You spend hours in a bunker underground trying to escape from monsters after your flesh, with the only reminder of the outside world being muffled explosions dozens of feet above, and then suddenly your break the surface only to be shot at, reminding you "oh yeah I'm still at war" eventually wondering if getting out is better than staying in. Right? I loved it too. Watching the video I was like "THAT GAP IS BIG ENOUGH TO GET THROUGH, screw the barbed wire, it won't do worse than that monster can." and right after that thought the bullet just barely missed Mark and we were reminded of the war.
Mark, just so you know. The reason the monster opened the cabinet door you were hiding in is because you sprinted for it. The monster's AI checks places it heard noise come from, and since you were making a full dash for the cabinet, it assumed you hid inside it because of the noise you were making when you ran. When going to hide somewhere, stop sprinting when you get relatively close to the hiding spot, and make sure you're not visible from where the monster patrols. If a light is shining by a bed for instance, it will be able to see you underneath the bed.
Well what’s also funny is that he even makes noise while the monster is around and also leaves blood trails by trying to out run the rats 😂 like cranking his flashlight while the monster is there, probably without hiding as well

its a scripted event so the monster always walks in when you grab the key, hiding in there is the only sane option, shooting it and running hasn't worked for many people that i've seen

Barricading the holes on the walls with heavy objects is actually a game changing mechanic and mark is once again missing out
It eventually starts to break through after the first couple annoyances based off difficulty. iirc hard is like one maybe two exit preventions then it starts breaking whatever's infront of the hole. Unsure about lower difficulties but he does do it on them too.

It really isn't. I blocked a hole in the prison with an explosive barrel and the monster just straight up punched it.
@@RoboticMagus If you cover the hole just right and with enough heavy stuff, the monster won't be able to use that hole. There's even an achievement in the game for completely blocking a hole up to the point where the monster can't use it anymore.

Yep, however my ADHD does not. The longer the video the more breaks I take, I don't like livestreams, because they're live. I made an exception for UA's 12 hour livestream because it only happened once and in my time zone it went from 8 pm to 8 am so there was no daytime stuff (work, food, my dog etc) that I'd have to do however I didn't get any sleep

for anyone wondering it actually does stop the monster, or at least slows it down, depending on how determined the monster is. It has to break the thing in front of the hole first, so you get a loud warning, and sometimes it'll stop trying to come out altogether.

The narrative timing of his generator running out just as he's leaving so he has to make the whole trip back through the main hub area in the dark was peak timing. I'm hoping he gets around to using all those locker codes. I'm sure there's a lot of stuff he can utilize in them, probably some quest items too. All the lockers are presumably in one room (I've not played the game, I just assume so), so he's just overlooking them, though it *WOULD* be easier if he'd go to the locker room with the *LIGHTS ON!*

Technically you almost always want to sprint in a horror game, but some moments he chooses aren't the best. Also he sprints and it's fine a lot of the time.

They make you faster than the monster so you can escape, but, in doing so, means you can sprint everywhere if the monster is behind you. Or they need to have a loud 10 second animation to notify you of where the monster is coming from, but 10 seconds is enough to sprint to a completely new place
@@thegeneralgamer4921 Like they balance it at least in most horror games so it isn't too op thankfully. They'll have it limited, it only gives u enough time to hide cause eventually they'll catch up, or in the panic you'll screw yourself over and get into a worse spot blindly running (this happened badly to me playing outlast 1 and dying light). If you ever played the evil within (markiplier played both games) sprinting feels like hell cause sebastian runs only a couple seconds before getting out of breath.
@@thegeneralgamer4921 Then you have Nemesis in the original RE3: faster than you, could instantly kill you if he grabbed you, and sometimes he carried a rocket launcher. In the original he also showed up randomly unlike the scripted Nemesis in the remake.
I think the Xenomorph in Alien Isolation follows a similar line of logic (minus the rocket launcher).

@@daddysyand3re to add on, the water Henri gives Lambert while in the crater is tainted by the roman artifact, the water is the same water as the stuff from Rebirth, that made all of the researcher's crew turn into monsters. Lambert was unlucky enough that the war impacted his transformation to such a degree that he is even more of an abomination than what the water would normally have done to him
Yeah the second he read that I instantly remembered what we learned from Rebirth. Like well.....shoot. Henri is literally stuck hiding from his once best friend that now hunts him, having inadvertently caused this transformation by trying to save him. What gross twist of fate-
