Still pretty fugly, but that's a *very* reliable and *very* functional/versatile car for that price. Some nice features, like those seats and even the bluetooth music streaming. (I have that streaming in my Ford Escape, but I think there are $50k BMWs where you have to pay extra for it!) I like the safety improvement a lot, too.
It especially looks bigger on the inside. When you're sitting in the driver's seat, it feels like a sedan. And when you're hauling something in the back, it feels like a compact SUV! The design of the interior is one of the cleverest things I've ever seen.
This iteration of the Fit was supposed to be released before the offset crash test became common in the United States IIHS ratings. Unfortunately, the final development and release was delayed by serious disasters and the economic situation in Japan, together with some manufacturing difficulties in Mexico. (Who ever could predict that entire railway cars of parts would simply vanish, or that you'd have to hire and train your own company-sized military units to provide security?) They tried to be ahead of the curve...but couldn't quite manage it with the Fit.
I own one, bought it recently, on 31st July, it's like $15000 here (India) for the Diesel variant. Well, the 'blue' on the screen is the default wallpaper, you can change that from the settings.
wait what? HDMI? i have never seen that before and Cooley seemed to go over it as if it was a aux port...how would you use the HDMI to watch a movie? plug your labtop in?
This is cool feature, more car makers should do it. if you could hack the head unit and use it while driving it would be awesome for example you could plug your own smartphone into head unit and use google maps or sygic for navigation.
Honda took it from the Odyssey Touring Elite. I wish the Odyssey had a Blu-Ray player, because the DVD player is more than a decade old. The Blu-Ray player can also playback DVDs though.
Aaron A Quite a few cars have HDMI, such as the 2014 Honda Odyssey. Plug one side into your smartphone, other into the port and you can project your screen onto the in car display.
I loved 1st gen. The only problem I had was the noise level at highway speed. If this one solved the noise problem, this can be the best car (not compact) under $22k.
it really is hard to make an argument, at least a rational one, oh why someone would need for car than this, I just wish they would put some spunk into with something designed to compete with the fiesta ST, now that would be a fantastic car.
+up97 While don't agree either with Cooley's sentiment that the previous gen is better looking, comparing him to Trump in any way is unfair and way over the line
the tech packages are a rip off . Buy after market you get better tech at a lower price. Also buy the standard transmission on the honda they make great standard transmissions.
I agree it's expensive, but that's what they're going for these days! And Honda is always just a tiny bit pricier, but usually better quality, too. But damn, cars have gotten pricey. :(
I love when CNET has 60fps. So smooth.

My neighbour owns one of these and it looks bigger in real life than on UA-cam.

Cooley is the best! I like the sidewalk parking job. Lol. This is a pretty compelling choice in the small hatch segment. Now how about a Fit Type R?
Hell, I'd settle for a Fit Si.
+aquateen77723 Fit Type R would be awesome, just add the new turbo engine from the redesigned Civic :)
60fps really makes a difference, video looks great
i like the whole thing!! apart from two small things..
-response time for the touch screen
-the all blue screen.. get some colour
I am quite sure the color theme on the touch screen can be customized.
abaj006 You can't
Tom Ritchie Yeah, it's like that on almost all Hondas with a screen and some Acuras too. The sporty Civic SI has a red screen if that helps :P

Pretty decent ride. Nice review as always Brian Cooley :D
A good and new form of cnet-car-Review! congrats!!

Yes.

Or use an iOS or Android mobile HDMI adapter
this is great urban ride and super on gas...getting 37mpg in town...fun to drive...zippy...CVT takes getting used to...but...economical ride!
Amazing car. Period.
If that interior was in the Honda Civic (europe) then I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Very nice :D
4:06 almost looks like a lowered CR-V haha
Top of the line here has projector headlamps, 1.5L engine 4wd cvt with paddle shift., but no moonroof. 190k yen maybe 17000 usd?

Will this FIT on my Honda?
Any one else thinks the rear looks like the new Volvo XC90?

Honda's new design language is...odd.
He just said that the previous gen looked better. This guys words are as good as trumps
+up97 While don't agree either with Cooley's sentiment that the previous gen is better looking, comparing him to Trump in any way is unfair and way over the line
ok fine you win
Super car
60 fps video?
I know my cooki is too tight… it is sinful. But I mustn’t du this!!!
in asia its called Jazz for no reason
theese reviews lack a conclusion
ericj305 Car TECH
drivers seat is uncomfortable unbearable
All Hondas are
the tech packages are a rip off . Buy after market you get better tech at a lower price. Also buy the standard transmission on the honda they make great standard transmissions.
Honda jazz here
$22,000 us ridiculously priced for an eco hatch
Base model is $15,000, but even that gets you cruise control, bluetooth, power windows and locks and backup camera
I agree it's expensive, but that's what they're going for these days! And Honda is always just a tiny bit pricier, but usually better quality, too. But damn, cars have gotten pricey. :(
godfatherNYC Name another car that is well equipped and under $22,000, you honestly can't.
WuWei Xu Why are you even directing that at me?
godfatherNYC Because you said it was expensive? Am I missing something here?
2015 Civic Wagovan
Hmmm Cooley!!
Nexus 5 (:
Ugh ! Still ugly. I don't like this design style, like the GM Trax.
i have Honda fit 2016 only 60000 miles battery gone starter gone never buy Honda fit again
That's not even bad though
