My personal fav for ranged build is Vindicator class, with mythical evoker of eigoloth weapon. It's super easy to build, tanky, and have devastating solo output :D Your infiltrator build is kinda awesome, might try it later
My favorite ranged build is a Shield Braker, using Blackwater Coktail and Granade as main damage source and Termite Mines and Guardian of Empyrion with Celestial Presence to reduce enemies resistances to elemental damage.
What ended up happening with me (maybe because I'm crazy) I created a toon for each class. As I played I collected gear that would compliment possible builds related to that class. It also helped with the sheer volume of great items you will find and not know what to do with.. As for a first class I found it best with Soldier.
Awesome video! Do you also do guides for the Dawn of Masteries mod? 'Cause the amount of cool extra classes and skills are insane. Would love to see some guides for good builds for that mod. It's fun, but pretty overwhelming.
DOM is amazing! I was planning to make builds for DOM masteries indeed - just decided to wait a couple more months till the Fangs of Asterkarn DLC release, as clearly the mod will have to be updated for such a massive game update. After both FOA DLC release and DOM being updated for it, I'll look into this 👀 And thank you!
Hey, iam new to the game and wanne try the pyromancer. U mentioned in the video to put ur points in physique and cunning, but isnt this a fire build and spirit is for magical dmg? or what am i missing?
Yo! You're missing basics of GD - ranged gun builds are fighters, first of all. They need damage itself, accuracy to land those hits etc, as they rely on autoattacks. Plus their respective gear requires physique and cunning too. The damage [type] and all kind of its conversions is a normal thing in GD in general - the fact a gunslinger does elemental damage from the attacks he lands doesn't make him a mage. "Pyromancer" is also just a resulting name of a class where you combine two certain base classes (masteries). Same class can be developed into dozens of diametrically different builds - gunslingers, mages, melee barbarians and tanks and so on.
My first 2-hand ranged build was Sorcerer. It felt rather weak compared to the other ranged variations. May give it another go since that build was from 2017. :)
@@SinitarG Certainly, you mention in the vid that the attribute points are distributed 70% Physique and 30% Cunning. According to the calculator, 107 points total and that gives us like 75 points Physique and 32 points Cunning. As a noob in this game, I simply wanted to verify if it's indeed like this. So, we dont't allocate any points in Spirit or additional points in Cunning for more dmg? Or is the dmg output sufficient as is and therefore we add a lot of points in physique for survivability and stronger armor?
Hi, Great video I started a pyromancer because of you ^^ I saw many build of dual wielding pyromancer and I was wondering if your witchblade was more suited for chaos dual pistol or pyromancer will do the work ?
Im starting GD again after a few years off, it totally feels like a new game lol. Do you have more vids of the DW Infiltrator? It looks awesome, thanks for the content.
Ofc you do need resistances - you should always focus on maxing them out. Grimtools show low resistances because, as mentioned already, it doesn't have components and augments (which build up major % of all resistances), because those are being changed often during the walkthrough. In some cases, one can heavily swap components and augments even just to farm a specific dungeon. You should simply put ones you're lacking the most at this point of your gameplay.
hey there, great video and really awesome builds, so thank you for the vid :) I am leveling a ritualist, aiming for your aether build in late game, but i was wondering if you actually only convert 40 to 60% lightning to aether? from the weapon conversion bonus. Or is there some extra conversion somewhere that I cant find (besides other types of conversions). Also you mention devotions should go towards boosting lightning (besides aether) for further conversion, but doesnt conversion happen before any damage modifiers from gear + devotion? Thanks for your help :)
Hey there! Lightning damage is less than 9% of this build's autoattacks and also a minor part of damage in total - but at the same time, when the lightning damage is being done, it's strong as well due to damage bonuses from items and devotion. The exact devotion setup is recommended for the best overall sustainability of the build in total (it's not only about minmaxing damage in an ARPG), plus most of constellations that have lightning damage bonuses or abilities, also have aether one. P.S. if you'll have other questions, hop in our discord please.
Darkblaze Incinerator pistol's passive ability allows to DW ranged weapons. Till you'll get it, you can use Gunslinger's Jacket, Marauder's Ammo Belt or or Gunslinger's Talisman (or their respective upgraded versions), that also provide the same passive ability. The weapon is literally in the build's calculator page and other items are mentioned in the video description. If you'll have any other question - hop in to our discord.
Hi was just wondering why you used Aura of Conviction instead of Aura of Censure in the Inquisitor tree. Wouldn't Censure be much better with the target skill disruption, reduced target damage, and elemental resistance reduction? Sorry new player here so I'm prob missing something.
