Remember reading this book by Nigel Williams years ago. It was funny then and makes a hilarious 2-part series. Great to see Inspector Japp making a "cameo" appearance.

I totally called who the murderer actually was! The first episode was a bit annoying with him being just a twit and her a shrieking harridan, but then I get how frustrated a couple can get with each other when they’ve disconnected and stopped caring about each other. They were just a little extreme, though I’m not gonna deny wanting to wrap my hands around my husband’s throat if he leaves another mess for me to clean up…
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view!" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"
You refer to the music playing after the song Guantanamera, by The Sandpipers. It says in the Transcript about the show, that that score is the 5th song in the show, out of 6. It was just a score done for the scene, by Fireworks Music. So it is just a snippet of music for the show..

People who either through no fault, nor any interest of their own, Would NOT devour with squirmy delight, or enjoy the literary parallels to the great writers of th3 last centuries, this wonderfully acted series. Bores, and dunces, and those devoid of ALL feeling, humour... and education, would find this dull
Pretty silly to be honest, does not know where it's going.... some reference to feminism....then Thatcher.....compared to modern-day TV etc, I found this a bit tiring.....and boring.....
