    Goes without saying the results you want equals the effort you put into preparing the job, perhaps etching primer filler, primer, black gloss base coat before attempting the chrome, the shiner the black coat the brighter the chrome... all in a dust free environment, in a workshop damp everything down to stop the dust. Keep safe guys

      What you said is what I say all the time.
      Its not the actual chrome spray that achieves a shiny and reflective chrome look. Most of the shine and reflection comes from the gloss of the black coat. The chrome spray is just to make the shiny black coat more silver to make it look chrome.
      Without the black, the chrome is nothing more than a basic silver paint.

    • @jameslro110
      @jameslro110 7 років тому +4

      Its like the videos showing how easy hydrodipping is, they tell you just put film in water spray activator and immerse it. But the truth you need to do the whole process of spray painting and put it on the film while the paint is still wet or it wont get on the item. And this is the same you have to paint the item just minutes before you do this process.

    • @MrSkoobii666
      @MrSkoobii666 7 років тому +1

      You don't do it while the paint is wet.. I recently did a remote control car body at a mates shop who specialized in car parts and guns stocks.... depending on the type of film you use and color of the item being dipped, you do have to paint a colored base coat, but it has to be completely dry before dipping. And when you dip it, the film does coat your arms, but washes off easily or peals off when dry. You do then have to clear coat the printed item after to protect it and stop it from scratching off easily.

    Isn't this jst depositing silver onto the plastic, not chromium? Silver is the most reflective material which is why mirrors are made using it, but it is not durable! Chrome is very hard and durable which is why it is used both as a decorative and protective plating. Dont be fooled, real chrome plating is difficult, expensive, and toxic. It can't be legally done in the home setting.

    *That was pretty slick, I didn't know you could chrome plate without the item being conductive and using electrolysis like I do when I plate with gold or other precious metals. The big question here for me is if I were to exclude the silver seal rinse, would that chrome be conductive like regular chrome that is typically plated over nickel would be that it could be gold plated next with a typical electrolysis gold plating machine or is this more of a paint like chrome that is non-conductive?*

    If you reading this and your looking to chrome something on a budget, stop, your wasting your time. Chroming is rich mans land. If Mr average want's to chrome something.. you can't. Professional chrome platers are expensive and will only do batches so that rusty chrome lamp on your bike will forever be rusty...unless you are willing to part with some serious coin for something that was made cheaper (possibly by hand even) than it is shine the thing! Products like this are Seriously expensive... not because the chemicals cost a lot to produce, it's because they can. If these kits sold for a few dollars it would put almost every chrome plater in the world out of business it's that simple. It's 2017.. don't you think it strange that chroming is more out of reach than it is to change the colour of your hair?
    It's a con, plain and simple.

      @squirrel Killa - You need to do the pre prep work similar to how an automotive restore a bumper, sand, sand blast (if needed), etc, then the first coat will be the black paint, a good pre prep work will give you a better shine. So that's the reason it turns Chrome after spraying that medium. So the initial colour coat will be white, so it varies company to company. Hope this help.

    2.2 million views for a fake video...
    The photo on the spray metal label is of the exact same item you are "chroming".
    When you spray the metal on the object, the run off starts off black, then turns clear once the item appears chrome.
