honestly this podcast is what needs to be heard by every single athlete, coach, enthusiast and fan all over the world and across all sports, like no one had a problem when Jimi Hendrix was high as fuck off of marijuana or cocaine or alcohol. But his songs were awesome so we turn our heads. This podcast is in my top 3 of all time favourites. Good works lads.

Regarding supplements, there are many studies out there showing that 20 to 30% of over-the-counter supplements are contaminated with banned substances. Just something to think about if you are competing in tested sport.

    Couple comments:
Testosterone is an anabolic steroid, it belongs to the class of molecules called steroids, it has anabolic properties, ergo anabolic steroid. Estrogen or vitamin D3 for example are not anabolic steroids, they are steroids, but they do not elicit an anabolic response.
2nd: Metabolites are not 'steroids that have been chopped up'. In general, the human body just starts throwing polar functional groups at an unknown molecule to allow it to be filtered out by the kidneys or liver (very rough explanation but hey), it does this most often via oxidation reactions, as these introduce carbonyl groups or hydroxy groups into the molecule which are polar. For someone who seems at times a little bit arrogant of how smart he is, this guy can definitely start brushing up on his org chem nomenclature and ADMET.

Via dictation it technically is not, this is important for medical and legal reasons. A steroid must be a synthetic derivative of testosterone hence why testosterone by itself can not be a steroid

Testosterone is a little bit orally active, just much less than its activity by injection. You can do medical TRT with half a gram of testosterone per day, taken orally. So if your daughter drank a whole bottle of testosterone, that'd be a few days worth of medical TRT, and there's a fair chance she'd feel it.

So the idea that Tokyo Olympics would have a large number of records broken, that didn't seem to pan out. 22 world records compared to 27 at Rio. 124 Olympic records compared to 91 the previous Olympics, but about 50 of them were in weightlifting thanks to the category changes. This is just a surface counting of wiki stats so I'm sure there's plenty more context and detail to look at tbf

This is the second podcast I've heard reference an elite crossfit athlete that they claim was using, had another person piss in the cup for him and he was using too, and supposedly it got covered up. I searched for a while online with no luck, please provide link if you have it.
I'm not saying crossfit athletes don't dope, what I'm saying is alot of people think that most of them are doping without question and it's being covered up, but no one shows tangible evidence of it.
They get tested at competitions and randomly year-round, they literally have a list of those that failed drug tests and are banned for so many years.
If it's true then it's true, but I'm not seeing/ finding the evidence.

It would be bad for CrossFit HQ to have Froning pop hot or any of the other top dawg athletes. HQ controls the drug tests and its not too stringent. Search youtube for the podcast or interview with Adrain Mundwiler where he talks about getting tested. He said they called him and gave him 24 hours notice before showing up. Huge advantage if someone is doping.

Mate, look up the most recent research. Go and check some UA-cam Channels who delve into the subject matter.
As individuals, we have varying androgen sensitivity in various muscle groups, hence why we have strong and week body parts. There is also other more complicated components to add to the mix, like muscle nuclei and its interaction.
If the only pre requisite of genetic potential was body hair, then finding the next olympian would be an easy job indeed.
Unfortunately for the ex Eastern bloc countries and indeed China now, its a bit more of a complicated process.

This guy was one of the more pessimistic people I have ever heard speak. I think it is impossible to argue that either drug control or 100% legalization is in the best interest of the athlete's health. There are moral issues with both legalization and drug control. I think that successful drug control is the best attempt at creating a fair playing ground and is much more in line with what we would want sports to represent as a society.

    • @JohnWL
      @JohnWL 3 роки тому +8

@@jacobacostamasterscribe2200 I am not sure what you mean by "control thinking". Health isn't a choice. Risk assessment and deciding on what to put in your body is a choice though. The lines of personal choice become very blurry depending on the power dynamic of who is offering this "choice" to take drugs. Doesn't take too much imagination to think of circumstances where young athletes could be taken advantage of because they have no perception/knowledge of the risk. This is probably already happening in plenty of state run programs. No need to exacerbate the issue by eliminating all rules. I also literally said there are moral issues with allowing all or no drugs. It's choosing the lesser of two evils, chief.
