    Been trying to ween myself off of very bass heavy sound recently, just picked these up and really love them. I use them for gaming and music listening, and I feel like I can hear everything. Especially in gaming. The sound stage is nuts. Really looking forward to my journey with headphones like this.

    This is kind of a random comparison, but how would these compare to the Hifiman HE-560? I’ve had the Senn 560S before but not together with the Hifiman 560 which I have now. I assume the soundstage is wider on the Hifimans as it’s a planar, but I’m also wondering about the dynamics and punch and other qualities.

    Hi David, been listening through your music recommendations list, and enjoying myself immensely. I got stuck into Yo Yo Ma plays Morricone and rediscovered my Fidelio X2HRs, they do sound awesome with this genre and recording quality, and beat my HD600's here. Thanks for that and your good honest reviews!

    Thanks for this review! How do you compare these with HE400i 2020?

    • @TheHonestAudiophile
      @TheHonestAudiophile  3 роки тому +2

      Interesting comparison that I never got to do as I no longer have the 400i 2020. I haven't heard the 400i 2020 in a long while. If memory serves me correctly the bass is slightly thicker especially in sub bass on 560s but the 400i is more detailed and a little faster resolving. Mids are similar but the upper mids are more forward and aggressive on 400i. Treble is brighter and more aggressive on the 560s. Detail and resolution on 560s in the mids and treble are better. Soundstage is wider on 400i but depth, layering and seperation is better on 560s. Tone and timbre is more accurate on the 560s but it is close with the 400i.
      Keep in mind I've never had these in house at the same so all impressions are from memory.

    Trying to decide between these and 660s, obviously the price difference is huge, about £240 here in UK ($300 ????). Is the bass on the 660s a lot better than 560s ?? Also considering Beyer dt1990pros, but I worry about vocals not being has good. I sent Sundaras back because I thought vocals were horrible, it was like mic was 3feet away. So, I like decent bass (Sundara was perfect lol), but vocals are the most important. What do you recommend??

    • @TheHonestAudiophile
      @TheHonestAudiophile  3 роки тому +2

      Bass is better detailed on 660s but has more impact on 560s. The mids and treble have better detail retrieval and resolution on 660s. The 560s doesn't sound natural and has brighter signature to me.
      Here is a link to my 660s: reviewua-cam.com/video/6YVmqaUrduw/v-deo.html
      I recommend the 660s over the 560s 100%.

    • @TheHonestAudiophile
      @TheHonestAudiophile  3 роки тому

      I find that the Sundara and the 560s both have grainy upper mids and treble; the 560s actually bothers me more then the Sundara; unless played on a tube amp. The differences are small though.

      The only advantage of the 560s over the Sundara is the tone and timbre is more accurate on the 560s. But it is small difference. I'd say if you're happy with Sundara, stick with them .

    I have 3 questions. First is it worth returning my hd 560s for the hd 600. 2 how much better is the 600 compare to the 560s, what I mean is it a noticable differece or a small difference. Last question is can an iem and headphones be compare for example I saw you rank the etymotic 2xr as D tier and the 560s as a C tier so is the etymotic 2xr better than the 560s?

    • @TheHonestAudiophile
      @TheHonestAudiophile  2 роки тому +1

      Very difficult to compare IEM to headphones; you can compare in tonality but not really with technicalities. BUT with all that said, I would take the Etymotic ER2XR over the HD560 S.
      As to the comparison of the HD600 and HD560 S that is mentioned in the video. I personally would select the HD600 over the HD560 S.

    Hi, good review 👍🏻
    how would you compare them with rode nth 100? I like how hd 560s sounds but i found them a little bit veiled and lacking in transperancy. I also found their upper mids just a little bit shouty and too forward. Also, I found that using the HD560s in the studio doesn't quite capture that "true sound" needed to make the right mix decisions, especially when it comes to handling low frequencies - the mix doesn't quite translate correctly on the monitors. Does rode nth100 sounds more real to you?

    • @TheHonestAudiophile
      @TheHonestAudiophile  7 місяців тому +1

      I haven't heard the 560s since I reviewed it. So if my memory serves me correctly here are some differences that I recall. Obviously the 560s is open back and the NTH-100 is closed back. The upper mids and treble of the Rode are not near as forward and aggressive as the 560s. The NTH-100 has a warmer, fuller sound through out but may sound too dark in the uppers to some. The Rode has more accurate tone because it has better note weight . The lower frequencies are more accurate on the Rode. The 560s may be slightly more detailed and resolving. Keep in mind the Rode is more for monitoring then mixing and mastering.

      No, but the 560s offer something that most Sennheisers don't...bass extension. The extension is quite good and unlike the 600 series, they work well for electronic music. Personally, I really like them on solid-state gear (660s as well), which is something I can't say about the 600 (at least on my gear). My first pair of "serious" headphones, been listening to them for two weeks, think about switching to hd 600 because judging by reviews hd 600 is not as harsh and doesn't have annoying frequencies, but if they do, I'm gladly going to keep my 560s. They are good but this review is the only one which says about real flaws that I've noticed, other reviewers seem to shrug it off or act like it's so awesome when something annoys you when you are listening to music.
    So I give this video a like and subscribe to this channel, information in this review and in hd 600 review was much more useful then those "Oh, this X 200$ headphone is almost better than that 2000$ headphone" reviews.

Also your 660s review that I've just watched made me think about selling my 560s, cancelling order for Topping L30 amplifier and just buy 660s. K5pro is warmer with smaller soundstage so it gives balance on these 560s Sundara headphones. ( personally i hate big soundstage for stereo music i am more in your head soundstage )

      @TheHonestAudiophile  3 роки тому +7

      I don't agree that Sennheiser deliberately botched a design of a very successful line of headphones to protect sales on another very successful line of headphones; that isn't a good business plan that I don't see Sennheiser taking part in. Cost cutting isn't the reason for the flaws; it is the actual tuning and implementation that causes the issues with the timbre and aggressive upper mids, lower treble.

    Hi Dave,
    it is very interesting to hear your impression of the HD560S.
    Based on your past evaluations of various headphones and in-ears, I have found that we very often conform to our assessment of the respective models.
    This time I see the rating of the 560's a little differently.
    I have to say that I take a brand-neutral approach to the evaluation of an earphone.
    Which means that I don't initially assign a sennheiser, Beyerdnamic, GRADO, Focal ........ etc. to the classic tonal coordination of the respective brands, but first let me convey a general sound image.
    Seen in this way, you get a very interesting result with the 560.
    In a direct comparison with the rest of the Sennheiser portfolio, I agree with you, BUT when you compare these headphones with the Elex or Clear models from Focal, you can see clear tonal similarities.
    If you look at it that way and like the tonal variant of these Focal models, the Sennheiser is an absolute bargain.
    Sometimes manufacturers have models in their portfolio that differ from the rest of the branding habits.
    For example:
    The TYGR from the rest of the DT series at Beyerdinamic
    the RS2e at GRADO,
    the Stellia at Focal
    etc.
    As always, thank you for your efforts to give us your impression of affordable hi-fi products and to help interested parties to make a decision!
    Stay healthy!

    • @TheHonestAudiophile
      @TheHonestAudiophile  3 роки тому

      I am sorry but I didn't have any Focal to compare with the 560s. I did compare to the Ollo S4x. I also mentioned all the different gear used and provided music playlists. This review wasn't based on a comparison strictly versus other Sennheiser products. Also, I recommend the 560s as it is a good headphone but I prefer the 600 and the S4x instead, didn't say it wasn't worth purchasing.
      Thanks for watching and commenting. You're welcome for the review.
