Proto up here dropping a podcast at midnight, perfect for my 3rd shift listening
A new episode
Awesome episode. These two were probably my favourite toylines of the 90s. They were my go-to Batman figures. Loved how versatile and pacjed with play features they were. Great to hear Aaron's insights.
Fantastic show! You guys really need to find that picture of Mr. Archer in the Joker cosplay!
I love how you guys hit every key moment during 90s Batman, it was such a wild ride
The McDonald's Batman and Robin glass mugs were awesome! I wish more fast food promotions were like this.
(Added) I'm hoping that there's a podcast about Mattel's Total Justice line. Despite the lack of articulation that we have today, I loved this toy line because it was like a rebirth of the Super Powers line. Without this toy line, we would never have had the evil Justice League from Grant Morrison's JLA run.
I remember all of my friends had them =P
I think I still have have all 4 of the mcdonald's batman returns vehicles.
It blows my mind that Aaron Archer designed the snow globe in Batman and Robin.
I love this podcast and I love history keep it up you guys are killing it 💯
That Talking Riddler was by far one of my favorite figures as a kid.
I own the entire Kenner 97 B&R line, so excited to find this and to find out who worked on that line. 😁
This has been a fascinating episode! Thank you for peeling back the story behind two of my favorite Batman lines - Forever/Batman&Robin. Those toys were the first time I was playing a role in toy purchase decisions with the higher ups (parents 😂) Loved the Forever Bat Cave playset.
woo more video!
Great episode. Just ordered Lightwing Batman on eBay because of this, to have a piece of Aaron Archer and Hampton Woodhouse toy history for inspiration. Love this show Aaron and Daniel - good stuff.
Man, I think I used to have that chromed Batman vs Bane two-pack! That brings back memories!
Guys, Thank you both for an awesome segment. You just got a new subscriber. does Aaron has concept art that hasn't been released?. I know we all would like to see some cool stuff. Especially the Patrick Stewart mr freeze.
My Batman Ninjas Batmobile arrived today, I 100% blame this podcast as I didn't know it existed two weeks ago. Thanks I guess.
I'm sorry ^_^
It is Glorious... Dont let anyone tell you different
Ooooh I've been waiting for this !!!
There’s a box set of the complete animated series on Blu-ray that also includes mask of the phantasm and subzero
23:00 funny thing about that is that in the prototype package for the phantasm she's actually wearing the mask,so at some point before they released the figures someone made the poor decision of placing her in the package without the mask.
Funny how the Lightwing Batman figure's wings look kind of TM2 Megatron's wings. Hmm. I wonder if there was a little inspiration there or something.
the wings were based on the Batwing design from batman forever
my mom constantly was chasing that batman contest way back in the day, never won it but she got several participation things i do believe (i was only 4 at the time hah) thanks for sharing some insight to these otherwise mysterious topics love hearing this kind of stuff
I liked where Joel was going. But miss the mark by a bit.
It needed a bit more polish.
From what I recall there was no time for anything to be done the way all involved would have preferred.
Could the mask of Val Kilmer came from Widow?
Talking Riddler's voice is in fact Jim Carrey
So I gotta ask, why was there no Claw Island playset like the giant bat cave playset?
Also, how does one get a job in the toy industry?
Ps:
I love the forever toyline!
Sweet mother of God I just found this channel. Make a 100 hours of podcasts about Batman toys, I'll listen to every single one. Thank you for your legendary service, Aaron. 🙌🦇
Can Aaron explain why Skyboard Robin's vehicle - when assembled - looks like a phallus?
Oddly enough, the Target Exclusive Transforming Bruce Wayne/Batman looks more like Val Kilmer than the regular version. Well... At least the hair is the right color. 🦇
