You know, I think it depends on the type of fashion house we are talking about. Fashion houses such as Gucci, Mugler, Balenciaga, etc this business model is genius. These fashion companies are not as strong of heritage companies such as Dior, Chanel, Burberry or LV. Only 10% - 25% population in America could ever afford the buy Mugler on a regular bases. They never expect the other 90%-75% to buy full price product. But they want that 90%-75% money. That’s a lot of money. So you give them affordable “luxury” fashion. With Mugler just being acquired by L’Oreal, who doesn’t have the same budget as an LVMH owned Maisons. working with an HM who has a strong vertical supply chain allows them to have cash cow items available to the mass market while controlling the quality level. They know their consumer is not dumb and we would compare the fabrications. But they also know their consumer may not know enough. Just because its made from the same fabric doesn’t mean that fabric is the same quality. Both garments can be made from cotton but you have cheap cotton and expensive cotton. Before this Mugler was a dying brand that main cash cow was it’s perfumes. Their perfumes are amazing but before 2020 no one was talking about the brand anymore. The aim of this was not to cheapen the brand. The aim was to give you a taste of luxury so your will always hunger for more. What do people buy when they want to taste of luxury but can’t afford the garments. Accessories and perfumes. Everyone got a sample Mugler perfume when they bought something in store. Even if they never do another collab with HM again,a once dying brand is now in millions of people homes and on their radar. L’Oreal made a very calculated and very expensive risk. And it will absolutely pay off assuming they make the right moves after this. Phew!!! That’s a lot!! Sorry lol

I too first thought they were shooting themselves in the foot for having such close pricing, but the more I think about it the more I think Mugler will win in the end. These collabs always sell out and end up on resale sites for 2-5x the price. It’ll be hard for ppl to do that with this collection because instead of buying the H&M version for exorbitant prices people will likely just buy the real thing. Some people have pointed it out in the comments already and I've seen some influencers at the pre-release events talk about this too: The quality is obviously not that great. We're talking polyester quality and most of the pieces have just about 10-20% spandex, whereas the actual Mugler pieces have about 20-40% spandex. You get the Mugler look for an obviously cheaper price. Even for the expensive leather coats and leather shoes - there are so many great brands where you can buy these pieces on sale and the quality is better than this.

I think I’ve finally got my routine! Ok so - blot hair by scrunching with towel straight out of the shower, spray leave on conditioner on hair, split hair into left and right section, I use The Curl Suite Mousse and rake it into each section (using about 10-12 pumps on each side), and use the Curl Suite setting spray to finish, I then scrunch using a microfibre towel and diffuse to dry flipping my hair from side to side 🙌🏽💖
I think even though design and composition is comparable, isn't the fitting what makes the whole difference. Generally H&M versions, unless oversized aren't best know for fitting. And Mugler is all about the way it fit, its all so structured
True, this kind of my problem too. From what I read and saw the sizing is even bigger than regular H&M already is, and that is from US Americans, so the sizing will probably be even bigger compared to EU H&M sizes ... The irl mannequins' fit I've seen looked fine, but then pieces could be made for mannequins, though unlikely because that part would be handled by H&M and they can't be arsed to do shit like that. Otoh a lot of the big designer H&M collabs were very obviously not manufactured and planned by regular H&M eg Versace and fitted Alexander Wang pieces were fitted really well, but then you had Balmain which was not very well fitted.
For all we know, this could be the best strategy. You see the design and realize the real thing just looks like the real thing. H&M same design looks like a bad copy
@@itsdrea2353 Can't get everything tailored though ... there are limits infered by pattern, or fabric, or cut eg the "corseted" tops from what I've seen would be really hard to alter and even if you manage it would show, all those panels would just align wrong, also looks like you could take out a max 1cm per panel, and you'd have to take that out over the whole length, so everything would tighter not just the waist, if you need a tighter waist ...
It's so interesting that the H&M collection is so similar to their mainline. I'd love to see a quality comparison between the H&M collab and the Mugler line. I'm guessing the quality is much lower for the H&M collaboration even if the materials used are the same. I also don't think this will have much impact on the brand because people that are money on designer clothing already know that there are cheaper options available, they just choose to buy things that are more expensive. Plus, this is a one off collection, it would be different if they made it a regular thing. Pieces will sell out and be resold for much higher but it'll be capped because once the resale cost reaches a certain point, you may as well just buy from the Mugler brand directly.

I saw the collection in person and the material for the dresses was not great quality. Sad to say it felt very cheap. I ended up getting the blue hoodie and t shirt - don't hate me! - because the quality, cut and color was actually great for both.
I absolutely love the blazer with the mesh until I zoomed in, why I do not know🤷🏾♀️. The blazer with the mesh is poorly made in the back, the stitching looks odd..it might just be me. The plain blazer on the hand looks really well made and in the men version that yellow/green color is a must have.

