    I believe here and now in 2022 that Mike Johnson is the King of the Steel Guitar Players. Of the many steel players of today he is indeed my favorite.

    This man can play with such a depth and feeling. Not to many people can play steel like that

    Music from Heaven...
    When I produced a "Steel Guitar Convention" in Atalanta ('97); I asked Mike Johnson to come and play. He was a very kind person, in saying yes. And when he played, the people went crazy; listening as wonderful He plays; a Pedal Steel Guitar. Awesome. Praise Jesus' Holy Name.
    But, that was '97, and now he is SO much greater. I would class him: with Gary Carter and David Hartley; are THE greatest 3 SG players today. And May Jesus rests the precious Souls of SG players like Buddy Emmons, Jimmy Day and many others that, are gone now. And How do I miss them.
    But, we have these three Greats, to❤them now, as in this video. May Jesus bless them and their's, always.
    Thank you Mike, for coming to the show in '97. And I had the honor of speaking to your Mother; about her incredible Son. Many regards to both of you, Kind Sir Mike. And who would not❤Rhonda Vincent? AMEN!

    A Mike Johnson solo is a piece of art. He plays with so much soul and expression. He enhances everything he plays on. Above all he is a wonderful human being. Nashville is fortunate to have him in its midst.

    See him grin and chuckle because he knows he nailed it. Gotta be a real blast to be able play like that. Great job Mike, I enjoyed that as much as you did.

    Mike is fantastic Steel Player in his own rights. In my 68 years playing the Steel Guitar he appeals to my ears as one of the best and, I have heard a batch of them that are now gone. Keep up the great work Mike. Even though I never took up with the pedals, I love the sounds. I still play like it is in the 1940s but I love the today sounds.

    Mike Johnson is the steel guitar players' steel guitar player. In my rankings, he is at the top of the list along with the late great Weldon Myrick.

    • @maverickdallas1004
      @maverickdallas1004 6 років тому

      Upon closer examination, the pickup is the older, legendary chrome-wrapped Bill Lawrence model 705.
      One of the nicest-looking and best-sounding pickups ever made for steel. I wish they were still being made exactly the same way!

    • @steelarama
      @steelarama 5 років тому

      @@maverickdallas1004 They are, made from the same machine as the originals. The same magnets and materials, the only thing different is the new 705's have the black wrap instead of chrome. Alot of players are using the new 705's. They are still the closest thing to the chrome 705's.
