The tails they created for the Broadway show are so much better. It has a real fludity to the costume. The heelies combined with the tails really does create the illusion of them being underwater and swimming. I am so glad they decided not to go with wires. They can not dance if they are held up in the wires throughout a musical number.
It doesnt matter what skin colour the actors are, all that matters is that they are talented enough. No other actor could play King Triton as amazing as Norm Lewis!!
@@chelseabaker1994so if 10 women auditioned for, let’s say Aquata, and there was only one black woman, who was at least 5 times better than everyone else who auditioned for Aquata, would it be logical to reject the black woman simply because she’s not white? think about what you’re saying for just a second.
Thx for the upload. I actually tried cover her legs with my finger and surprisingly, it looks really good since the tail is on the right size and doesn't limp.
i LOVE flotsam and jetsum... even if i can't spell their names right... i wish they had gotten this much screentime in the movie!!!!! ... i also wish that ursula moved a little more onstage, but its probably due to her EPIC costume. so beggars can't be choosers. it's all still awesome!
3:08 absolutely breaks me. The entire song does. I was in a production of this show my junior year of high school (7-8 years ago) and it was so much fun, hearing pieces from it floods me with nostalgia🤣🥲
@UbhikhosiBoKhoKho LOL, I really find it amazing that so many people can't put 2 + 2 together and figure that out. Whoever filmed this could have gotten in big trouble, so appreciate it. :)
The sea king did good job with sapation with the song of the daughters of the king. Then the littlest daughter didn't remember about the concert till she realized what she discover from her friend out of the sea
Actually no she really is a princess because Triton is the king of Atlantica. With her being his daughter (plus the other six) shes was already a princess. So Ursula just helped her get her prince :)
wauw, you should see the dutch commercial of the Little Mermaid. They make al the mermaids actually fly like they are swimming under water and the costumes have way more details. Sebastian doesn''t even has his scissors here!
For something like that to happen is very incredibly rare. To have so many different variations within children of the same two parents is a very near impossible occurrence.
ummm I'm okay with Triton being black. Didn't faze me as I figured skin color under the sea doesn't matter. Like all the daughters have diff hair and tail colors so why not skin color too? But the tails... C'MON! it looks so weird sticking out their butts like that! Triton's tail looked better if you guys noticed. His was lower and part of his legs. should have stuck to that. and why doesn't flounder and scuttle have make up on? otherwise it's great lol i hate that the details always bug me :/
Rare yes. Impssible no. There are indeed siblings of different colours. Sometimes even twins can be different. But this is a Disney fantasy. They really wanted to cast talent from a variety of shapes sizes and colours. And considering the positive reactions the audience gave the cast. I say it was well worth it.
So far the person who recorded this should've stop putting the camera or phone down while clapping after each song they are done singing. It sort of distracting. He/she should just keep recording it. I know it's illegal to record live shows like on Broadway b/c of copy rights. But I thank this person who recorded this for people who can't afford tickets to see a Broadway show or who don't live in NY or where ever. If Broadway don't want people to record live shows than just release them on to dvd or stream them on to netflix.
to be honest theres not really any other way you could make it look like there swimmin. I was findin it a bit annoyin too. But it was really well done. I mean for the story taking place in the sea. That wee boy is so cute and the girl playing ariel is amazin.
I love the idea of rollerskates for swimming, but couldn't they have made the bottom of the dress water or somehting? then the tails would work, they are beautiful tails... love everything else. Thanks for the upload!
I performed as Ariel in the Little Mermaid Jr. (You can see my behind the scenes videos on my channel). And we used the Heely's, they werent that hard to use :)
Leonor Arriaga I know this is a super late response, but I just wanted to say that this came out in 2007 so you can’t really find one. It also had a relatively short run on broadway. It’s still a good musical tho
@Jfad yeah... A couple years ago when the show opened on Broadway Disney Channel did an interview backstage and the cast talked about how fun it was 2 heelie across the stage all day!
Not that I'm complaining about having the entirety of this particular musical on youtube or anything, but did you forget to pick up the camera after applauding or something?
@melinaemilymay That's a good idea, but the set is so colorful black tights would stick out. They're professionals and I'm sure they tried many different ideas for the mermaids. This was probably the best.
The St. Moby Dick Underwater Adoption Agency. Turn right when you see the dancing Coral, you can't miss it. If you hit Ursula's lair, you've gone too far.
Also, recording a live show is illegal. They could've gotten kicked out of the theater for the sake of sharing this with people who are unable to go to Broadway or in this case for people who don't live in Denver.
Note to the filmer (not the poster as I know you didn't film it). You point the camera at the people that are singing and dancing, not the floor. Thank you.
I'm just going to pretend that Merfolk genetics are different from human genetics, and that dark skin is a recessive trait. I know it's the first reveal of Ariel's costume, but I kind of wish they'd kept her tail below the "water." It makes it look like she's hovering above the surface.

