specifically if you trade under and ABN
@@JasonMorrisphotocinema there’s probably never been a case where a UA-camr has been prosecuted for making money from their UA-cam channel (for not having a license) but that may change eventually
@@TolarRay there has been many UA-camrs in the past been contacted about their drone usage in videos.
The Only thing I can see that makes the Air2S better than the Mini is the extra weight and the stability in strong wind that comes with extra mass.
According to the DJI website the wind resistance tests are the same as the Air 2s
Wind resistance is not the same as making it back home in a headwind. Obviously the air2s will do much better making it home in a headwind .
Yeah coming from the mini 2, the mini 3 is looking good haha
f1.7 lets in 3 times more light than f2.8. That is a lot more than a little bit.
If dji's advertised specs are correct of a 1 inch and a 1/1.2 inch sensor, then the surface areas are 123 mm and 85mm respectively. That makes the 1/1.2 inch having 70% the surface area of the 1 inch.
.7 x 3 = 2.1
Therefore the amount of light hitting the 1/1.2 inch at f1.7 is OVER TWO TIMES the amount as the 1 inch at f 2.8.
Is my math correct? (I rounded the numbers a bit so it is not completely exact.)
Or am I WAY off?
More light, correct, onto a smaller sensor. With a larger (better) sensor, you can create an image not only with lower noise, but greater color depth, and larger dynamic range at the same time.
Hey, now I found you. I have been looking for you on UA-cam. But now I found you bro. 💪
Hahaha here I am
Appears as if D-cini records in 10bit according to a post from Phillip Bloom.
Oh really? Hmmm interesting
I really like the new controller and if I would want a controller with a screen on the air 2s I would need to spend another $1000
You could almost call it the, "Mini Air 2S" I got one yesterday. It's so quiet
Finally someone who talks about the quietness! I couldn't hear it anymore after a few meter up in the air.
Have both, mini 3 pro is the better drone. Air 2S more solid and powerfull, can handle wind better, but makes much more moise than mini 3pro. In low light the result of mini 3 pro is better. The mini 3 pro is the drone to go specially in urban areas. The air 2S is the drone to go when the wheater is not that nice. but overall, I like the mini 3 pro more
What exactly is better in mini 3 pro?
@@johns2260 explained it in my comment. Mini 3pro is much more silent, much more portable, if you compare image quality you will hardly see the difference and in low ligyt mini3 pro performs better imo. But mini 3 pro is more fragile and wind has more influence on it. For me the mini 3 pro is the always to go drone, air 2s more for bad wheather
@@krissutherland5426 Thanks for reply. What about range. Similar to air2s?
@@johns2260 Maybe Air 2S bit better but not that much in my experience
@@krissutherland5426 Had today opportunity fly 2 drones and definitely go for air2s . Mini 3 pro looks like a toy. I flew in little windy conditions, mini 3 pro is not suitable at all ,dancing all the time, pulled up till 120 meters and the had to switch on sport mode because drone was struggling it wasn’t safe at all.
DJI NEEDS AN AIR 3
Take AIR2S...Mini 3 sucks at range...in city only 300-400 meters then is not usable...outside city after 1300 meters is jerking the video signal...O3 my ass.
The F1.7 will likely give better low light as well. I like the idea of sub 250 just for convenience.
@@CanuckQuest, @Steve WB,
Sensor sizes:
FF: 36mm x 24mm
1”: 13.2mm x 8.8mm
1/1.3”: 9.6mm x 7.2mm
Crop factor to FF:
1”: 36/13.2 = 2.7272
1/1.3”: 36/9.6 = 3.75
So for f-stops equivalent to FF:
1” @ f2.8: 2.8 x 2.7272 = f7.64 or f8
1/1.3” @ f1.7: 1.7 x 3.75 = f6.375 or f6.3
Don’t know if DJI added denoisers or not.
And if you consider 12MP vs 20MP in the camera world, most likely Mini3P will perform better in lowlight but real world, not sure.
now the mini 3 is able to manage 10 bits colors also
I order mini 3 pro.
The mini 3 pro is just too expensive here in germany
Because Canada 🇨🇦
I think once I start seeing the government follow the law, perhaps I will consider following it myself.
Air 2S has 10 bit dlog, M3pro has 10 bit on in d-cinelike
Yes
Cheer 👍🏻😎
@@wolfiemedia I think they are working on CE markings for "legacy" (I hate to use this word for a 1 year old model) drones, so let's hope for the best! Have a great day.
Was saving up for the mini 3 pro, but the epic fail of Dji is making a Pro name drone that is not compatible with my Rc Pro controller is not a PRO🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️..it should be called the mini 3 TikTok version only😂..there is nothing PRO about it if its not Rc PRO compatible😂😂🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Yeh but air 2s has 10bit video and 1" sensor.
Battery life mostly…in the USA weight isn’t a big deal but 47 minute battery is
47 minutes is pretty epic
