    In reference to mobile or manufactured homes, my experience was good with the tenants or owners, and generally not good with the property owners or landlords. They were usually very cheap, and didn't appreciate a high caliber contractor. That unmowed lawn would be the first tip off about the presence of cheap. Hopefully, you will give us a follow up on that call. Good video as usual. 😎

      I keep telling him that. He must like being abused. I learned that in year one. Now on year 22 I still don’t work for landlords, apartment complexes, commercial businesses, builders or insurance companies. I make a good living, don’t have to wait on my money for weeks or months, rarely have a warranty call after I stopped selling junkitrol aka Goodman, rarely work weekends or after 5 pm. Why, do good work, take care of loyal customers, I’m picky, not anyone’s buddy and I charge above average prices for my area. If you are a low baller, I hope you like working a lot and spending time away from your family.

    Id verify that the evap coil isn’t undersized instead of the condensing unit being oversized. Maybe the duct work and cfm is made for 3 tons. It’s more likely that the evap coil is undersized, but still I’d wanna make sure just in case

    • @mikeanonymous669
      @mikeanonymous669 Рік тому +2

      Coil was likely replaced and thats why it looks new and had to have the lineset reducer brazed in. The outside unit is the original unit/size that should be mated with a proper size evap coil.

    A nice 4 Ton coil and adding a TXV will likely tune that right in. I believe those Coleman MH Electric furnaces come with a 4T blower drive so should handle 3.5T on high speed.

    • @Balticblue93
      @Balticblue93 Рік тому +9

      That is literally exactly what I said. Throw a 4-ton coil and TEV in and possibly upgrade the blower motor, but a half ton coil is not going to magically fix the system. That is barely worth the work.

New coil with correct piston should get this one rolling. btw, im assuming we know the previous company replaced the evap with a smaller one. maybe they Found a leak and replaced coil, kinda like they Fixed an issue and caused another one. Amazing..ppl look, but don’t see! In Utah we are having a freak 80+ day right after over a foot of snow literally just melted off..I switched my Mitsubishi mini split (a four head of five available) to cooling, and first was trying to run it like I’m used to down south, with high manual fan settings, and it just..never shuts off even when you reach temperature..so, I do my research, and just put the four heads on auto, with certain rooms at certain temperatures, and..it’s shockingly, shockingly quiet! Both the indoor cassettes, and probably even more shocking is how quiet the outdoor unit is..I’m used to hearing….”BBBLLLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!”.. from every outdoor AC I’ve ever heard, and this thing just sort of gently makes a draft of the warmth off the coils..then as I’m standing there, it ramps it down even slower..I’m just amazed by this technology..I’m only using four of the available five heads because I only have four main rooms upstairs, and didn’t see a need to install the fifth one downstairs as I’m by myself, the downstairs seems cool all summer as I’m set into a hill, you walk in my ground front door, then go downstairs and walk out the back of the house, so it stays pretty cool in summer. I think the cassettes are a 12 in the kitchen, 9 in living room, and two 6000 in the bedrooms..the kitchen is west facing so they bumped up the capacity. I’m just beyond thrilled, but, I’ll have to see how it handles the 107 degrees when it comes!

    • @gor312
      @gor312 Рік тому +1

      I'd say the more likely problem is that they have the totally wrong orifice in the system. A 3 ton orifice with a 3.5 ton condenser would give you a very low evaporator pressure and low efficiency. A slightly smaller coil would just mean somewhat lower efficiency, but this wouldn't prevent the system from working.

    first off if your AH can move 3.5 ton of air Coil is not your problem. it does in fact derate the system as a hole some and i am not familiar with what a double wide needs in your area. that aluminum foil trying to block the Air gap in the front of the coil is a potential major problem, add that to the open air intake at the top of the air handler might be the hole ball of wax. some air flow testing might have been a good idea, could also be a TXV with air going around the coil. just my 2 cents performance data of the coil outdoor match up might be just find for sensible and laten.

    Proper metering device is first pump it down and check the piston size you could Upsize the piston to feed that coil it’s definitely not going to be maximum efficiency because of the lack of surface area (smaller coil) but it should work most new units have lower btu per ton anyway that unit probably has a 36-38,000 btu compressor even though it’s a 3.5 ton. A quick google research would give you a definitive.while not recommended I think it could be made to work.

    better not install a 3 and half ton coil unless its a 4 ton drive or same problem. I bet its 3 tons .. count the vents and the return size. better yet call the manufacture.

    There’s a reason why landlords like that have four or five different jacklegs working on their junk. They are cheap, slow to pay and rarely approve what needs to be done. I don’t work for landlords.

      100%! Ditto on this answer. 4-ton all day and check the blower speeds.

      Also I am in North Carolina, thus I will attempt to get an indoor coil that would generate an AHRI number. And if one was not available, I would NOTE on my invoice my unsuccessful attempts to locate one.

    The problem was right in front of you. You just stuffed it back in..the air is flowing around the coil where that half a** attempt to seal it with tape..
