I’ve been really distancing myself from screens too. I deleted all social media off of my phone. I’m committed to it until January 2025 at least. I’ve been playing the radio on the local Christian radio station instead. Or I’ll hook up my Christian playlist that’s on Spotify. It keeps my mind on God but also satisfies my ADHD tendencies to always need that stimulation.
Tabitha, also listen to you channel. You and Kelsey are my go to Christian channels. I’ve cut back a lot of my screens and if it doesn’t help me on my biblical path I won’t watch it.
I didn’t finish the video yet but wanted to make a quick comment - the first thing you want to work on - talking to your children with more respect and less yelling - I absolutely love that you said that and were not ashamed to mention that this is an area you want to work. When you said that’s not how God deals with us - that is exactly how I think of it ❤ love that you got this conviction from the Lord and are a willing vessel to speak about it for others to hear and hopefully grow from ☺️❤
Those are all great, Kelsey! I’m a little ahead of you in parenting with older kids and you will be so glad you implemented all of these at a young age. Also, loved hearing all the sounds of happy kids and pups in the background. :) you did great keeping your cool!
Letting go of perfectionism is really a good point...but also eating as a family is great, which leads to less technology as well. Also appreciate your balanced approach to parenting.
This is great! I love this little update. Currently only on 1 toddler but this helps me set the tone with her. I agree with the yelling. We are cutting back. So hard when toddlers like to do dangerous things.
Oh Kelsey I so love your videos, it's a joy just to see it pop up in my feed and I can settle in for a valuable insight, lesson, and just share a bit of your life. You look radiant and I always am inspired to live out my faith more after I watch you!
Oh and the thing we have been adding is taking a day off once a week as a family. Guarding and protecting that can be a discipline in and of itself! But it truly is a blessing to know we have 1 day off a week devoted to reconnecting and spending time with God.
Joining you in some of these. Great video. It was so nice to hear your little ones just being kids. My youngest is 19 and I miss the little stages. I hope you and your family have a blessed rest of your week!
I'm a bit ahead in parenting (oldest is almost 23 and youngest is 6), but recently I've committed to making sure my younger kids are being taught the same level of responsibility as my older ones were. And yes, limiting technology for me (as I leave this comment on my phone...after watching your video while folding laundry 😬). "Screen time" is not a word in our family...my kids aren't on screens in any capacity (except older ones with phones, but they don't have any apps) throughout the week and I love that for them...why I haven't been as kind to myself i don't know. Great video! And great ideas. It always amazes me at how much more our kids are capable of when we let them. Even a young toddler can carefully cary a dish to the sink... I've had to watch them closely to make sure they don't toss it in the sink, but they are fully capable of clearing their spot at the table and putting a dish on the counter!
I feel this whole video on so many levels!! My youngest is older so we don't have the sippy cup thing but the eating out, the more self sufficient, the SCREEN TIME... I know a lot of my over stimulation is from being stimulated all the time!! It is good to be bored! Our brains need a break!! I have been turning to making sure my screen time is uplifting and pointed at God by doing Bible studies or listening to biblical inspiration but I do need to learn to enjoy my quiet time in prayer also!
I am in a very different stage of life as empty nesters. Technology is definitely something I need to address. I have been praying about limiting the number of UA-cam subscriptions and what that number should be. I can spend way too much time watching what others are doing rather than doing things I need and want to do. I recently started putting my iPad away on a bookshelf so I don’t see it laying out tempting me to scroll. The phone is tricky since it needs to be handy to answer messages, calls and I am on a prayer chain that utilizes texting. I just need to limit it to those important necessities and not entertainment. I am also praying about eliminating Facebook. We rarely eat out. We live in a small rural town and travel about 35 miles to grocery shop, etc. On errand days, we pack a lunch and eat it in the car or a park. Saves money and healthier. We started that in 2020 when everything shut down and have just continued it.
I've been working on some of these things as well. Love hearing you talk about them. I love the sams club metal water bottles with straws for children, they work great and don't get that off flavor from the plastic. I've been convicted to stop yelling and talk gently as well. And removing seed oils was a decision my husband and I talked about just last week. And I try to severely limit screen time, starting with myself and then with the children.
