Most countries are already like that where you have separate parallel communities so don't understand what you're on about. Also as a white European you have to ask yourself why people of color tend to have this mentality that they're not of the nation they were born and raised in, much of it has to do with not being fully accepted so good luck getting people to then identity with the nation.

On another note, a lot of these women say that identify with their African side, while they are wearing WHITE EUROPEAN weaves. ????. I don't understand when the first thing people will likely see about you is your hair. smh.....
Can people not do hairstyles or ??? Even in Africa people wear weaves so what’s your point ??? Weave doesn’t over power skin, culture & character. These overly righteous ‘I’m more black than you’ people need to take a seat, just because you’re wearing natural hair it doesn’t mean someone can’t wear weave. You see one video of these people... do u know how often they wear weave ? If it’s their first time ? If they wear their natural hair most times ? If they’re wearing a wig because of a medical condition ? Stop forcing opinions on what makes people black enough on everyone. Think I need to post this comment on its own too since people seem to have this view too often.
I don't get the hateful comments. I identify more with my Nigerian side as I was born and lived most of my life in Nigeria. For me to say I identify more with my British side is a big fat lie, even though my dad is English! As for those that were born and grew up in the UK but find themselves identifying more with their African side, it's not abnormal or disrespectful to the country their parents moved to and raised them in, as some have suggested. If they had white adoptive parents I'm pretty sure they would grow up to identify more with the culture and lifestyle of their white adoptive parents. You can't knock someone's life experiences and choices when you have no idea how they may have lived, or even want to understand how they may have lived. Imagine coming from a typical African home, and living like an African, coming on camera to say you identify more with your British side, lol. You will appear silly to all the people that know you better.Stay real!
MsDee Kay It may not be abnormal, but it is absolutely disrespectful to not identify with the country your parents moved to. I'm American, but my parents are from Mexico. To call myself Mexican after all that this country did for me and my family would be an absolute slap in the face to it and to its people.

