In Los Angeles since whenever, '82 or some such, but saw them live locally in about '15. Brits for sure but they care about our crappy town enough to come out and play live. No place for great men but we work at it. It's a world issue and we aren't backing off about it yet.
The Chilis have always been very clear that this band was a big inspiration to them, that's why they got the band's guitar player Andy Gill to produce their first album back in 1984 and Flea wrote the liner notes for the reissued version of the Entertainment album saying how much he liked them.
Have you checked out Dan Boeckner? He's definitely a Marxist and is probably my favorite songwriter ever (not the best, just a personal favorite). I think he also does a political podcast.
