- GUTTERDOGS Oxalic acid on rust. I took a very old rust stained bolt and put it in some oxalic acid for almost 2 days.A 3rd day in the oxalic acid might have taken off all of the rust stains? It is recommended to wear proper PPE. here are the results.

So what I heard was true. Oxalate was used predominantly as a cleaning agent. Crazy that the stuff is high to moderate in a chunk of plant foods... Guess the plants don't like to be eaten by predators.
What ratio did you use to let sit for 48 hours?
It's really good stuff.
He said they were going to check back tomorrow morning since when has morning ever took 48 hours?? Lmao
Well, looka what happened. Removes rust from fingers, too.
Look at that, there you go...done
Is this liquid or powder?
i have it as powder
Doesn't that acid actually not superficially burn you but absorb through the skin?.........
..........?
That's hydrofluoric acid, pretty sure.
@@Gutterdogs They both absorb through the skin as a hazard but also can burn, advisable to wear gloves.
@@91f thank you. I am sure that you will agree that lemon juice is an acid also. It is stronger than oxilic acid on the PH scale. Still best to wear gloves, I'm sure.
@@Gutterdogs the reason for gloves and oxalic acid actually doesn't have much to do with burns but it reacts with calcium in your body to make calcium oxalate. It usually precipitates out in your kidneys forming kidney stones. This is actually what kidney stones are normally made of so it just encourages a painful experience. It's definitely a great rust removal technique and heating the solution slightly helps remove rust.
Hi Mario. I've used that acid on many occasions. I think that if you have skin contact for a prolonged period then it would. I just washed my hands after coming into contact with it and have had no problems. It is brilliant stuff. I use it for bleaching faded timber.
Just loook at that