It's so crazy how African English citizens are more in tune with their African heritage than African Americans , African English citizens know where their culture comes from vs African Americans we do not know where we specifically come from all we know is that we came from africa or a colored country .Europeans have tainted the African American blood line
Cedric Palmer You made no contradicting point whatsoever with the exception of your own ignorance. The person actually made a good point about differences in cultural perspectives across Disaporans living in two different countries. Yes, it is generalized, however that does not take away from the verity of her reflection.
It's because many people in this video were either born in Africa or had parents born where most African Americans are 6 or more generations removed from any African relatives.
Amy L , hey there, this person did not need to respond the way you want. The video is as simple as simple can be. If you listened to the people in the video, you would understand. If you know the history of America, history of Black America you should understand. People should not have to explain something to you, as if you are two years old. Have a Great New Year 🎈 Cheers🦋
To be honest, African-Americans don't know where they are coming from, the longest they can trace back their ancestors is probably a plantation in the south US, you can't expect them to relate to Africa as much as Black British do, knowing that most of them still have relatives living in different African countries too. You cannot compare them.
I identify myself as British, because I was born and raised in the UK, my parents are from Jamaica and met each other in London. In Jamaica I am identified as a foreigner, I don't have the accent of a Jamaican and have never lived there, so that makes me British.
@cyberangel We didn’t ‘steal’ anything, we progressed as a culture naturally through turmoil and conflict like every other strong civilisation today as China and India also had to. I completely understand and sympathise with your unrest that stems from the shattered identity, largely due to only finding yourself in foreign lands by disgustingly unnatural means E.G. Transatlantic slave-trade and Windrush which were both nothing more than abusing a vulnerable people like a cheap commodity. Surely you, like me, would like nothing more than the African people to unite and strive together independently of the European and Middle Eastern people, and finally build the authentic African paradise you must surely be yearning for.
If for any reason any one of the people featured, let's say, travelled to the US and got entangled with the police and ended up in jail or shot (not killed), which government would you contact to intervene on your behalf?
Being from the US. I'd imagine that individuals in such situation would contact the government for which Passport they have. All interviewed have African Parents and I'm sure they qualify for an African Passport. However, I'm sure all interviewed don't actually hold 2 Passports. I'm US Black American. Many US Black Americans are traveling more. Some have acquired an African Passport, due to DNA results, NOT because of having African Parents, African Grandparents etc. I'm 100% sure that if Black Americans found themselves in trouble in a Country outside the US, they'll contact the US Embassy vs the Embassy for which African Passport they have. I guess where one spends the most time. Not such much of what Heritage/Culture one feels.
This dam question was simple and yet half of the comments mad it hard as hell. So reworded” do your identity with your culture or heritage you originally are from or the culture or heritage you grew up in? See simple🤦🏾♀️
I wonder if the brits during the imperial era,who had children born in Asia or Africa,I wonder if their children considered themselves to be british or from those countries wich they where born?
Mo B Yeah,. And what of Indian woman's hair ? what kind of internalised racism is that . 90% of black women look bad with straight hair ,can work but very rarely.
Amazing that so many people flock to our country to live amongst the most tolerant indigenous people who have such a successful country and economy. We should be proud that they choose to leave their country for something better that such a successful country can offer them and give them a better life.
@cyberangel Well yeah slavery helped every nation in earth. Should the Egyptians have all their credit of their history go the Jews because they were their slaves? The Greeks can’t be credited for things like Phonecia or Rome because they were also slaves yet Roman culture prospered before this and after. This narrative that whatever nation has to used slavery has to secede its history is dumb.
@@putainclasse1986 Not every group or civilization was built on slavery. Although slavery existed in Ancient Egypt, it wasn’t as pervasive as people think. They mostly enslaved their prisoners of war. It’s most likely they were Hyksos they defeated. story was exaggerated. The Jews weren’t even Jews back then then. The were just Hebrews. Jew came from Judah long after the Kingdom of Israel split in two. 2. Phoenicia existed long before Greece. Phoenicians were maritime traders and merchants. 3. Greeks didn’t have a proper alphabet before the Phoenicians introduced it. It was just Linear B. By the time the militaristic Romans came along, Phoenicia as an independent entity was long gone.
@@Daron7181 "It wasn't a pervasive as people think" So they're still was slavery and the colony and ifastructure was still benefiting from it? Every civilization benefitted from slavery at one point, because it was just the beginning of economic ideologoly.
Funny how those who probably came to Britain as adults(judging from accents - 3:40) were in so much of a hurry to cling to the British side when compared to those who were actually born and bred here. #Wanabees loool Superb video, superb presenting.. (y)
awadeez probably because the older generation know that it’s preferable to be British, the youngsters see it as exotic to be African as they have less actual knowledge of what it’s like
I find it amazing how Black British people connect with their African Roots . You ask me or the average black American we don't know much about Africa . We would claim American so fast that its a damn shame . We're not taught these things and our Generations before us have been broken and disconnected from Africa since slavery .
That's because the majority of the Black British are 1st or 2nd Generation British. It doesn't go any further than that. US Black Americans (the majority) are over 400+years removed from Africa. Even through DNA tests, US Black Americans' ancestry is very mixed-up. Whereas Black British DNA is pretty much all from Africa. Unless the person has 1 White British Parent and 1 Black African Parent (that migrated from Africa). Even the DNA is very straightforward, in those cases. My Ancestors made sure the stories were passed down, as much as they could. However, there was a lot of mixing with Whites (forcefully). So our bloodline is definitely NOT "pure" like the Black British.
Damn you uneducated 😂 they are not really black British they are just Africans who came to Europe or born in Europe from African parents. It's not like they were forced to Europe in 1600s and somehow held onto their Africaness. No they are literally Africans not slave descendants like black Americans
Makes me chuckle watching these videos lol you claim to your African culture more than your British culture yet you stand there using our language wear our clothes eat our food and use our technology hahaha irony is bliss.......
I admire African Americans because Africa is not the defining factor in their identity. Tribal division has no place in their culture. There is a commonality shared by Black Americans throughout the entire United States because of "blackness."
I'm American Black. I'm here to know how black people from America are treated. I watch British show here at home. I love the country side. I wonder how I would be treated if I came for a visit. I wish some one here could be honest and tell me how things really are there in the UK for black people.
How do you categorize the Carribeans of African origin in UK? "You can't be British enough to be English" One is British- Nigerian or British-Japanese or British or American.
Those guys are suffering of problems of ID. The only true reason they say African its their skin..its hard when you born in british and people still ask you where you are from just because of your skin
of course they ask that its natural to ask that. I am of european decent but born in africa my family owns land there and when i travel back people still ask me where i am from lol. 90% of bristish people are white.
emo 237 Um, NO! We were raised in our unique respective cultures, which makes us culturally and ethnically distinct from the 'native' population. I was raised a Jamaican family, and I do not consider myself to be _British_ British.
If you don't feel British, you don't belong in Britain. You can be African, too - after all, we all came from Africa - but if you don't feel British, get back on the boat, and try living in Africa, you wouldn't survive a day.
That makes no sense. Millions of British live in other countries I guess they don't belong in Spain and all those other countries then because they don't feel Spanish or Emerati or whatever foreign country they live and work in. No way you think you make sense even I mean I know white supremacists are dumb but come on
They are AFRICAN : ETHNICITY but only British by nationality. Just like White are EUROPEAN : ETHNICITY and their nationality with the country where they are born.
I'm a Cymro (Welshman) and speak Cymraeg (Welsh) first language, I'd never identify that I was British ever. Cymru (Wales) was the first country to be colonised and enslaved by the English, they are up to their neck in it. Fight English rule never be a slave to them!

