      Some really cool kits I've seen lately have been 30 Minute Miniatures (every single on looks cool and you can easily change pieces for different it like a make-your-own-mecha), Metal Robots has put some really incredible looking highly detailed metal kits and last I forgot the company that makes them but the OBSOLETE mechs are some of the coolest new designs I've seen in years (the models are from the UA-cam show OBSOLETE).

    Guys, this product is an enamel based paint. Unlike what the guy implies this not some "black ink". I don't want to be "this" guy but these type of paints are toxic and we should use some precautions when using them. Read the SDS (safety data sheet), Tamiya is providing for all its products free pdf copies.
    It is no coincidence that some of the listed solvents in this product have exposure limits in a closed room (well ventilated area is a must). It is also suggested to use protective gloves (minimum EN74 grade). Know what you are dealing with and take precautions. Use paints according to the SDS. Stay safe guys.

    Use over a satin enamel coat and any excess or accidents are easily cleared off with a q-tip and mineral spirits.

      Thats cool. I didn't show but a q-tip is a great option to keep things clean, I didn't bother with any undercoating and it worked perfectly 😁

    As a builder of both franchises since.. 2E, and Anime started being a 'thing' in the US... Honesly, I don't use this. I like Citadel's own Washes better. Thin 1:1 with acrylic medium and a drop of dish soap (maybe a few drops of water if it's not *quite* thin enough), and you've got your own 'custom' panel liner, in *any* of Citadel or Vallejo's shades! They behave nearly identically this way. *And*, being water based, clean up without any harsh chemicals like thinners, or lighter fluid (which is the most recommended for cleaning Tamiya's). And, 0 risk of solvents eating plastic.

    make sure you prime your model first. it makes the plastic very brittle if you dont.

    • @SimplyWarhammer
      @SimplyWarhammer  11 місяців тому

      I didn't know about it going brittle but I've always primed my models 1st as minimum 👍

    • @dust_bin_gaming7319
      @dust_bin_gaming7319 10 місяців тому

      This is mostly due to the kind of plastic Bandai uses in their kits (not all plastics are the same). Bandai's kits are also several times thinner than most of GW's kits.
      But I would experiment on spares first, anyways, just to be sure.
      Also it's better to *seal*, not prime. Gloss, preferably, as it will promote capillary action. Making application and clean up quicker. Primers tend to be flat, more often than not, and will be more prone to staining since they don't have a perfectly smooth surface.
