Green Man you aren’t lucky your just you there is no way you could have been anyone else and be grateful you live in a country that has good morals and societal structures...
Green Man maybe you should have a talk with my 11 year old brother. His spoiled rotten butt doesn’t still refuses to eat breakfast at school like probably at least half of his peers do, and I’m the one with the responsibility to cook a homemade balanced breakfast for him, taking an hour out of my day, or else my dad will just buy him McDonald’s every morning or have him eat sugary cereal daily. 🤦♀️
Felipe Gonz in your country my friend you don't undergo hard times such as my fellow citizens in Philippines...that is why we learn not to waste food that is on our table...
As a child in the UK I was never allowed to leave food on my plate, it all had to be eaten or I got it the next meal and the next, I still would never leave food now, if you have too much on your plate you didn’t need it in the first place. I cannot imagine having to live like these poor souls, and am extremely grateful every day that I don’t have too.
That's abuse and can lead to eating disorders. No child should ever be forced to eat past the point of satiety. They should eat until they're full and not forced to go further just because somebody somewhere else in the world doesn't have enough.
@@wesuri Yes that was the first thought that came to mind too. Especially with how you say you do it even now. Funny what childhood experiences can engrain into us
@@wesuri I ended up with an eating disorder from being forced to finish what was on my plate no matter what however I think it wouldn’t be so much of an issue if the child was allowed more choice over the types of food they eat and control over their portion sizes but they understand once it’s on your plate, you eat it.
If I can’t finish my food I either get a box to go if eating out or save it for the next day, been doing that for years, you guys should know this solution already
Poor kid probably doesn't even know what he's eating. All he knows is that he's hungry and having anything to eat would make him happy. Makes you appreciate life even more.

And yes, i did something because this short phrase makes people aware that not all people are blessed to have warm, clean and delicious foods in their belly. The rich should feel every bit of guilt over poverty. The middle class can't do anything about this, but the rich, in this case the rich of the phillipines, have the money to spare. Just because I live comfortably doesn't mean I can help this- but the 1% can most definentally do something, and every time they see a poor person they choose not to help.
i mean food prices in America are insane! fast food is cheap and easiest to obtain, then you got actual food like veggies and meats that still look like meats and not some overly processed goop and they cost waaay more. Go to any store in america and youll quickly find that only the wealthy can afford to buy the higher quality food products, they can go up to the deli counter and buy steaks and rib eyes, they can buy the organic veggies or those multi grain cereals with nuts in them or basically pretty much the more expensive but more healthy version of every product ever. It just feels oppressive as fuck over here in America, atleast when it comes to food.
Even if you managed to cook/boil away all the harmful bacteria/diseases on the landfill food, there's still a high chance it's been contaminated with harmful chemicals, etc. :(
Also, also - Even if they manage to sterilize the meat, re-contamination due to the surrounding environment conditions and dishes/containers is basically inevitable unfortunately.

They gave us food tickets for the community center kitchen which served real food, breakfast, lunch, and dinner, it was so good even normal people would come in and order 4 meals for 1.75/breakfast 2.75/lunch and 3.50/dinner the sunday roast was killer, just like what my Mom used to make, get doubles if I saved up my tickets if I didn't fancy or feel like breakie or lunch.

I have been working in the hotel industry for 10 years. Most hotels don't even let their employees eat the leftover food (from buffet breakfasts) since there is a possibility (since it is after the designated breakfast times) that they could get sued if the employees get sick. There has to be traces of feces from all these animals on the food, not to mention it’s COOKED meat that’s been left out and recooked again. That’s a recipe for disaster. The “chemicals” might be the least of my concerns. Like the man said, you have to have a strong stomach. If you were to take one bite of that, you’d end up in a hospital for a month.
Max Powers Go ahead and cook a piece of steak, leave it out for a couple of days, let’s say 3. On the 4th day I want you to recook that piece of meat, and eat it. Come & tell me how it goes. Of course they have strong stomachs, have you ever been outside of the country? How ignorant can you be? MrDisgruntledGamer1 Agreed.
i mean food prices in America are insane! fast food is cheap and easiest to obtain, then you got actual food like veggies and meats that still look like meats and not some overly processed goop and they cost waaay more.

The point of my rant is that any developed country could end this suffering but don't want to so ergo allowing it basically at least indirectly.

And all the kids in America complaining about school lunches
Edit: it’s already a privilege to get half decent food. If your school lunch is inedible, such as being raw or rotten, you just have to do one thing. Contact the county about school food, or talk to a school’s health inspector. Solved all the problems. I’ve personally never had a problem besides the students complaining.
All those americans throwinf out expensive meat before the expiratiom date
So because people in other countries are struggling, they don’t have a right to complain about undercooked shitty food? Not American kids fault that they live like this..
Instead of blaming kids, why shouldnt we be blaming politicians instead?
Riou Mason Busujima I’m not blaming kids for this reason, just saying kids in America not grateful for their lunches.

What's the point of waiting until it goes to landfill? Why not strike a deal with restaurants to take their garbage for them at the end of the day, eliminating the potential for more contamination as it travels to the pagpag kitchens in the poor communities.
brig mimpniks most restaurants don’t do that. I think Jollibee which is the country’s biggest fast food chain is strict with their waste because they know they’ll end up as pagpag.
brig mimpniks
It's against law and corporate code.
If anything happens to those people it's not the company's fault. Most of that food is leftover from customers. They could be contaminated with diseases, bacteria, and even an evil customer puting poison on them.

Max Powers Lol you’re saying disease isn’t that great of a risk and compare it to slaughterhouse meat?? I’ll stick with meat that comes from a slaughterhouse, you go ahead and eat meat that comes from a landfill.
Max Powers Did you not see the roaches? Rats? Maggots? All of those carry diseases.
For example, the locals can drink tap water that would otherwise kill someone like you because your body isn’t used to the bacteria/parasites. That’s why they tell tourists to stay away from certain foods at places like Mexico. You’re clueless. Their immune system is ages ahead of yours. With your logic then we could all eat shit & not get sick if we just overlook the gross factor.
Food was never wasted in my home, being such a precious, God-given commodity. There's no food shortage on the planet, only greedy and evil people controlling it.

Well said........I hope your father is okay now. Eating rats in one thing but the thing that appears to last forever in people effected by war is the trauma and memories. U might not be a trained psychologist and might not be able to afford for him to go to a psychologist but IF he ever chooses to talk about it LET HIM and don't brush him aside telling him you have to go out. If U have to go to work that is one thing and tell him that you want to hear his stories as soon as you return home. If you are just meeting up with friends cancel it and sit down and have some tea with him while he talks. Just being able to talk about experiences he has endured to a family member has proven to be a big psychology help to people with trauma in many other cases.
