This is why Stephen King is one of the best authors he can expertly take a folktale, or a simple, scary story and elevate it to new heights and put ideas in your stories, and make you wonder if there’s even a supernatural elements at all but then that questioning it self builds up to the super natural element and vice versa they both build on each other so well

Alright this comment got me haha and it's not even funny, it sucks and it's anything but funny, and it's deadly accurate but I nevertheless cracked up lol. Thank you for the laugh good sir!
I read King's Autobiography "On Writing" and he mentions at some point, that as a father he got very scared that he could get violent with his children. Because he would sometimes get exasperated with them or angry, maybe even hateful. (like if a kid is doing everything to keep up even though it has been bedtime forever). And he channeled it in writing very conflicted but violent men who end up being fathers, often not quite because they wanted it. Which gives us the Shining and many more, including this story. And I think it is very scary to deal with a life where you are trying to fulfill a role of a parent, protect and nurture your children while you feel unequipped to do so or maybe even feel like you don't want to do it. And that can be very destructive. I get why the movie made the children protagonists, but I feel like in the original story the horror is greater, because the kids are the ones the bad stuff happens to, due to a negligent or loveless parent. Sure, kids standing up to their own fear and trauma is a good thing when coupled with therapy, but I feel like the message of the original gets kinda lost, with the parent being the one who should own up and protect their children no matter how hard it can be.
It was nice to see a good horror movie in theaters, I feel like there hasn't been a good one in awhile that isn't the same old possession or conjuring movie
Agreed. While I do enjoy The Conjuring movies there is nothing like a good Stephen King book. If that book is made into a movie the right way and they stick to the story. You can't divert from his writing too much or you'll ruin it. I have always been a Stephen King superfan and his stories are the best,
@Raysha I liked that the story was different in The Pope's Exorcist, but the demon possession was the same as in other movies. The Evil Dead Rise was meh to me, but movies are subjective, at least if you consider it like a form of art. Even with The Boogeyman, many people thought it was "whatever" or even kind of bad, but many of us still enjoyed it. Don't have to be sorry about enjoying any movie
If you think about it the psychiatrist is still the boogeyman but only towards his family. His inability to grieve and listen to his daughters indirectly attracted the monster to them.
In my personal opinion: The first half of the movie was great with setting up a backstory and the menacing villain entity. However, by the second half where we are seeing the monster and the main characters are aware of its weaknesses; they still manage to sit in dark rooms and just chill while the monster is quite literally watching them at all times. Just a big face palm for me when they start to use light after being told and shown that the monster hates light, SEVERAL times before the big fight. The best they could do was christmas lights? Where was her phone? I must have missed that lol just blows me away when it gets written this way. They learned all the basics about the monster and use none of it. Hilarious.(also no one hangs out with their bully who makes fun of their dead mom)
David Dastmalchian is woefully under used in this film, as is the idea that the creature can shapeshift - why not have the boogeyman show up as Billings, or a car-crash-wounded version of the mother? the idea of splitting the therapy plus the stories of Harper's family and Lester's would have been perfect.

this adaptation of the boogeyman reminded me very heavily of a skinwalker, with the mimicking of voices. that was easily one of the scariest aspects of the monster
Yeah, but a "Skinwalker" in Navajo legend is just like you and me - a human being. The Skinwalker is a medicine man who uses evil medicine to transform into animals and sometimes other people. With the growing popularity of analog-horror, Skinwalkers have become a common household name nowadays. And when you think of it, an image of a deathly malnourished man-like creature comes to mind. However, that description doesn't fit the Skinwalker at all. The malnourished man-like creature actually very much resembles a Wendigo. I fear that in the past years, these two different creatures from two different tribes have become interchangeable.
I really enjoyed this movie, but I wish they explored more of how this creature affected other families around the world which could’ve added much more depth into the story. Overall I enjoyed this movie
Kinda curious about Lester's actor as to why they didnt make him sort of a villain/ boogeyman itself cause I mean he is perfect for the role with that unnerving expression which get progressively creepier when plays the villain/anti-hero. He was the joker proxy in gotham as well.

This was such a good movie and I plan to see it again. The end was pretty cool, Sadie hears the Boogeyman mimicking Dr. Weller's voice calling to her. She sees the closet door open a bit with a hanger moving. She's about to open it when Dr. Weller's comes out of the opposite room and asks want Sadie what does she want. Damn that was such a good scene. It was short but David Dastmalchian was really good, and would of liked to see more of him then what was given. Maybe we'll get a prequel focusing on his family? His also in the upcoming The Last Voyage of the Demeter, which I am also excited to see.
In PuertoRico we call the boogeyman El Cuco we use it to scare kids for sure . If you dnt go to sleep el cuco will get you awesome to see some of our childhood fears just brought into a movie like this
Holding yourself together when you’re broken doesn’t help anyone. You can’t put a lego set back together without taking it apart first. Let the broken chunks separate, and then carefully dismantle them before reassembling.
Does anyone notice that "it" works in the EXACT same way as the boogeyman does in this movie? it comes for kids who have neglectful parents......that's the theme pennywise has. I know what IT is, and The boogeyman......All the places the movie depicts them being.......are places something else grows too.
I mean if we go by his multiverse theory all the way back to the Dark Tower. His books and stories are often interconnected in some way. It's most likely an entity from the Prim (the primordial darkness) that comes from outside our reality bubble. Basically nightmare creatures that can fall through the cracks known as thinnies and enter our would to feast on us. Pennywise was no exception, and I'm certain this thing wasn't either

