Palpatines teachings from Plaguies are very similar to Tarkin's upbringing by his family on Eriadu. Strip the rich and privileged young man of his comfort and sustenance, then put him in a dire destitute situation. No wonder the two got along so well, they were basically kindred spirits.
Its actually because Tarkin has no moral compass beyond ambition and control. Tarkin was kept close to Palpatine's inner circle to ensure he didn't become a dangerous enemy. When you're dealing with a fixer who orders Empire sanctioned horrors, tortures, unethical experiments, and military occupations without losing a wink of sleep is dangerous. Palpatine keeping Tarkin close was also to keep him under control. If I were Palpatine, the only person I'd ever allow an opportunity for a backstab would be Vader, nobody else should ever be allowed that chance.
Also known as "fancy British boarding school"
@@Loku242which was his undoing, why give anyone a chance for a backstab? Lol
@@Loku242, keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
@@theprodigalsun__ To give Vader the opportunity to prove he can surpass his Master. Despite being utterly selfish, Sidious was devoted to the Sith Order in his own twisted way. He even bothered to wear that fancy Sith robe to the announcement of the Empire.

Fun fact , in the Darth plagues novel , when plagues first meet sheev , sheev didn’t won’t anything to do with politics , in fact , he actually hated it .
ironic...
Nice. So he orignaly hated politics. But ultimately must have told himself down the line on his path to the darkside too... dew it!
Been wanting to read that book for awhile. I own all the X-Wing series books. And a few others.
...perhaps before anyone else he was first to tell himself.... do it!. Perhaps he studied Plato around that time. That the price of apathy toward public affairs was to be ruled by Evil men.
@@SilverlightShinnin 😂😂😂
An amazing Star Wars novel it was. One of the best books I’ve ever read.
He didn't hate it. He attempted to deceive Hego in order to hide his ambitions... as he was used to doing so since he was little.
It’s a good first lesson as Plagueis himself had to rely on only himself and the Dark Side after he murdered Tenebrous and was stranded on that world.
Yep. Same with Darth Bane and Zannah in the Bane books
It just shows how brilliantly cruel the Sith ultimately were and is it any wonder they were able to create the galactic Empire? Also, it just shows how brilliant the legends material truly is and still is to this day.
Honestly this shows how flawed the sith truly are. All they know is suffering which they use for conquest. They no nothing of how to sustain an empire. Thats why the empire lasted merely 30 years while the republic did for 1000 years
👍 legends material is still unmatched!
@@lfr234 The Republic existed for several thousands of years, the only thing that changed 1000 years before Palpatine said that line was that the Sith religion was presumed to be extinct, leading the Jedi to recuse themselves from any political positions within the Republic's government. Unless Palpatine just had a Freudian slip moment and was actually referring to the Rule of Two era Sith Lords.
Plaguies and his master tenabrus were so ahead of their time. They basically handed palpatine the blueprint to taking over the world . Too bad they did not live long enough to see their plans succeed.
I would imagine Plagueis’ death/murder was an integral part of the plan’s success

I want a Darth sidious and Darth plagueis back story in tales of the sith
Nah filoni will butcher them
Just read the navol or listen to it on audible
Plagueis as a they/them naahhh
Everyone does hell any story about ANY sith would have been better then wtf they gave us. Like who tf was begging for barris and the random witch🙄 disney sucks and george sucks for letting them do it
As long as it isn't from Disney
You are the goat when it come to Star Wars may the force be with you my friend sith
Plaguies was half right and half wrong about the ancient Sith. He was right to teach Sidous to deny him their knowledge until he had learned to forged himself into the Sith he wanted to be but should have let him be more free until sometime after becoming the Naboo senator. Ancient Sith or Jedi knowledge should be used to guide those who will fallow not to dictate their path
You are basically saying the same thing twice, let the ancient teachings guide you is the same as let them dictate your actions. It's as if an atheist decided to follow Christian teachings. It's literally the same
There is still knowledge to glean from the past. Maybe old rituals or at least a guide on what not to do.
Since a smart man learns from his mistakes but a wise man learns from the mistakes of others. It’s still necessary to understand why Naga Sadow, Exar Kun, Revan, Malik, Kreia, Vicitiate, etc. failed and how not to replicate those same failures. Palp’s flaw was pulling the ladder up behind him. If Anakin had remained fully human he would have taught him more but he still should have “embraced” him better because it was that weakness that Luke appealed to and succeeded in.
13:24 Sounds like Plaguies was repeating the mistakes of the Brotherhood of Darkness. They too believed that there was nothing to learn from the Sith of old. A belief that Bane soundly disproved.
Welcome my brother in lore
Plagueis will always be my favourite Sith Lord
Very interesting! I've always been curious about Palpatine's training
You and me both!
Just read the Book "Darth Plagueis".
Watch Everest Productions Darth Plagueis fan made film. You will not be disappointed. I've never talked up fan made films until I saw this. Computer animated and based completely on the book. The first half is two hours long, and the second half hasn't come out yet.