Hey there! Nothing about being "noob" - it's a normal question, and on paper, you see things right. Technically, indeed, for both builds here involving Inquisitor (Infiltrator and Purifier), Censure looks better in terms of digits. Yet, in ARPGs, it's not everything about just minmaxing damage output (in which Censure is 100% better ofc) - it's also about survivability in lategame. Practically though, in terms of damage, both builds are already far than great in damage output, and both have decent resistance reduction even without Censure's passive. Skills Disruption doesn't work on bosses - and due to amazing damage, all regular enemies die in matter of moments anyway before they can land a serious damage anyway. Reduced target damage is also arguable as it lasts only 1 second and practically, you won't be able to maintain this debuff on bosses constantly, often. Censure also has pretty short range. Conviction here is better as it generally improves survivability, increasing physical resistance which is a free tenacity bonus. Offensive ability bonus is also good as if fits both builds as they are relying on crits. If you'll have any other questions - hop in to our Discord. Cheers!
Love these builds, just wish there would be steps on GD tools for how to do devotions and order to put points. New to the game, makes it somewhat confusing
Hi. I really want to try your pyromancer build that you show in the beginning of the video but I saw a couple issues on grimtools. The aether resistance is -1. The monsters would one-hit you with that not maxed out. The second issue was that you didnt use any components nor augments on your armor. I don't even know how you managed to get to the ultimate with your stats.
None of the builds show armor components and augments because there is no sense for that as those will greatly differ for every player depending on their gear throughout the game till they reach recommended endgame gear. And obviously, as no armor components at all are linked, some resistance number will be low in calculator only, not for me or the player with their respective gear setup. Make 1+1 for Mogdrogen sake.
Hey, any of these recommended for a beginner player on hardcore? My current plan is to try out your tanky Mage Hunter I saw in another video but these all look like a blast too edit: Upon watching again, Pyromancer looks perfect
Heya! There's no universal answer here. Hardcore playstyle differs greatly from a "normal" one - and even if certain build is great for both leveling and endgame on highest difficulty, on hardcore, most of the builds require frequent changes because the main goal on hardcore is not progression speed and not even a ratio between damage and survivability, but survivability above everything at any time given. Hence, for hardcore it's always pretty situational and still dependent on luck no matter what, because even some microlag in the game can lead to death sometimes - something that has nothing to do with the build to begin with. Hardcore mode is mostly not even about builds themselves, but majorly about a (purely artificial, imo) feeling of challenge, some roleplay fun and microcontrol.
@@SinitarG Yeah, unfortunately I've had 3 deaths in level 20-30 range... and all 3 were the exact same thing. I click a Shrine, it summons monsters, and blocks me against the wall so I cannot move and just stand there until I die from tanking all the damage. After the first time I realized it was a possibility, I made a conscious effort, to click the shrine in a safe location and move as soon as I clicked it, but it still happened two more times anyway. So I'm taking a break from HC in this game, although I am still trying your Pyromancer on my new normal character. Pretty fun so far!
@@KingJerbear It is not a bad idea to get one character to 100 on softcore first, to at least not get too many "shocking" deaths. Since you'll get to see what are the more rippy enemies in the game while not losing all your hard work. Now that we have a evasion skill you should not get stuck on oddly placed Totems, also you can get a free movement skill after act 1 by going right to act 7 and doing the intro quest for Forgotten Gods. Update gear that has armor on it, make sure your resistances are at least high, you dont need them capped on normal while leveling, and try to keep your health to at about 150-200 for each level you have. As far as one of the better options for your first 1-100 on HC, Warder, Sentinel, Conjurer, or Druid. Warder is a unit of a tank, I had to use my first health potion at like level 50 while doing the grove boss Gargabol. With the buffs to health/s druid makes for a good combo to pick for more hardy classes. So you have Warder two hand melee for good damage and big health, Sentinel for acid retaliation which doesn't need as much OA as other builds since you can't crit ret damage and has a easy to farm starter set, conjurer can be both a vit caster or a pet build both with their upsides for HC, and Druid can do a lot of solid ranged damage with the easy to find spark thrower MI from the Ugdenbog area or a melee lightning from Forgotten Gods. Since you have different inventory on HC it's good to get a build that can work off crafted reputation items or just reputation items, MI's(greens), and common blues. Make good use of components to sure up your resistance and armor problems that your master or target devotions might lack (IE if you make a a Warder you dont have Chaos res on your mastery skill buffs, but devotions like Empty Throne have 10% Aether and Chaos res, and is a good devotion for the build.)
For hardcore and beginner player, i'll always recommend go physical-Warder or generic Warlord for the first time. Those build are easy to raise and play, cheap, tanky and forgiving. Forcewave and/or blitz have shallow learning curve. And also in GD, there're not many monster that have physical resistance.
Does this game do the whole season or league style where players roll a new build every 3-4 months? I don’t necessarily mind this but as a new player I’d like to take my time.

Does this pyromancer build still work with all the new updates to the game? I don't think you can use that many ointments anymore.
It does, I played with it already in this patch.
How hard is the end game gear to come by?
As hard as it's in Grim Dawn 😛 That's not a build question mate.
Guess that's true
