You are so smart! I'm a 77 yr old Grandmother that's trying very hard to learn. I will come back tomorrow after a short rest. Young Man, thank you VERY much
Thank you for the tutorial. I'm a newly "work at home" teacher due to the COVID19 closure of our schools. I'm a speech therapist and need to connect with families often. This was sooo helpful. Thanks again!!
Thanks so much for the information. This might be the least stressful thing I've done today. Yep, old teacher trying to learn the new tricks for e-learning and contacting students.
@@peggy.lifeafterabuse Thanks for the info. I was about to ask if the service was available in Canada. I'm planning to save my Canadian phone number while I move to Europe for the next couple months
I can confirm that Google Voice _does not_ use cellular minutes, at least from my carrier. Google Voice is essentially a VoIP forwarding service - the call is carried through your device's data connection. Have been using it exclusively for 8 years with a monthly carrier plan with only 100 voice minutes, so I pay attention to this.
Sometimes I lose my phone and I don't like asking people to call my phone for me to find it and then learning of my number in the process. ...so now Im using this and it is really convenient.
If you have Google voice on your cellphone and your cellphone is connected to your car radio it can be a pain if you select ask each time which phone number to use for an outgoing call. You have to make that selection on your phone and if it's not easy to get to the call will not get made. That is for outgoing calls only. You can set it to manual calls only though if you want to use the Google Voice from your cellphone.
thank you very much I appreciate your help I may still need to ask you some questions I'm not done completely but I know you did a lot of work for me I do appreciate it
very good tutorial, I live in an area where I cannot get cell phone coverage. I always have to drive to where I can pick up a signal. Will this work if I am home and do not have a cell signal?
Yes you can - but each recipient will have the number of every other person on the message. I have never been able to find a way to individualize them without sending the message individually. They will only have the number and not the name, unless the number belongs to a contact in that student's contact list. Hope this helps!
Forgot to mention - it is similar to the way you add multiple email addresses to an email. It will automatically take you to the text section after you enter the first number but you can go back up to the phone number and continue to add more numbers.
Thank you so much for the good information about Google Voice. From what I understand you saying I would have to use my cell phone to talk live with another person. I can't use the computer to talk thru my microphone? I was hoping I could talk to the other caller without using my phone. Is there any way you can do this, on a Chromebook. Is there another app that can do this?
I like the way you display your tutorial, very simple to understand and clear to catch, if you don't mind me asking do you know how to use a text plus app to get a foreign number for easy verification in any app including WhatsApp? Thanks will be expecting your feed back
If you have disconnected cell phone and have magic jack you can still get Google voice to work on that disconnected cell phone by first downloading the magicJack app
I'm looking to find out if calls coming in from Google Voice to my business cell phone (that I already use for a different Plumbing Company business) can have a different ring tone. I may be able to select a specific ringtone from my Android Samsung cellular device if it carries the Google Voice number through as the caller. If it shows the incoming calls specific number it may not work. I'd like to carry the one cell phone and answer it with either Business name depending on the source it originated from.
Nice intro. Next it would be nice to know how the international calls work - when traveling abroad etc. And how the "Prefer WiFi and Data" setting works - what "prefer" entails $-wise?
Wonderful explanation. I have a question and hope you can answer it. So I get all the information you have described, but can someone still call my original phone number and it ring directly to me?
Hi, thanks for the informative video. I have done the steps however I cannot make or receive a call on my PC. Every time I dial a number it hangs up without even ringing, and if I pick a name from my contacts, the phone icon is not green color so it doesn't make a call. Please, let me know what the issue is. Thank you so much.
when i set up my google voice i linked my number and it asked me to get a google voice number when i already did and i had to pick a different number but when i put in my phone number again it said my number can not be linked when it was already linked, i dont know whats happening