You are so in tune to the Lord and your family! So many good benefit's to change for your family! I especially care for outside play and reading book's and Craft's too! I like all of what you do to cook and prepare their meal's with them, yes it can be messy , but fun to learn and eat their creative way or what you plan! Have fun with your day's and Jesus!! 😋🥰🤩
I’ve been working on my phone habit too! Some days I fail and go on my phone more than I would like, but then I feel horrible after. And I try to remind my kids to bring their dishes to the sink too. My son actually broke a plate the other day 😅 but it was cleaned up and all was well.
i love it we raised 8 kids without technology and my kids are fine and better for it have you seen kids that are raised on technology believe me your doing the right thing
my kids are pretty much grown (21 & 17) so much of this doesn't apply LOL. One thing I wish I had done differently is pulling them out of public school earlier. But other things - LESS toys & clothes. Like I mean WAY less & i hardly ever bought them. i had cousins who passed down everything to my kids. But it was so much to 'manage' - like hours of picking up, cleaning, sorting, etc....hours that I could have had to do more important things. I am watching a young friend of mine repeat this behavior. Her son just has way too much stuff & he doesn't stay satisfied playing with any of it! I also wish that I had had the money for them to have less toys, but better quality toys. no to the sippy cups or any plastic dishes. I actually did not let my kids run around with any food or drink. They were put on a regular cup with a handle when in high chair age. If they wanted a drink, they had to have it sitting at the kitchen table. No snacks anywhere but seated at the table. That was how I was raised - it removes the choking concern, no mess on your furniture, no spills to slip on & teaches really good fine motor skills at a young age. My kids were using silverware independently by about 9 mos. old. I was really strict on table manners & it shows. they act like ladies when invited out & people always comment on their fine manners & courtesy. This has helped them in their young adult life, not embarrass themselves. We don't watch tv or listen to the radio anymore - I found that all the ads gave my kids a healthy dose of the 'gimmes'. I let them watch more tv than I probably should have when they were little & if I could go back it would probably be zero. One thing we were strict on, as well, was monitoring WHO was around & what kind of example they showed our kids. We even cut out biological family members if they were abusive or undermined us as the parents or set a very immoral example. So I always had supportive people who had our kids' best interests in mind & people that I felt were safe adults.
Same for me with fast food! About a year ago, I started working part time out of the home about 2-3 days a week. I leave early and stop and get a coffee and a breakfast sandwich on the mornings that I work. I use to only eat fast food maybe once every month or two with my family. Im not sure why this has become a new habit for me, but it’s going to stop! Another one of mine is weekly thrift trips. We thrift most of our clothing and household items. I try to keep a list of things I’m looking for, but usually always find an item or two that wasn’t needed. Although I’m not spending much, I’m still bringing unnecessary things into my home and I’m starting to notice discontent in the things that I already have because I’m always looking for something “better.” I’m starting to have that “thrill of the hunt” experience when I go and as silly as it sounds, is starting to become an addiction, so this is another thing that is going to stop. I don’t need things added to my home every week!
Same here about the kids! I have been working hard the last 2 years to stop yelling at my kids. I just don’t remember my mom yelling at my sister and me. I keep thinking how I want to be more like she was with us, so calming and peaceful. I used to be so patient, but once we reached the toddler stage something happened where I started getting more easily aggravated and irritated so I would have mom rage. And I hate that! I do feel like I’ve been so much better about it over the last year. ❤ We also have been trying to get our kids to bring their dishes to the sink too, still have to remind them a bunch! But there have been times they surprise me and do it without being asked. I try to wait till after the kids are in bed before going on my phone to social media, I’m not perfect at it though! And oh yes…processed food…my mom has been telling me about how bad that is since I was like 13. It is on my mind a lot, I still buy some because I am limited on time but I really want to try and implement a baking day or weekend where I try making snacks and bread from scratch! 😊
When my older kids were young, I used to yell hard at them, and looking back, I am upset with myself for doing that to sweet kids that didn't understand anything and I was impatient. Last week I was talking to them about how I am sorry that I yelled so much to them when they were young. The oldest who is nearly 18 said, "I remember two times you yelled only." I was like, "Really? I yelled a lot! Maybe I stopped earlier than I recall." I did say to them, "I know I used to apologize and try to fix the issues afterwards, so maybe that is why you don't recall it?" They shrugged at me like, "You're crazy." Like, I remember my dad yelling in anger and violently going after us when I was young so I really didn't want to do that. We have a budget for when we eat out too (we don't do fast food at all because it is nasty to me. I think the last time I had McDonalds, I was maybe 23). I am glad you are aware and strict on things like that! When your kids become teens, that number will JUMP a lot. Our family of 5 with basically 3 men, a baby, and myself, costs us about $80. We use stainless steel cups too! Yey! Loved learning about how you work as a family together. You're a great mom!