No!
Not with Kathleen Kennedy involved.
@@Gildog77 true
Yes, but not with current Disney direction.
If based on the book but I don't trust Disney.
Don't think for a moment that Plaguies was any less brutal when training Sidious
Mental and physical torture are the ways of the Sith and young Palpetine suffered too!
I always looked at Palpatine as a spawn of the dark side. I always thought he was born inherently evil, that he didn't really need to learn dark side abilities. Never really knew he had to be trained as well.
Real power is achieved through effort.... Talent is given but skill requires technique which only time can provide.
He was born evil but sometimes that evil needs to brought out. Being brought to the dark side helped with that
Thats why Palpatine was the spawn of the dark side, it came naturally to him. Also historically the most evil people come from wealthy backgrounds
He was a spawn of the dark side. That doesn't mean he didn't have to be trained.
He actually had a pretty rough backstory. He may have come from a wealthy family, but it was a very dysfunctional family with an abusive father.
"Tell me again Sidious in great detail how you kill them."💀☠💀❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
Yes
😂
In Disney Star Wars them refers to one person 😂
As both a master and Dark lord of the Sith Plagues is very underrated. Another great video
So, basically Plaguies took a rich kid and showered him with the Poor Side of the Force just to show him that poverty can have a drastic yet powerful influence on a person. I like it. 😁
All the torture that Anakin went through before becoming Vader seems less cruel than what Sidious went through. Yikes.
Awesome video, as always. Keep it up. 🙂
Ever hear of the tragedy of Darth Plaguies the wise!
Mmmm, perhaps.
Have I ever-?
With all due respect, Chancellor, that’s like asking if Master Yoda has ever heard of C0caine.
If its the real version, then "no."
"I thought not. Its not a story the Jedi would tell you. Its a sith legend."
Who is that?
What about the duality themes contained within the story of Darth Plaguis? If only there was a thesis on the topic to learn mor about it!
I kinda wish you included the part about how Plauguis took Palpatine to a species who worshiped the Sith as gods to fight and die against and at the end Plauguis took a bite out of one of their hearts like it was an apple
Yeah and then he gave Palps the heart to eat out of too 💀🙃
Palpatine's cruelty is on full display with Darth Vader.
Imagine being relieved of your arms and legs and the rest of your body burned to a crisp. And instead of being mercifully euthanized, they put you in a mechanical suit with built in life support, but are never truly given an opportunity for your wounds to heal.
I kinda like how Vague, yet insightful Sidious’s training was.
Plag made Sid sit in a snow storm for hours with very little clothing
Sidious was always a dark evil monster. The lesser one, a sith lord. And the greater one, spoiled rich kid.
I love the Plagueis novel (and a lot of the EU) because it shows that while they're destructive and evil. there's still something undeniably heroic about the Sith.
Watch Everest Productions Darth Plagueis fan made movie on UA-cam. It's done in video game type animation and based completely on the book. It's the best Star Wars fan film I've ever seen. Funny this video popped up for me! I JUST got to Chapter 13 of the Plagueis novel where they get into this lore deep. The audiobook retelling of this novel is absolutely incredible as well and anyone who likes these stories should listen to it.

