    My reply after reading some comments - That fire was in the attic from the start of the video. A water can would have been pissing in the wind. Truck Companies have truck assignments - roofs ops, search, extension, etc. Engine Companies have Engine assignments - water and hoses. These guys did an excellent job!! Keep it up!

    Although American firefighters are better prepared than us Argentines, I never understood why it takes so long to extinguish a fire, this is incredible to me, sorry for my bad English, I hope you understand.

    I had been a fire/incident photog for quite a few FDs in the Walworth County, Wisconsin area and when I see guys do what I saw here it puts a lot of trust in these departments like most of the departments in Walworth County. They get to the scene and they RUN to do their job, they don't lackadaisically just walk around waiting to have someone tell them the next step or what needs to be done. They get water on the fire as soon as they can while other team members are checking for occupants & pets. They know their job and rush to do it to the best that they can.
    This video had a great response from what I saw. Good video GAK!

    I was there at lunch when this occurred. We were really Impressed with how the firemen handled the whole situation. We didn’t even have to get up. The firemen came with the hoses and went straight to the attic. Our steaks came out perfect and the Rubbard pudding was awesome. Thanks for a great job.

    Ahhhhhhhhhhhh, "house fire", I think not, more like a 3 1/2 story multi-use commercial/apartment building. Also, a note to Fire Command Officer, ordering a charged handline to the 3rd story roof's landing may well have been more effective in suppressing the advance of the fire, than 3 firefighters with a pike pole and no water. Just suggesting.

      Ever think that if they had blasted the outside fire before assessing what is going on inside that they might drive flaming embers into the building causing more spread of fire? They have reasons for what they do. Until you are an experienced firefighter, you will never know.

      The truth is, these guys did a great job of making it more complex and involving way more resources than needed. It is easy to see that a worker on a ladder inadvertently started a small fire while repairing the roof, stripping paint, ect...What is unfortunate is that nobody, either FD or civilian. had the good sense or thought to carry a simple extinguisher up the ladder, a child with a good super soaker could have controlled the fire. Even 8 minutes into the video before the hoseline gets up to the level, a skilled firefighter with a 2.5 gallon extinguisher could knock down the fire, get the thing overhauled, and be back at the house cooking lunch in 30 minutes. But yes, to the person who does not think in this way, these guys DID show that their training is paying off!

      capi1lope Thank you for your comments now let’s look at the facts. First on scene had smoke showing so they had more fire than a hand pump could handle. Remember that as far as the amount of equipment remember that” it as better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it “. Fire can move very fast inside walls and up the roof you need to know where the fire is before you can attack it. Go to your local fire house and ask them what S.l.i.C.E. stands for in fire fighting.

That's the only reason I can think of as to why there is soooooo much shaking, wobbling, zooming in and out etc. on these videos. Either that or somehow there is a huge correlation between fires and amateur videographers with parkinsons being in the right place at the right time.

In many parts of the world the owner of the building goes to jail if he/she has a fire in their home. Also in most parts of Europe they have more people assigned to prevention than suppression and their tactics are heavily focused on defensive attack.

    I understand the need to accurately assess exactly what's going on when you first arrive, and it takes a few minutes. You guys are wasting too much time getting organised. Look at all the catastrophic fires in the U.S. ( where whole apartment buildings burn down or 5 or 6 houses in a row) and tell me again how good your system works.

    • @Zb197
      @Zb197 5 років тому +1

      @@johnnz4375 your argument is misinformed. First off, theres a lot to be said watching this video. Wind driven fire to start, older construction possible false ceilings or built up roof layers. First engine company had the line stretched in under 30 seconds that's damn good. And they had the awareness to stretch it dry so they burn them selves out. If I had to guess they were probably checking the ceiling in the upper floor to make sure it wasnt running the attic.
      Second, you cant base all the videos you see on tactics alone, the US is building houses lighter and lighter everyday. These arent legacy construction homes anymore. And the fuel load is more volatile than it's ever been.
      A lot of depts here dont like to just throw water at fire from outside, for various reasons. Go inside, find it, knock it down and look for extension.
      Dont be a part of the problem In the fire service and talk shit about everyone else. It's not your dept, so dont worry about how they work.

      John NZ I live not a mile from our local fire station! Guess who did not get a call when my hay shed caught fire?
      I put that fire out myself with the aid of a garden hose it was ripping pretty good by the time the fire was spotted!
      Saved the metal shed/minimal damage. And lost the 10 bales and 13 baby chickens that was inside.
      Had I called the FD and waited the shed, the one next to it and anything in the vicinity would have been a loss.
      Not that our local FD is slow/bad. It just that by the time they had mobilized and arrived the shed would have been a loss. After a good cleaning and paint job that shed was back in service and made it a couple more years before psycho storm came through and took it , the tree in the front yard, a couple of horse shades, oh and the power pole/internet lines all in one fell swoop!
      I actually think our power company is worse than any FD as they apparently didn’t get the hay our line is on the ground memo! So when they charged the lines again I got to watch it ark all the way up the pole at 4 AM!

      John NZ your truly are an asshole, first off as said here, why try destroying a building if you can get to the seat of the fire and get it out. Second you mass of shit, if you spray water, and someone is inside , or a firefighter is inside , you will scald them to death. So let the big boys use the trucks and you sit and watch like a good little boy with no comment

      There were firemen on the inside attacking the fire at is's source. They will not blow water into a fire when there are personal in the building. That could create a great hazard for the fire fighters on the other side of the walls and under the roof.

    • @ffjsb
      @ffjsb 5 років тому +1

      ffjsb They absolutely do wear oxygen masks! It’s part of their breathing apparatus. And yes they absolutely should be wearing them!
      The Phoenix Fire department has lost 2 Fire fighters in close succession to job related cancers! The latest to die was 30 years old and had only been on the job for around 8 years. It doesn’t take much exposure to the nasty chemicals generated when any building burns to cause cancer. Every firefighter needs to be proactive over their own health. Wearing ones air mask is very important!

    I hate watching videos of American firefighters. Slow AF! (it's 8:17 before someone that is trained to put out a fire hits the roof and he HAS NO HOSE of course it's Jersey and its a Dr's office... needed to score some meds on the way up) Lets not make use of the ladder that the contractors were using, by moving it around to the front and attacking the fire from there once we have mad it to the roof, lets make entry and then FIGHT to gain final entry and throw water from the inside while we wait for the ladder truck... which BTW takes forever to set out riggers (because in America BIGGER is better) and assemble the crew that has already gone off to the interior. I challenge any of you to watch a fire scene from a European fire service and compare the speed and efficiency.

    • @Zb197
      @Zb197 5 років тому +2

      I challenge you to learn about the fire service here before you run your mouth.
      1. You don't use a contractor's ladder, who knows if it's even rated to fire service standards, not to mention any damage it has that you cant see, especially when you have at least 230 feet of ground ladders on the tiller and engine alone.
      2. The ladder company or truck company as it's called doesn't pull hose, majority of the time they dont even carry hose or water. They are a support company, ventilation, search, forcible entry etc.
      3. I've watched hours of European fire footage, you are comparing two completely different parts of the fire service.
      4. If all you have to do in your free time is troll fire videos spewing your negative bullshit, maybe spend it training or learning more about your craft.

    Hey guys! It's really Okay to put water on that Visible Burning Material from the ground within one minute after arrival so it doesn't spread.
