Getting started with Matterhackers Pulse XE 3D printer

- This summer, @MatterHackers contacted me to see if I was interested in reviewing one of their 3D printing machines in the context of printing guitar parts. In this video, I assemble a printer enclosure, unbox the Pulse XE NylonX Professional bundle, and print the Phil A. Ment Matterhackers astronaut logo.

We are so happy to see you succeeding with 3D printing - well done! Looking forward to seeing all the cool things you create!
Wow….this is awesome. Looking forward to learning more and seeing your new creations.
I'm considering this 3d printer, mostly because it prints nylonX. Thanks for the review, it gave me some good insight.
Glad you found it useful!
Biggest thing I’ve found about this printer is that there isn’t the same community around it like some of the more popular machines, so it can be hard to get answers to questions, share settings, etc.
But as a machine, it’s worked great, and I hope to make more videos soon
Very inspiring - I shared this with my son, we watched it together. We saw similar 3D printers at our local vo-tech recently (at an open house for aspiring tech students), who knows who else this video might inspire?
Thanks for checking it out Chris! I definitely think that CNC/3D printing jobs are a great non-traditional path for students who might be better suited to working with their hands.
Of course, once you get into the CAD side of things, engineering and geometry quickly become relevant
The pulse xe we got a year and a half ago is junk and has been nothing but problems
I've had nothing but Y axis shift issues for a year now. I've tried all the common fixes. I tried belt tensioning (Y axis belt tensioner design is just plain stupid), Y axis belt replacement, acceleration and feed movement adjustment, and the list goes on. I just replaced the Y axis stepper motor (Matterhackers NEVER has any parts in stock that I need when I need them). I had to find parts from a 3rd party supplier. I'm at the point now where I.m just about to get rid of it and buy a Bambu Lab X1 Carbon....🤬
@geoberger2003 we went to Bambu Labs for our robotics team this year and couldn't be happier, especially at the price point and speed
Yeah…I never repeatably got good results, so I ended up going with a Bambu Labs A1. But that got recalled, so then I got an X1 Carbon.
Both are fantastic machines, and I got to focus on making instead of tinkering