Yes they are talented, but they’re supposed to be a biological family and they don’t look related.

Sierra is so adorable!!
I love Ariel and Flounder here!! They're like a little brother and his sister. ^^
She has such a beautiful voice!!
Ursula's outfit looks like something Lady Gaga would wear to the store!
The oyster/shucked joke was funny!
I'm going to be Ariel and rehearsals start this week! I'm so nervous but so excited.
Thank you for posting this! I really wanted to see it on Broadway, but they closed it before I ever got the chance.
So norm Lewis and Sierra are in the same broadway show twice crazy yet awsome
Two contrasting styles as well (Disney then more Classical songs with Phantom)
Sydney Wright yeah but it felt so fricken wrong, almost like incest, seeing her kiss him like that in phantom
This isn’t too uncommon (This response is SUPERRRRR late i know lol)
Dinglehopper XD I would like all forks to be called dinglehoppers from now on
Angelina Lim when I was a little girl I used to call a fork a dinglehopper and used to brush my hair with it like Ariel did lol 😂 😂
Thx for the upload. I actually tried cover her legs with my finger and surprisingly, it looks really good since the tail is on the right size and doesn't limp.
Im glad they made this song longer than in the movie. It's my favorite, next to sweet child and daddy's little angel
Sierra is so beautiful as Ariel and she sings so wonderful, I love this song. Sean is so handsome as Eric and he sings great too.
the one that plays Flounder is adorable!! :)
I know 😌
no he's not all it's just some kid
Sierra Munoz Shut it
As soon as I saw a big black woman as a mermaid, I knew that this show was going to be AMAZING!! I wish I could have seen it live myself
Those glass like wave set pieces are so amazing.
i LOVE flotsam and jetsum... even if i can't spell their names right... i wish they had gotten this much screentime in the movie!!!!! ... i also wish that ursula moved a little more onstage, but its probably due to her EPIC costume. so beggars can't be choosers. it's all still awesome!

i think they did a great job with costumes, I was up close to get to see them, I had orchestra seats.
I love Norm and Sierra. They're both so great.
@UbhikhosiBoKhoKho LOL, I really find it amazing that so many people can't put 2 + 2 together and figure that out. Whoever filmed this could have gotten in big trouble, so appreciate it. :)
Thankyou SO much for this!!!! I never got the chance to see it on Broadway and now I'll get to see it at all :D
Omg! I love Flotsam and Jetsam. They're so fun!
that's the only ones I like
Same
I got Ariel in my play!! OMG!!! (FANGIRLING)
ttpinkpinkAJ same!
Yeah, almost as weird as the human-sized seagull and the mermaids with legs.
They're just actors. It doesn't matter.
you gotta say that is one big fork xD
Yeah for something made by FUCKING DISNEY
ikr
ThAnk you so much for recording!!!
Sierra boggess makes a perfect Ariel😍😍😍😍😍😍😍🧜🏼♀️🧜🏼♀️🧜🏼♀️🧜🏼♀️🧜🏼♀️🧜🏼♀️🧜🏼♀️🧜🏼♀️
"Like an oyster, darlings, Mama knows when she's been shucked."
BEST LINE EVER XD
just amazing :)) bravoo!!!!

Paint 🎨, build, and decorate the set. Sew costumes 🧵, install lights ,sound , and run curtains for the show.
aww Flounder is so cute ^^

“...on your duff!”
“Duff?”
“Don’t ask”
🤣
Doesn't the gulls song remind you another song from disney's sequel of the little mermaid?
I got Ariel and my show is tomorrow

The man who plays King Triton played Inspector Javert in the Les Miserables 25th Anniversary concert.
It is weird, but when you're a child, it's the last thing on your mind.