I’ve been waiting for a video like this. I love this book so much. I now listen to it on audible to fall asleep. Haha
This is extremely brutal. Extremely brutal! I can understand why Plagueis avoided talking about ancient Sith. He wanted Palpatine to be clean slate, tabula rasa. But this was huge mistake too. I remember Mygeeto from battlefront 2. When I charged with clone army. We will be kind, may the Force be with you too😊
Fantastic!
1:46 i crushed that sub
I’ve watched this idk how many times since it dropped but I just love hearing about it. It makes me think about Tarkin and his own upbringing by his family which is why they seem like kindred spirits (noted as such in the Tarkin novel 😁)
Makes me wonder if Jedi and Sith were ever in competition for a Force sensitive.
I wish we could get a Darth Plaegus and Sidious show
Why Disney would just make them lesbians, or get beat up by girls.
HELL NO
They’ll just ruin it so no thanks
I mean, I grew up in northern Indiana, with lake-effect winds that lowered the temperature to that rivaling the surface of Mars, so... I get it, lol.
I recently watched Alcolyte it was good! I wish later we get to see more of Darth Plagueis! Obviously behined the scenes.
Crack kills !
This training is like David Goggins but on steroids
more discussion videos would be nice
14:24 He also brought Vader on Korriban, that was epic
Amazing holocron as always ! Disney will never fully grasp what a Sith truly is unfortunately. If they could, Tom Hiddleston would definitely be a great choice to play young Palpatine !
With The Acolyte ending, it seems Plagueis won’t even be Sidious’ master in canon which is abhorrent but sadly possible.
Darth Sidious the Cruel - extremelly well put. This should be Sidious´ title because he more than anyone earned it.
At 4:58, does any one else think that looks Matt Smith, and if so, why is he there?
They need to hire you as a writer and more people like you who actually care for the lore and build the canon how George would’ve wanted
Theres just something about Darth Sidious that makes him better than any other Sith before, or after him. Not even Emperor Vishiat compares in my eyes. Sidious IS the Sith.
where is the archivist? is he safe?
have you seen plaguies episode 1?
Wait, I thought Palpatine was born evil, not made evil because he had dark intentions since birth
He may have been born evil, but he was not born Sith. Plagueis broke the part of him that had never suffered or never felt real pain. By making Palpatine endure the squalor of normal beings Sidious was born, determined to never let his gifts lead to anything less than complete dominion over the galaxy.
While there was spmethibg sinister inside young Palpatine he never had the drive to unleash it. Some kind of morality that held him back. Plagueis played upon Palpatine's desires, his naviety and hunger for more that allowed him to tear down those moral barriers.
@@TheStupendousWave Ohh OK my friend. the Stupendous wave Make a video of the Force itself training Anakin Skywalker or what if. My friend. please
"The Sith are considered evil."
"Evil? What is that? Moments ago you defined yourself as a storm. You said you were death itself. Are you evil, then, or are you simply stronger and more awake than others?"
@@_MaZTeR_ wow. That's saying alot
Thanks!
Tarkin went through similar kinds of hunts, and was scarred all over by them.
9:20 you left out the training where Palpatine had to run while balancing an egg on a spoon. The convex side of the spoon, not the concave.
5:22 and THAT is exactly why Jeremy Allen White should play young Palpatine...he's slimripped enough to make that believable. Plus the mouse can make the money off his muscles. HoHo.
Palpatine was evil from the start. All plaguies did was give palpatine permission to act and then palpatine manupulated and killed plaguies and had planned to from the very begining. "My teacher, yes and for that i will be eternally grateful but my master ? Never."- palpatine to plaguies
He created Sidious, if Palpatine was never found he would just be an corrupt politician or not interfere at all with any conflict, Plagueis took Palpatine and molded his evil
@@Eric6761 Palpatine would've probably been a corrupt politician who benefitted plagueis either way. My point is that plaguies didn't make him evil he just just Palpatine the tools to unleash his evil
Did Mace Windu deflecting the lightning disfigure Palpatine or was he already disfigured and was simply hiding it through some sort of dark side magic?
Nice, thx!
They need to make this a movie
This how the sith should be, dark gritty mature serious badass violent brutal smart cunning evil and very powerful, not what Disney and filoni had done to them, also exar kun used dark healing to heal all his bone crushed healing from it not only make him fall to the dark side but make far more powerful than he was before
You won't ever get that, Disney isn't going to make it mature when they know 8 year olds are on Disney+
If you want that stuff go dig up 90s extended universe stuff. And play all the old video games like Dark Forces 2, Jedi Outcast, Jedi Academy, KOTOR 1 and 2, Force Unleashed 1 and 2.
@Reggie-zw8rm I know dude I'm just saying I know the EU and LucasArts games
Just truly dark intentions....and the way he was raised
The Dark Side is what you grab on to when you are in a desperate and stuck spot.
I really was curious about this
Bro, you ever thought about putting these on Spotify?
That makes sense he put darth Vader thru similar training
Now I understand why
I would love a movie or set of movies that covered palpatine origins
For some reason, before this I assumed that Sidious was so adept at the Force and manipulation that he had managed to avoid the harshest of the training of a Sith. I used to think Sidious was adept at inflicting pain instead of being able to endure it himself.
This also makes me rethink the Darth Vader comic in which a Kyber crystal mountain Sidious has in Exegol is constantly being tortured. Its powerful wailing of pain seems to have no effect on Sidious while Vader and everyone else is suffering in its presence.
Was Sidious shielding himself with his powers or was he able to brush off the pain? The latter would make him even scarier than just showing his utter mastery of the Force.
most powerful - pile of ancient sith ghosts rofling :D

I can't wait for the second half because it really is that good. Anyone who's a fan should definitely check it out. It's done in computer animated, video game, looking form. It's honestly one of the most brilliantly done fan made Star Wars films I've ever seen and a must-see for any true fan.
What I wouldn't give to grab all the resurrected spirits of Baninite Sith and just put them all into one room to see what happens.
What has he done that makes him the most powerful sith that's ever lived.
He was born on a Republic world so how were the Jedi not aware of his force abilities at a young age
He had a natural, innate ability to mask his Force power/ presence. It's very, very rare. When he became aware of this talent consciously, he fine-tuned it to a degree that he could sit in a room amongst the entire Jedi Council at their PEAK power, and not be detected by them in the slightest.
As a child, he subconsciously manifested this masking ability, so the Jedi never knew. Otherwise, they would have taken him as an infact to be trained at the Jedi Temple, ESPECIALLY once they tested his blood and found out his midichlorian count was over 20,000, higher than anyone in history (until Anakin, who was around 27,000. He and Palpatine were the only ones to be over 20k. Yoda was around 17k, and his was the highest of the Jedi at the time, for perspective. And these are canon numbers from Lucas' SW before Disney btw, so no, Disney didn't have anything to do with the midichlorian numbers.)
Please do the vitiate video next would love to hear your thoughts.