If they are all so African why don't they live in Africa? Why weren't they asked to explain why they don't want to experience the life that their African culture they love so much provides (or should I say, doesn't provide)? Aren't they all guilty of wanting to have their cake and eat it too? They are just mean spirited hypocrites, all of them.
I agree this is so disrespectful to the country that raised them. Country first. If you are born and raised in the UK than you are British and should be proud of it
I'm sorry what? No that's not true at all. I'm Brazilian-Jamaican while I am "black" I have nothing im common a with africans and don't understand why you don't develop you countries better? Why are you don't you push for development? Brasil is becoming one of the most propsperous countries in the world, In the next 20 or so years Brasil will be up there in top 3 with India and America and China yet all the African nations will be in the bottom.
if they say they are British you will called them delusional if they claim they are African you call them hypocrite. There is no win situation for them is there ??
That's not true and you don't HAVE to be proud of anything...we're not fuckin North Korea! None of them said they hate Britain, they just identify with being African, which I get! If you moved to France, say as a kid, yes you'd love France but still see yourself as British and try and hold on to that! It works vice versa, if any of the people being interviewed went back to Africa, they'd probably miss Britain.
Us so-called Negroes scattered abroad the four corners of the world aren't African,British,American, South American,Canadian, Caribbean etc,we are Israelites case closed. We suffer from a lack of knowledge and identity thanks much in part to slavery and the whitemans school teachings.Who better to know us than are enemies? Are enemies have conspired to keep us in the dark about who we really are.Its true that are people came out of Africa, but that is only in part to are people being chased out of Israel by are enemies and dwelling into regions amongst other enemies. Those enemies are the tribes of the Biblical Hamites who are a dark nation of people but are different from the so-called Negroes who are Shemetic. The Zondervan Bible Dictionary enlightens us more about this when we research Ham.These Hametic people grew weary of the Israelites, the so-called Negroes in their lands and conspired with the Arabs and the so-called whiteman to round us up and have us as slaves to build the Westernly New World. When we so-called Negroes say that we are African this and that we are ignorantly claiming that we are subjects of Rome, and not the sons and daughters of Jacob, which is a Slap in the Face of Our Forefathers.Africa got it's name from Roman general Leo Scipio Africanus who conquered the continent and named it after himself.Only ignorant Negroes think of themselves as Africans. When I was a young boy I never thought of myself as African, because I simply couldn't relate my looks or my spirit with these pagan people. As the Bible states the so-called Negroes are scattered abroad so allot of are people that weren't of the captivity are living on the continent of Africa. According to the scriptures Judah one of the 12 tribes of Israel was the only tribe that went into slavery to the New World in 1619.Get out of these foolish Religions and Repent my people and come back into the arms of the Lord Almighty.
In Belgium everyone I know that have an other origin don't identify as Belgian, even if they were born and live there. So if this question was asked in my school 98% would say their origins and I would too.
It's a dumb question: "british" refers to the original people of the roman Britannia, so no one, unless directl related to those ancient people, can be called so. I guess you are pointing out if black people feel to belong to the United Kingdom or not, though they aren't even africans, 'cause they are born in the UK. The same way, only the natives (red people) can be called americans; the rest are just US citizens with european descent and are even invaders.
Mo B anyway, technically, whoever is not related to the original people of Britannia is just a citizen of the UK, and nothing else, same way that no brit descent can be called american but just US citizen.

On another note, a lot of these women say that identify with their African side, while they are wearing WHITE EUROPEAN weaves. ????. The Silver Crown - Natural Grey Hair 😂😂😂😂😂
The Silver Crown - Natural Grey Hair no the 1st thing ppl see abt us is skin. Weave or no weave they still see african /black
Weaves are not European 😒

It’s interesting to see the difference when someone who isn’t natively British asks, because when they ask it’s “youuu racist, I was born here”
I don't get the hateful comments.

Have a Great New Year 🎈

There is no such thing as African English. We say Black British.
To be honest, African-Americans don't know where they are coming from, the longest they can trace back their ancestors is probably a plantation in the south US, you can't expect them to relate to Africa as much as Black British do, knowing that most of them still have relatives living in different African countries too. You cannot compare them.

Typical self hating oreo Jamaican

@cyberangel That was the most ignorant thing I’ve seen about British history
@cyberangel Well yeah slavery helped every nation in earth. Should the Egyptians have all their credit of their history go the Jews because they were their slaves?
The Greeks can’t be credited for things like Phonecia or Rome because they were also slaves yet Roman culture prospered before this and after.
This narrative that whatever nation has to used slavery has to secede its history is dumb.
@@putainclasse1986
Not every group or civilization was built on slavery.

Exactly! The Africans who love and are proud to be be African live on the continent.
Us so-called Negroes scattered abroad the four corners of the world aren't African,British,American, South American,Canadian,
Caribbean etc,we are Israelites case closed.