entertainmentstarz1 he could of been trying not to get caught
Yes it is Christine! x) She was the first Christine I heard in Las Vegas at Phantom-Sierra Boggess is my favorite Christine!
she is so perfect for this role
I love that everyone has heelies. :D
to be honest theres not really any other way you could make it look like there swimmin. I was findin it a bit annoyin too. But it was really well done. I mean for the story taking place in the sea. That wee boy is so cute and the girl playing ariel is amazin.
Ah, gotta love Sierra
Note to self: Order my school's drama club to do this.
With me as Ariel. No wig for me! lol
oh dayum tha background scenes r so awesome!! haha
I love the idea of rollerskates for swimming, but couldn't they have made the bottom of the dress water or somehting? then the tails would work, they are beautiful tails... love everything else. Thanks for the upload!
Flounder is so cute!!! He's like a little kid! OMR!
omg i love the seagull with the glasses :)
HOLY MOTHER OF GOD! The guy who plays Triton is Norm Lewis!!! :O (He also plays Javert in Les Miserables for those who don't know.)
I love scuttle!! :))
I performed as Ariel in the Little Mermaid Jr. (You can see my behind the scenes videos on my channel). And we used the Heely's, they werent that hard to use :)
00:00 XDDDDD PFFFFFHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA HO HO HO HO HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAH
LOVING the Heelys XD
what does, pre-broadway mean ????
Before Broadway. This was done during the show's trial run in Denver.
Gee, I love hearing just the audio and seeing darkness. Almost like listening to the radio! -_-
your wierd
I was holding my official little mermaid dinglerhopper while watching this....my that sounds inappropriate......
Omg I'm going to now put a dinglehooper in my broadway shrine.
haha i like how triton just walks off his podium instead of gliding off like everyone else. TRITON BE RAGIN
@KaiFan4Ever one of the mersisters was actually an understudy for ursula at one point on broadway, cicily daniels, i believe her name was
Haha I love the song Human stuff!
I'm doing this play in the summer (we have auditions in 2 weeks I think) I'm trying out for Scuttle or Flounder or Flotsome or Jetsam
I wonder where the shark was, hahaha :D :P
the actors in the water wear heelies to make it look like they're swimming.
Does anyone know where i can watch this in hd?
Leonor Arriaga I know this is a super late response, but I just wanted to say that this came out in 2007 so you can’t really find one. It also had a relatively short run on broadway. It’s still a good musical tho
the kid who plays flounder is a lucky bastard! ugh sooo jealous!
Love it
They are wearing Heelys! So Cool!
Well... They say less is more... That or the budget ended with Ursula's costume XD
I bet they're so ugly to have such a contrast of how beautiful Ariel is compared to the others.
@Jfad yeah... A couple years ago when the show opened on Broadway Disney Channel did an interview backstage and the cast talked about how fun it was 2 heelie across the stage all day!
So....Triton is black and Ariel is white. Disney logic :P
Not that I'm complaining about having the entirety of this particular musical on youtube or anything, but did you forget to pick up the camera after applauding or something?
i saw serra as Christine at las Vegas it was amazing

You need to stop putting the camera down we can't see!!!!!😡
+Donata Bova-Ford They had to put the camera down to clap.
Also, recording a live show is illegal. They could've gotten kicked out of the theater for the sake of sharing this with people who are unable to go to Broadway or in this case for people who don't live in Denver.
He needed to make sure the director or who ever is in charge
Thank you
CHRISTINE!!!! AAAHHHH!
i love the sea! i cant understand why ariel likes land better?
Note to the filmer (not the poster as I know you didn't film it). You point the camera at the people that are singing and dancing, not the floor. Thank you.
WHERE did she pull that fork from?!
I'm just going to pretend that Merfolk genetics are different from human genetics, and that dark skin is a recessive trait.
I know it's the first reveal of Ariel's costume, but I kind of wish they'd kept her tail below the "water." It makes it look like she's hovering above the surface.
I got Adella in my play I recommend playing has a dumb person. I loved that part
Did you forget you were filming
you know they worked really hard to put this play on right?
If u think about it, Ariel became an actual princess becuz of Ursula...
Just let that sink into ur minds
the part whr she kisses the boy's forehead is soooooo cute
skittle...he reminds me of the guy who played voldemort in a very potter musical.
uhh, you can still be gracious in water ;)
belle scenografie, ma le sirene sembra che abbiamo più code e anche gli altri costumi per il mondo sottomarino, andavano curati di più secondo me
the people who own heelys must have made fortune off of this
All I keep thinking is why is Christine wearing a tail! Lol!
The first song that ariel sings slightly reminds me of Wicked
why's triton black??? ;x
Hypocrisy!
i understand the guy put the camera down to clap or whatever, but why did he have to wait forever to pick it back up?
hey! that's christine from phantom of the opera! wow!