If Stephen King is involved you know we're in for a nightmare fuel addled ride
Facts
Or something akin to Langoliers.
You mean a nightmare of his unhealthy focus on children, that culminates in "IT"?
Excellent long video Niyat 👌
Try making a video about the movies of ginger snaps
I'm really sorry, but I associate the word 'Boogey' with dancing ( even when spelled this way) so am finding it hard to take seriously. Now, 'Bogeyman' (pronounced boh-gee-man), however, is a very different entity...
Great tension and use of lighting
Where are the Guardians when you need em! Jack Frost can kick this guy's butt
Just saw it in theaters. Man the end had me on the edge of my seat 🍿😮 🕯️ 💀
i dont really enjoy watching the horror movies themselves but im glad these kinds of videos exist. im just more curious about the monsters and not the plot of the story. its all too cliche, too dumb when the characters are chased and such.
You gotta say spoiler or summ
@@zbw6913 Yeah, not really. It's been 2 months, and it was kinda in the video and like the video I left stuff out.
My family and I really enjoyed this movie. The trailer had us hooked.
In PuertoRico we call the boogeyman El Cuco we use it to scare kids for sure . If you dnt go to sleep el cuco will get you awesome to see some of our childhood fears just brought into a movie like this
Same in mexico. But it also be spelled el
cucuy

I loved this movie and it scared the shit out of me!
Could you do a video explaining "It Follows"?
I watch the bogeyman and it’s so good one of my favorite horror movies now
I Love her but every time I see her in anything especially a comedy I just see Brenda from Scary Movie
Ok the pictures at 5:03 6:09 and 6:23 are all terrifying
I just saw this with my nephew, it was actually pretty good
Holding yourself together when you’re broken doesn’t help anyone.
You can’t put a lego set back together without taking it apart first. Let the broken chunks separate, and then carefully dismantle them before reassembling.
well god damn.... that looks terrifying
GREAT FLICK ! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! THEY RARELY MAKE CREATURE FEATURES LIKE THIS ANYMORE.
Does anyone notice that "it" works in the EXACT same way as the boogeyman does in this movie? it comes for kids who have neglectful parents......that's the theme pennywise has.
I know what IT is, and The boogeyman......All the places the movie depicts them being.......are places something else grows too.
Yea but with it, that's really an eldtrich being
IT comes for every child, since they are easier to scare
I mean if we go by his multiverse theory all the way back to the Dark Tower. His books and stories are often interconnected in some way. It's most likely an entity from the Prim (the primordial darkness) that comes from outside our reality bubble.
Basically nightmare creatures that can fall through the cracks known as thinnies and enter our would to feast on us. Pennywise was no exception, and I'm certain this thing wasn't either
@Grayfox354 ohhhh makes sense. I was thinking an escaped demon from hell but I forgot this is Stephen King 😂
What I really want to know is where did the kid get the moon light that’s awesome
Kids disappoint you by getting some girl knocked up and shooting dope. That is a hilarious line.
Could you please do Kristen (2015) definitely a weird but interesting one
I skipped ITSV to see this and I loved it!!
Man somebody needs to adapt" The Jaunt" that story is so f'ed up.
I really think the acting was good. The two sisters were believable I think
Oooh could you do the apostles from berserk and the god hand youll love the lore of those devils
I thought this was going to be about The Boogeyman the wrestler.
That would have been a good movie
90% of the movie would just be him eating worms 😂
Hire John Wick he will deal with him 😂
He'll get trashed

This boogeyman is very similar to the way the boogeyman appears in the Discworld books.
I choose to believe they're cousins.
Which ones?
@@mrnice7570 primarily Hogfather, which also has a decent tv special adaptation. A few little cameos here and there in others.

Sophie Thatcher is such a star, she's great in everything she does
20:48 this short-changing of major story-points/themes being discarded & mishandled for the sake of lesser ideas has become more and more of a Hollywood trope
Really enjoyed the movie but those group of "Friends" needed to get stomped on. Sadie should have whooped Natalie's ass.
So many jumpscares cheapen the experience. It just feels like a fuck you to the audience and it's a cheap tactic. Real horror does not need to be sudden
“Jumpscares are to horror what the fart joke is to comedy.”
Best line I’ve heard
@@fireironthesecond2909 Exactly. I never understand why filmmakers think that audiences like to have heart attacks and think that's horror. After watching Chernobyl, that's real horror. It's slow, it's creepy, and it's disturbing. Well done horror movies have no jumpscares in them
