The .300 Blackout round is a lot like the 9x39 round the AS VAL uses, being a 5.56/.223 round necked up to .30 cal (aka 7.62mm) and being subsonic. So less of a "between .45 and 5.56" and more of a "rebalanced 5.56" since it's got lower velocity but a larger projectile.
@@Turtletanks i mean yeah if your comparing it to subsonic 7.62x39 becuse then they would both be 30 cal projectiles flying as close to the speed of sound as they can with out breaking the barriar
300 blackout is a heavier bullet than 5.56, it’s practically a 308 bullet in a 5.56 case, obviously the case has be modified to fit the 308 bullet, but they use the same Bolt Face. It was Designed to be ran in shorter barrels and suppressed.
It's a neat round in the real world. You can swap a 5.56 upper reciever and you're using 300 blackout. It uses pistol powder so it allows the use of shorter barrels, and when subsonic, unlike the 5.56 which derives it's power from being a tiny round with speed, compensates the lack of speed with a fat bullet. It is essentially a submachine gun conversion like the MP5SD but with a more effective round in the subsonic category.
@@deaconhollow it is infact a 7.62 mm projectile but the case length is shorter then say a 7.62x39 or 7.62 nato(7.63x51) i beleive the case length of a 300 blk/wisper is like 33 or 34 so it is techneckly 7.65x34(well actually its a .308 diameter bullet so it would be 7.82 but then that would make 7.62 nato 7.82 nato so idk man
300 blackout is actually very similar to 7.62.39 it's like a ar version of that round. It excells in guns cut short for cqb because it can burn all the powder even in a short barrel. It doesn't have to be subsonic.
Not true, the honey badger was designed as an MP5SD replacement for SOCOM. Meant to be really quiet when paired with subsonic ammo, but more versatility because it runs supers as well. MP7 isn’t viable for subsonic cartridges. Not comparable roles.
@@xboxisbetta i know i am late but the reason why socom doesnt want to use the mp5sd was because of the gun ages and also it's expensive so they thought of making "their own" plus it's actually better.
The Badger is literally an M4 Val. The suppressor is actually integral just like a val, and it uses 300 AAC Blackout. The weapon, (the ENTIRE weapon, cartridge, and silencer) was developed by Advanced Armament Corporation in the early 2000's, like 2002 or something. Just like that of the Val, the cartridge is a cut and necked-up version of the standard military cartridge for the respective countries, USA taking the 5.56 case, and necking it up to a 220 grain .30 caliber bullet for the ultraquiet subsonic punch while still making armor beg for mercy. Individually, the rounds are shit, like every other attempt to defeat modern body armor with intermediate or lower rounds. However, like other weapons, it is easily capable of defeating body armor at close range (except steel, sorry Ceramic elitists) by the sheer talent of hitting it lots of times very quickly. 800 RPM, specifically. It never saw military adoption, though the cartridge was put into circulation (the gun was essentially a fancy m4 to show off their new boolit) by various speedy shooty bois *ahem* Tier 1 and 2 operations groups, and we didn't hear shit about it or the round until COD ghosts blew it up for pop culture, and then some guy named Q (who used to work at advanced armament and I believe was largely responsible for the integral suppressor) started making them for civilians. For like 6k. For an M4. That isn't even full auto. Fuckin why?