thanks for the tutorial. I try to find solution for long term travel aboard (a year). how I have to deal with my google authenticator with i-phone that I will add local sim card and stop pay monthly plan of US phone# until I come back to US again.
Only problem is when my cell phone rings, it doesn't tell me if the caller dialed my number or my Google Voice number. There is a work around in the Legacy Google Voice but they say they are phasing that out. This is a major failing on Google's part. I want to know if the caller is calling for me personally--my cell phone number--or a business call on Google Voice before I answer.
Great video. I was wondering do you know if it is possible to make a three way call on Google voice? Let's say I call you and we need to call someone else and bring them in our conversation, what is the steps to do this? If possible.
I have a personal gvoice account Do not want to use head phones I do not have a cell phone If u can 1 pick out any phone on amazon I can use to plug into my desktop computer Desktop, windows 10, Chrome in So after I plug a google compatiable voice phone into a usb port 2 Will I be able to use it with google voice or need to set it up? 3 After a compatible phone is plugged in, if other steps must be taken, to you have links to them Thanks Buddy n Pups
I'd like to know if I setup and Google Voice account for my business use, and I leave that place of business, can I transfer the phone number to a different person so they can pickup where I left off. We would be using this for clients and I would like to know that the clients can still be taken care of with out changing the phone numbers if the employee (me) leaves.
Thank you, great tips. I am totally using this from my cellphone and did not see most of the features mentioned here. Also, I would like to know how I can I send one message to several different students
Hi! This is amazing! I have a question. I'm starting a non for profit community organization but I used my personal email to set up the google voice. Should I start all over or can I change the email?
Hi thanks for the explanation.... is Google voice for personal acct still active? I have a GV on my iPhone but cannot receive or make calls. When I receive calls made to me, I don't hear the ring but I do get their voice mail recording. I also cannot make a phone call via my laptop. What am I doing wrong?
Thank you for this tutorial. I signed up on my cell phone yesterday. But now that I'm trying to use this on my laptop (which was the main idea for me) , it keeps asking me to choose a number. It does not recognize that I have already signed up using the same email address. . Please help.
Newbie here. A few questions: 1. I'm considering cancelling my Verizon business phone account (way too expensive), but I'd like to keep my business numbers. Can I transfer my business numbers to a new Google Voice account, like when you switch carriers? 2. Can I still use my physical desk phones with Google Voice? Or alternatively, are there desk phones available for Google Voice users? Much appreciated if anyone can reply. Thanks, Newbie
While setting up Google Voice the system had us access LEGACYGoogle Voice. At some point do we have to upgrade from LEGACY and how? Additionally if I am just answering calls through the WEB on my computer do I have to download some sort of an app to my cellphone? Enjoyed the tutorial, thank you.
useful, but takes for granted that all your viewers live in usa, that is not the case by far, you could start with a warning, google voice is ONLY for those having access to a usa code telephone, or perhaps refer those to a tutorial on how to get a usa code telephone if you dont live in usa...
If I am using the app only on my phone, what happens when I don't have wifi connection and the data is turned off? Can I still make calls and receive incoming calls?
is it possible to create a voice greeting as "Hello thank you for calling to blabla company, i will connect you to our manager' and only after that greeting you get a call from your client?

All right all right.....it takes around 3 minutes to explain how google voice works. Thank you
You've got a very clear and pleasant style. Thanks!

Thanks so much for the information. This might be the least stressful thing I've done today. Yep, old teacher trying to learn the new tricks for e-learning and contacting students.
This is awesome. I am about to start an online course and this will allow my students to reach me if necessary. So cool!
As far as I can tell, this is only available in US. I'm in Canada and wasn't able to use it. :(

Oh this is going to be a life saver once I get into real estate... 🙏 I was contemplating the idea of buying a totally seperate phone...
I've been using Google voice for 10 years now and use it primarily to make Wi-Fi voiceover IP calls from my Android phone without using phone minutes
Glad I save this tutorial . Simple and with no fluff. Thanks