This is what fashion houses do they sell over priced clothing that people try to justify giving several reasons for their purchases. I zoomed on some of the items, you can see bad sewing and using not the natural way the fabric was woven which make some stitches look zigzagged🤦🏻♀️ some items maybe worth it but some none! I know that you’ve said that it looks like their own line. However for me my interest is really the sizing. This collection might have something in my size 20/22. Even when I hit my goal weight, Mugler doesn’t go above a 12/46 from what I remember. I’m sure the material and construction might be be different. Though idk if they wanted more inclusive sizing why they couldn’t just do that. Fendi and Chanel at least go up to size 16/52. Commented before you said there is not sizing info. But I remain hopeful that it will be better since h&m can go up to a 20/22 and has tops in my saize
Omg Ca$$ie, "Titties to the wind" had me dying lol I do have to say there were a lot of nice items and I feel like I could buy from the men's or women's collections, especially if I liked something but wanted it more lose fitting (Like the jeans) It does seem weird how close some of the items are to the main line of products, but I very much get the vibe that they are embracing an aspect that can go overlooked by other luxury companies... which is SOMEONE is going to copy the main line products and sell them for cheaper anyways, so why not do it yourself and pocket the money for your own brand that's being copied. The Steve Madden's of the world are going to take high selling designs and make them for cheaper with or without permission, so it's very smart for Mugler to just do it themselves instead. If they didn’t mark the tag to be identified as an obvious collaboration piece I can see people exploiting this on the resale side as the higher priced item when it isn’t. Like you said they’re shooting themselves in the foot. I think they should have done “inspired” similar styles but not slight changes so you can’t really tell the difference.

Hi guys. I wanted to share my experience on the H&M designer collaborations. I used to work for the company so I've seen the Balmain and Kenzo collection from first hand. Well, I have to say the Balmain was really badly sized and made of cheap materials, the Kenzo was better quality, especially the leather items, (no wonder why I got the shopper bag). Me personally I wouldn't opt for these items, because of the quality and fittings, after all H&M is still a fast fashion brand. Who would do and go for them, I totally get it for the low prices. Please keep in mind, even though the label says the same fibre content, in reality, the quality will be different compairing to the real designer pieces. Good luck to buy them in time!! (the site might crashes when they launch them)
I recently got the Vampires Wife collab t-shirt from Depop and its an xs but I would definitely say it was more a medium-sized , quality doesn't feel amazing glad I thrifted it for a decent price.
You can tell even on the model pictures that the fitting and mesh isn’t great, the mesh is far too thick and especially the pieces that are supposed to be tighter are baggy looking on all of them. But honestly I don’t own any mesh Mugler and I’ve always wondered how well the thin mesh holds up 🤔

There's a huge price difference in different parts of the world ! Here in India the corseted blazer is only priced at 12,000 INR which is roughly $150 only and the basic bodysuits are priced at $40 ! Isn't this a shocking and dramatic price difference, wonder whether the quality would differ ?!?!?!?!
So Mugler DOES have menswear offerings... But it looks kind of similar to the h&m collab plus or minus a few pieces. And it's only really available at ssense.

I can't understand the rationale behind the pricing discrepancies between countries, for example the green leather trench coat is AU$699 in Australia and US$749 in the states (AU$1100), the corset blazer is AU$349 in Aus and US$349 and the spiral leggings are AU$129 in AUS and US$99 in the states (AU$149)

So far the reviews say the sizing bigger than regular H&M, and H&M collabs normally offer their regular size rage. idk if that's helpful?

I do have to say there were a lot of nice items and I feel like I could buy from the men's or women's collections, especially if I liked something but wanted it more lose fitting (Like the jeans)
It does seem weird how close some of the items are to the main line of products, but I very much get the vibe that they are embracing an aspect that can go overlooked by other luxury companies... which is SOMEONE is going to copy the main line products and sell them for cheaper anyways, so why not do it yourself and pocket the money for your own brand that's being copied. The Steve Madden's of the world are going to take high selling designs and make them for cheaper with or without permission, so it's very smart for Mugler to just do it themselves instead.

Thoughts on similar H&M and similar high-low collabs? Do you think it’s running it to end of its course or will we see more? Or will we see it less with Hughstreet & more with affordable brands that have niches (eg sportswear, ballet, stationary, opticians) doing it with luxury instead of general fast fashion chain
If they didn’t mark the tag to be identified as an obvious collaboration piece I can see people exploiting this on the resale side as the higher priced item when it isn’t. Like you said they’re shooting themselves in the foot. I think they should have done “inspired” similar styles but not slight changes so you can’t really tell the difference.

Hi guys. I wanted to share my experience on the H&M designer collaborations. I used to work for the company so I've seen the Balmain and Kenzo collection from first hand. Well, I have to say the Balmain was really badly sized and made of cheap materials, the Kenzo was better quality, especially the leather items, (no wonder why I got the shopper bag). Me personally I wouldn't opt for these items, because of the quality and fittings, after all H&M is still a fast fashion brand. Who would do and go for them, I totally get it for the low prices. Please keep in mind, even though the label says the same fibre content, in reality, the quality will be different compairing to the real designer pieces. Good luck to buy them in time!! (the site might crashes when they launch them)
I recently got the Vampires Wife collab t-shirt from Depop and its an xs but I would definitely say it was more a medium-sized , quality doesn't feel amazing glad I thrifted it for a decent price.
You can tell even on the model pictures that the fitting and mesh isn’t great, the mesh is far too thick and especially the pieces that are supposed to be tighter are baggy looking on all of them. But honestly I don’t own any mesh Mugler and I’ve always wondered how well the thin mesh holds up 🤔

At least in Germany there's going to be a limit of one piece per article per person. Not sure if its gonna be the same in the US though... 🤔

There's a huge price difference in different parts of the world ! Here in India the corseted blazer is only priced at 12,000 INR which is roughly $150 only and the basic bodysuits are priced at $40 ! Isn't this a shocking and dramatic price difference, wonder whether the quality would differ ?!?!?!?!

I can't understand the rationale behind the pricing discrepancies between countries, for example the green leather trench coat is AU$699 in Australia and US$749 in the states (AU$1100), the corset blazer is AU$349 in Aus and US$349 and the spiral leggings are AU$129 in AUS and US$99 in the states (AU$149)
