I’ve been following you for a couple of years now. I’m enjoying watching your actual forging skill improve, and I feel like I’m learning and my forging skills are improving too. Keep up the good wrk and I’ll keep watching.
Looks awesome!! I can't wait to forge another integral. Especially after watching your forge videos on these integrals. I think it is going to go even better!
Very, very informative! I really appreciate how you went into the minutiae of which part of the hammer does what and why. And it's a great looking knife! Be well Erick. Happy Friday.
That coil spring is no joke. I use them often and man I feel your pain lol. It's weird up till a certain thickness it's like trying to move a car with your kids bicycle then all of a sudden BAM it starts moving easier.
I have springs the same size. I hand hammered @ a 15 inch flat bar out of a piece. Just like you , I left an integral bolster. What I learned from hammering mine out. When it starts to cool. Stop hitting it, because I wasn't moving mine. That stuff wants to be worked hot.
Going at that with hand and hammer is a time consuming task! im glad you show not all of forging is insane large 1920s power tools sold only by the pope.
So how long did it take you to breakdown that 1 inch bar. I would have used that 50 pound little giant you have in your shop to do some of the grunt work. I am posting this question 1/2 through the video.
i love how this knife is coming along ive been trying to forge a integril but not going well your video helped alot for sure appreciate what you do for us other makers.!! is that rounding hammer one of Elijhas from firecreek forge ? and it looked like you had 1 of johns hammers from old hickory forge how do you like them ? i was thinking of buying form Elijha thanks ;looking forward to part 2 Mark 👍👍✌
Hay Eric i like all your videos i was wondering on your 1 by 30 how meny knifes can you sharpen with that pack of belts that you have showen i forget the name of it but it has a 120 up to a 1000 grit belts and a leather belt
I get my Hammers from Two Bastards Forge. You can look them up on Facebook or Instagram. Frank is awesome and can get you hooked up with the perfect hammer for you.
I tend to use CLP on my blades to keep them from rusting during the making of them. Once I'm done making them, I use Axe wax and cleaner, they are food safe.
Would I do it? Oh hell no, I get palpitations just thinking of that much work :) Its quite a monster of a knife there, if you can get it thin enough behind the final edge its definitely going to be a good cutter
Im your first time viewer in your vlog. And I am also a knife forger/a knife maker in the city of Manila. One thing I have noticed to your vlog is this thing : Im sorry to say this and please dont get mad at me. " you do a lot of talking and explaining rather than finishing your forging demonstration. Pls try to minimize ur talks and focus on ur intended forging demo. Only my suggestion. Dont get offended. Im a 69 year-old retired airline personnel and now a knife forger.
Opinions are always welcome and I don't take offense to much. I can give you a little insight into my thought process behind the talking. Over the years I have figured out what people are going to ask me about in the comment section. It's easier for me to explain it while pointing at it than it is for me to type it out and have them try to picture it in their heads. I do this amount of talking to help the people that aren't just visual learners. Trust me, it would be way way way easier on me if I could just forge and not talk.
Noted Mr River's Experience and thanking you so much for the reply. I was just giving you my personal reactions to your forging knife vlog. Because for me I am very very much comfortable watching the visual demo about knife making or knife forging. As you have mentioned - visual drmonstrations would be good enough for me. You are doing good enough for your vlog. Keep it up. My reactions and comments was just for my perceptions
@@mannydelrosario4256 thank you for that. Every comment helps me make decisions moving forward. I wish more people would speak up about what they like and dislike about the videos. Input helps us all grow.
A lot of people think that way. I did too for a long time. Think about this, almost all swords back in the days were hidden tang construction. Yes a full tang is nice, but it's not necessary. I've made choppers that are larger than this, that I've used to chop through wood, baton through wood, and cut through the base of a small tree. That knife didn't skip a beat.
Dude, I'm loving the look on this one.
Thanks man! I'm definitely happy with how it turned out.
Very good shaping technique and use of hammers, looks like a great knife.
I love the Jason Knight story dude 🤙
Sincerely, loveable good knife, specially the curves before the holster, this the place iften others don't pay attention. Hope to see it completed
Thank you!
Great job man!
Very nice sir!..Looking forward to the finish.
Looks like a Bowie Chef. I’m digging it

I'm going to apply the same principal on my "Hunting Hatchets !!
This is the one you told me about! The profile turned out great. Can’t wait to see it finished
Yup, that's the one!

Yup, those hammers are from both of them. I love them, I use Elijah's hammer on everything that I forge. I've been using John's hammer a lot lately.
You are a machine. Serious piunding
Thank you!
my mistake I think I confused you with another you tuber that had a 50 pound hammer. I would still like to know how long it took.
Yeah I wish I had one lol. Just got a 5 lb hammer and a power arm 😁
Hay Eric i like all your videos i was wondering on your 1 by 30 how meny knifes can you sharpen with that pack of belts that you have showen i forget the name of it but it has a 120 up to a 1000 grit belts and a leather belt
I have only used 2 sets in 2.5 years lol. They last a while.
Dude, how u know jason knight aint home thinkin bout u at nite??? Hell he mite b thinkin bout shit u dont even wana know bout😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
Great video.... I suggest you do the talking while the steel is cold as it was getting cold quickly while you were talking... just my opinion
Do you have a link for your hammer, the straight and cross peen combo hammer where I could get one
I get my Hammers from Two Bastards Forge. You can look them up on Facebook or Instagram. Frank is awesome and can get you hooked up with the perfect hammer for you.
what do you use to keep your blades rusting or corroding
I tend to use CLP on my blades to keep them from rusting during the making of them. Once I'm done making them, I use Axe wax and cleaner, they are food safe.
Wazzup!
Would I do it? Oh hell no, I get palpitations just thinking of that much work :)

The River's Experience. Thank you so much. You are a "positive thinker". Kudos !
Your poor shoulder lol
Nope. 1” 5160…. That’s why I have power equipment lol. That’s a lot of heating and heating by hand. Knife is looking good though
Why make a really robust blade like that. but then make a weak tang?
A lot of people think that way. I did too for a long time. Think about this, almost all swords back in the days were hidden tang construction. Yes a full tang is nice, but it's not necessary.
