Neat seeing how different blades perform on that motor! I couldn’t help but laugh when the motor brace bent in when you tugged on the metal blade. That’s the first time I’ve ever seen a box fan motor brace bend with such ease, that must be some really cheap, low gauge metal!
I've done that with the old models, but I've found the new ones are too thin. The flimsy struts just bend and the blade hits the table, still attached to the shaft.
Are the bearings that sensitive to detergent? One or two drops can cause the gumming up to happen much sooner? Fun video i should try something similar on a rainy day
@@JordanU thanks Jordan. I recently got an Eskimo 12 inch box fan (McGraw Edison rebrand) and I oiled it with 30w non detergent and it works well. However I can’t remove the wicks or the bushings as the cups are riveted in. My only concern is the motor is very very hot after running on high for a short period of time (10-15min) I was thinking the bearings were getting super hot but they’re well oiled and spin very freely. Could the motor just be on its way out (drawing too many amps?) or perhaps this motor runs hot by design and I shouldn’t worry. Great channel!!
Or at least a bendable material or so/maybe something like that. I’m not sure why I do or so/maybe something like that or stuff like that...but it’s like I have an uncomfortable feeling or so if I don’t to it or so
But I can’t really add any more or less pitch or so because it might not fit and or it’s not metal. Well. Steve if I had some heat or so to make it a puffer or smaller pitch??? But I think it’s maybe aligned or so and don’t or I guess maybe rather wouldn’t want to mess it up or break it
Try to see where it’s hitting and start from there...that’s how I sometimes get mine bale fed and or look at the blade from a maybe a vantage point or so and or not meaning just using my wits but looking at it or I guess maybe the blade rather really closely or so
Had I guess maybe either typed or almost typed and as I was found some corrections or so it fckin/fcking or so went away😤😤😤 🤬but anyway I was wondering wheee you got that from or if they larger sizes than that??? Because I need 1/one for my dads old box fan from his work. I think it’s maybe an newer modern model or so/something like that??? But when we brought it home last week...ahh/ugh. Not last week but some time last year or so, I think maybe for either spring break or maybe for our family beach trip or so??? Yeah I think that was it, but anyway I had it on our front porch from being in side or so and when I would I guess maybe carry it around or so the food or maybe feet??? No I think maybe just foot or so/maybe something like that? But anyway it already had a crack or I guess maybe small reach or so on the circle part thst holds the blades And it kept calling off (meaning the foot and I didn’t know)...but anyway it fell off and I didn’t know it and maybe after a few times or so the fan blew itself over and 1/and or one of the bosses broke off when it was running or so like the centrifugal force was already putting I guess maybe some pressure into it or so/maybe something like that, and the fall was just too much or so. But I have a 3 bladed model air plane propeller on it or so but kinda want either a bigger propeller? And or the same fan blade that originally came with it...(I guess I could’ve said a replacement or so, and or a blade like that or in that style or bigger. Oh yeah and or a metal blade that will be able to be spun by the motor or so
i also saw someone else do this ua-cam.com/video/ArtsEzXYuu8/v-deo.html Edit, i also suggest you put a temporary Dayton blade on a modern Lasko box fan if you are servicing one and the blade's damaged beyond repair.

The whole frame on this thing is absurdly flimsy. These really are made with as little material as physically possible.
It's probably thin aluminum alloy...
Most likely.
you did the same thing I did when I was a kid and once I took a nv 32 fan and put it in a 40cm nv 16 fan and it worked really well
OK
Fun fact.. if you put the fan face down, then press down on the hub from behind, the blade will come off much more easily.
I've done that with the old models, but I've found the new ones are too thin. The flimsy struts just bend and the blade hits the table, still attached to the shaft.
Blade swapping is one of my favorite things to do with fans, nice variety, great video.
oh yeah
does anyone know where I can buy a replacement plastic blade for lasko 20" box fan it has an arbor with the flat side on it.
I do not believe Lasko sells replacement blades.
I cant believe the back of the fan caved in but at the same time I am also not surprised
I can, what a flimsy piece of junk.
correct it is terrible same with the comfort zone i have its the same fan lol and the blade is out of balanced .. good video i enjoyed it
Unfortunately these fans just aren't made right anymore.
@@JordanU nope that's true its just china freak show made lol
but hopefully the one i just got home will last it should because they both have oil ports the comfort zone and Home version of the aero speed
Ha! This is so me as a kid. I was always modifying fans to get more wind from them.
Thanks for letting me know.
If they just made a fan with that smaller plastic or metal blade, they’d actually have a decent fan.
The motor is still a piece of junk.

Yes, non-detergent oil must be used.

@@grandtheftauto1233 If it's a shaded pole motor, very high operating temperatures are pretty normal.
@@JordanU thanks Jordan I believe it is. It draws the correct amps so I believe it’s good. Appreciate ya
Not the stock blade, but the first blade swap looks to be a exhaust fan if the lasko box frame was smaller.
OK
I wish that made 20” blades like that and larger
OK
What is this propeller off of and where can I buy one from? 6:12
I'm not sure.
It's off of the Lasko humidifier I believe Lasko makes parts for it idk
3:10 ultimate high velocity fan
Not really...
If you want high-quality fans, then you're better off buying vintage fans because they are made of strong materials.
No kidding...
getting ready to throw out my areospeed 3X00 or 8X00, blade broke. Can you provide a link to blade replacement, or do i just throw it out?
I don't know if the blades are sold separately.
What did that metal blade come of of
I'm not sure.
So where’d you get the plastic 1/one from
1/one?
Same with my propeller too

3733 fuse plugs or any lasko fuse plug that isnt replaceable is down right outrageous, i dont know why they dit that but it is abysmal effort
Sorry for all the questions or I guess maybe commenting rather
OK
Yeah because you bent it kinda when you were trying to get it off the motor
OK then
Keep the motor. Rest seems like junk.
The struts securing the motor are pitiful.
what blade is the grey blade?
I don't know what it's from.
@@JordanU it’s probably from a cheap likewise fan
@@FC70YT I don't think it was from a cheap fan.
@@JordanU then what else do you think it’s out of?
@@FC70YT Something of decent quality.
I like it
What did you like about it?
OK
Put a jet turbine style blade on it. If you have one...
I do not have one.
@@JordanU
Would of been cool though.
@@MinecraftPro97k A squirrel cage blower would be interesting too
try a deeper pitch blade
It won't handle a deeper pitched blade.
