The fact that you can look in the direction of a ship and then target without having to go from ship to ship till you land on your desired target is awesome!
The only complaint I have with the Tobii is that it doesn’t incorporate a regular face cam, or integrate with FOIP. Being able to have eye tracking and enable FOIP all in the same package would be very cool. Other than that it is an amazing product and I am glad have it
I am glad that big streamers finally presenting Tobii Eye Tracker 5. I bought one when Star Citizen announced for the first time back in almost 2 years now, and said that Star Citizen will natively support TET5. It works fantastic since that day. Really happy with this awesome device.
Sounded a bit like Morph in this video, lol! All jokes aside, this is quite a useful and well-made video - nice work! Some good practical suggestions - thanks. I got one of these late last year and for SC especially (whilst it lacks "native" VR support) and I can vouch for your statements suggesting the device significantly enhances situational awareness and QoL in ship combat and VFR navigation - That's before we even get to "Firefox" / Apache style target-where-you-look missile locking and target tracking! The added bonus is the ability to use one's eyes as if one was "rubbernecking" - looking around at the sights outside the ship's bridge / cockpit and soaking it all in. The other day-to-day non-gaming benefit I get is that the device "wakes up" my screen when I sit back down to work after wandering off to get a tea / coffee 😉
I've been rocking my Tobii since day one and it's like having eyes on the back of my head, except they're on the front. I've disabled the gaze feature because let's be real, it's creepy when your computer knows where you're looking. Now I only use the head tracking, which makes me feel like a bobblehead, but in a good way.
I've got a TrackIR and I can honestly tell you that it does tons for immersion. It's expensive as well but a far better investment in the game expdrience than a Connie or MSR.
Hey SM, I finally bit the bullet and will get the TET in tomorrow, alt5hough it will be used more in MSFS than in SC lol. I will use it in SC but rarely test any more. Thanks for the great informational video.
I prefer eye tracker to VR because I don't have to wear a stupid big headset. It's good software, and has added conveniences and accessibility features for using your computer.
Heres what doesnt make sense to me. If i turn my head to the too right to look at something up there. Wont that thing move towards the center of my screen? So then i move my head to follow it to the center which puts it back to the top right orrr i move my eyes down to the left to the center. Which its watching and using so it will counter that movement. Is this not how it works?? It looks great in the videos but i want to see video of the player as they use it.
This is a way better video presenting the Tobii Eye Tracker 5 than the vid of Eradicator xD I have had an Eye Tracker for about a year now. Yeah it helps a lot and is at least a bridge to VR for SC.
I love the Tobii, I've been wanting one for years but haven't had the cash. It's definitely on my list for what to do when I have some money for it. It looks really cool.
I've the TrackIR & the Tobii. Both are great, but it is nice not to have to charge an IR clip & have eye tracking. Head tracking is an absolute game changer for all seated experiences and when I don't want to don a VR headset to go sim racing, it still allows the awareness needed for wheel to wheel racing. It doesn't make me suck any less, but definitely a worth while peripheral.
@@themollerz I guess it really depends on what you play. For Sim Racing, VR is there, but at a high cost. I think it's hard to argue against that. For flight experiences, maybe. But a good head tracking solution is better than playing without one.
@@Anonnymouse53 I do know what you mean. Cool point! I wasn't thinking of racing but more the likes of BMS or DCS. While it is getting there I would consider this the 1999 cell phone phase of VR if you will. I do think it will one day become ubiquitous as much as smart phones are now. AR will no doubt blend into VR at that point in everyday use.
"For eye tracking, we need to track where you are looking on your screen and therefore the maximum screen size supported is 27" for 16:9 and 30" for 21:9. " This is what forced me to consider other options. I have a 48" monitor.
Third streamer in a couple of days that`s promoting this, yet i have not seen anyone of them use it before, i know they`ve had it for a long time. tobi must be paying you guys good cash $
I cannot in any kind of good faith expect or indorse anyone paying for another piece of hardware such as Tobii to play an alpha that is so broken. I also cannot fathom anyone of good conscience trying to justify even for their own profit to be so dishonest as to suggest anyone make such a significant purchase to use on such a dysfunctional alpha testing that they have been dompt into giving money for so they could be used as a free game development tester. Shameful.
All he talked about were the merits of the product, the price doesn't make those merits untrue, it just makes it more or less relevant to the individual viewer. If his thoughts on the device weren't true, I'd call that disingenuous
The fact that you can look in the direction of a ship and then target without having to go from ship to ship till you land on your desired target is awesome!
You can actually manually aim gimbals by looking too. With a head tracker you just end up with a sore neck, but with an eye tracker it's glorious.

I got a monster Origin build showing up next week, I think I'll finally have the frames make an eye tracker worth while. Great vid, saved for later.
FYI: There is no Linux support for Tobii Eye Tracker 5 (for those interested)
This is a solid video, thanks for sharing!

The look to target feature is nearly the best part. I wish we could slave the gimbals to our eyes but not our head.
Nice breakdown on the options and features. Thanks Mike!
Thank you for sharing your settings. This was really helpful.
My tobii's en route. Thanks for this🎉
Devs just need to add VR. Tobii is not worth it today especially with VR headwear introducing in-hardware eye tracking.
I bought one a year ago and can't play without it. Its a fantastic bit of tech
Nice, I wanted to know more about the Tobi, I've just been using a Razer webcam which is ok but only about 85% of inputs are reliable.

Such a fascinating tool. I am intrigued by it for racing as well as that little bit for missile game play.

IMHO VR really isn't there yet, and head tracking is a really incredible stop gap.

Just bought one yesterday 15% off had to pop on it.
Need a new PC before eye tracking, unfortunately.
I've seen how much value eye tracking adds to games like SC.
Keep up the hard work, Mike.
Tobii is great, but not having the ability to edit head motion curves is a bit of a deal breaker for me. I prefer Track IR for that reason.

@@Needlesse Would? Can anyone confirm? I haven't found a solution that works with GSync yet.
I was going to write something sarcastic 😂 but this was actually a very informative vid. Nice
I was wondering how to set to tobii up.thanks
Imagine being able to use the Quest Pro in-game for head, face, and eye tracking!
Once you go track you never go back.
I actually have a TET5, did not even know this game supported it.
an eyetracker has been on my hardware wish list for a while...
Nice vid🎉
Can we just take a minute to laugh at star citizen during the clip of locking and firing a missile
Tobii is not plug and play. Mess with the configuration a little and I promise you will fall in love.
I just got one ❤
im just gonna wait for the quest 3 and play it in vr with mods
On the way, last piece to complete my setup
Track don’t crack!
trackir5 is cheaper and better, gives you better control and you can look behind you with no trouble
MUH IMMERSION!!!!

The thing isn't exactly cheap, I don't know if you're being genuine, Mike
Agree, also I’d like to point out, you need to be able to log in the game first lol, so wrong time for a placement