God has been calling me to care for my home. Food is the biggest one right now. I went grocery shopping and on most of my labels there is bioengineered food ingredients in most of all of it. I did my homework and it's man made chemicals. GMOs are modified natural elements that come from plants, animals, and nature. I have decided to feed my family right. If it says bioengineered food ingredients. I'm cutting it all out. I know food prices are ridiculous and our budget is stretched. But, it's pulling on my heart strings. I know God will always provide for my family and I.
Hi, Kelsey! I love that you are changing those things in your home. Each one of us has different circumstances and chalenges in our lives, and we have to live according to them, right? My husband and I are also trying to eat healthier and I noticed you talked about seed oils. We don't like them either and try to use olive oil for everything, even cakes. Wich reminds me, that in your last video, where you did the pumpkin muffins and the bread, you used an oil in your recipes. Was it olive oil or another oil? I want to change some of the recipes I make, so that I can substitute the less healthier ingredientes, for healthier ones.😉 In Proverbs 14_1-3 says "The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down. Whoever fears the LORD walks uprightly, but those who despise him are devious in their ways." I believe this also applies to the way we make food for us and our family and treat our bodies, wich are the temple of The Holy Spirit!😊
I used avocado oil. I know there are controversial things about it, so I’m not sure what oil I’m technically supposed to use lol. I use avocado and olive.
I’m trying to play outside more with my 20 month old before the weather gets super cold. Also, need to limit my screen time and my “getting stuff done” mode so I can really hone in on his speech. If anyone has tips, they’re welcome! We read but if anyone has had great success and knows how many minutes/hours they read together each day, that would be very helpful to me.
You should listen to Dr. Mark Hyman and/or Dr. Robert Lustig. They have such amazing information about processed food and sugar. It has completely changed how I feed my children
Why do you think Jesus is 'disapointed ofcourse' at you? I think Jesus knows everyone of us wil fail many times in our our lifes, in our day... That doesn't dusapoint Him. I don't believe He is. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 ASV [4] Love suffereth long, and is kind; love envieth not; love vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, [5] doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not its own, is not provoked, taketh not account of evil; [6] rejoiceth not in unrighteousness, but rejoiceth with the truth; [7] beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. [8] Love never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall be done away; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall be done away. Jesus is love. He wil always have hope and love for you. He sees your final goal.
Hear me out. Do NOT let your kids bring the dishes to the sink. It’s not just a broken plate. You have to worry about. If a dirty dish hits the floor and shatters it can send food everywhere and believe you me this is happened at my own house a couple of times. It is a nightmare because the whole world has to stop if it’s glass for you to clean up glass off the floor and everywhere else so somebody doesn’t get hurt. Please, for the love of God take my advice on this and do not let your kids take the dishes to the sink. It’s just not safe. What if they decide to grab a knife off the table to bring it to the sink to be helpful and drop it on their foot or fall and stab themselves with it or it’s a fork or whatever just do not do this.
This is not good advice. This is quite an exaggeration of the risks. We have to teach our children to live taking calculated risks. OR use unbreakable dishes.

Me too. This is real and relatable to me. Not all of us came from homes that didn’t yell. I’m doing my best but it ain’t easy work.
@@Keeper_of_the_Hearth breaking generational patterns is not easy to do, but it’s always worth it ☺️🤍
Those are all great, Kelsey! I’m a little ahead of you in parenting with older kids and you will be so glad you implemented all of these at a young age. Also, loved hearing all the sounds of happy kids and pups in the background. :) you did great keeping your cool!
YEEEEES! Same here for talking in more respectful way to our children ❤️
I do admire your commitment and advocacy on Godly homemaking. It is a great and unique purpose in these times. We need more of these. Keep on posting!

I didn't yell at my kids, but now I have a teenager. 😵💫 I need more patience. People warned me about teens but I wasn't prepared!
😬 I’m not prepared. Praying for your patience 🙏

If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus Is Lord" and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
Why do you think Jesus is 'disapointed ofcourse' at you?
I think Jesus knows everyone of us wil fail many times in our our lifes, in our day...
That doesn't dusapoint Him.
I don't believe He is.

@phindidlaminindzeku3793 Children break everything. It's normal.
I also need to stop shouting at my kids so much too🙏🏼🩷🙏🏼 wonderful chat
