Wow!!!! this video is one of the main reasons I really enjoy your channel and you!! You are honest with the good, the bad and the ugly!! you share your struggles.... I am glad for you that you finished and felt very accomplished!!! well deserved!!! You had great determination!!. I have only given up on two puzzles,, one was mostly a black cat... the other is the Ceaco Mini and Mickey Halloween fun.. Kristy just completed it.on Discord..she gave me hope, maybeeeeeeeeeeeeeee one day I will try again... maybe I was just in the frame of mind to struggle.... to me this was the worst quality puzzle I ever bought, cheaper than a $ tree puzzle. very loose fit, crumbly, glossy etc etc.. I will never buy Ceaco again... I felt it was that bad......I moved on to a Ravensburger..... Yes now we have bright colorful Christmas colors to enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good luck with what ever you choose to do next.... see ya next week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you so much Kathy 🤗I am so that happy you enjoyed it! This puzzle and video took so much out of me, and I appreciate your words so much! Now on to more colorful images! We'll be rooting for you when you attempt that Mickey Halloween puzzle a second time. I'm sure the overall bad quality of Ceaco didn't help motivate you to go on with it. That can really take away from the whole experience. See you in the next one! 😁
If I glue a puzzle, I throw away the box. If I run into a puzzle the stops me cold, is really too difficult, I crumble it and give it away. For my difficult but doable puzzles, I flip them and divide them into 9 sections and mark each section with a deferent letter and crumble the sections separately and sometimes put the sections in separate zip locks before I put it back into the box. I puzzle for fun and if it's not fun, I might as well scrub the floor instead.
I know what you mean about rather scrubbing floors LOL. Sometimes, it's just not worth it. I think the only reason I would totally give up on a puzzle is if I didn't care much or connect with the image. I try to make sure if I undertake a really challenging looking image, that I really love the image and know that it'll be something worth displaying.
The haunting has ended. It’s like fighting a dragon🤣great job Mandy. I am proud of your tenacity and perseverance. You looked so relieved at the end. All dark pieces plus same shapes pieces equals, nightmare to me. Frame that beast of a puzzle. End the curse🤣Did you hear screams when you poured the glue on it?
Thank you so much! I'm so happy it's finally over, feels like a wait has been lifted off me 🤣 I'm trying to find a frame for it but this size is a hard one to find. I'm not sure if I want to pay $40+ for one LOL. But at least it has a ton of glue on it! I'm pretty sure there were screams when I poured the glue on, but I was blasting my Haunted Mansion ride music so loud to celebrate, so I couldn't hear the ghosts LOL.
@@Laura_Stanford For some reason, the edges of the puzzle curved up a bit, probably just from drying. But it won't lay completely flat on the wall. Maybe if weigh it down for a bit it'll straighten up.

Ugh, I know! My heart sank when I read the text message, then a few not very nice words came out of my mouth. I'm just glad the damage wasn't worst. I don't know what I would've done.
I did a puzzle called Space Cat and it was a nightmare. I hated it, but I finished it because I saw someone on FB had done it. I figured if they can do it so can I … but it was soooo difficult! The minute I put the very last piece in, I crumbled it up, got it back in the box and immediately drove it over to a donation shop near me. I’m not even exaggerating, I drove it there seconds after I finished it.
That's hilarious that you immediately got that puzzle out of your site 🤣 I'm sorry it was that bad for you, but glad you are able to say that you conquered it in the end. Now it's terrorizing someone else!
Wow, that image is gorgeous, well done for completing it again. For me, I have to enjoy a jigsaw. So if I’m not then it will go back in the box and given to charity or sold on as unchecked.
I think if this was just any other ordinary spooky image, I wouldn't have bothered with it. What really motivated me was the fact that I absolutely love Disney's Haunted Mansion ride. But I'm glad I never have to work on it again LOL.
Oh gosh, I gotta say, you had me laughing through much of the video. I felt bad for laughing at frustration since I've been there, and have one in particular I swear I'll go back and finish. The Heye puzzle "Road Trippin'". Your puzzle is a cool picture, but that the pieces are loose fitting made the whole thing extra sad! Congrats fellow puzzler, congrats😅
Thank you! And don't feel bad for laughing, I was laughing myself while editing 🤣 The big motivation for me was the fact that I absolutely love Disney's Haunted Mansion, but I knew what I was getting myself into in terms of quality. Disney branded puzzles are really not the greatest when it comes to the fit. Really, the best thing about them are the exclusive images. I looked up your "Road Trippin" puzzle...yea that's a lot of the same colors going on there...not fun 😓
Aaarrgh! That is one puzzle that I wouldn't touch with a barge pole. Well done for finally getting to the end of that marathon of a puzzle despite the accident that occurred to it.👏👏👏 If I am doing a puzzle that is just frustrating me it goes back in the box and I move on to another one. I did make one exception and that was with the Lego Minifigure Faces one as my daughter & her husband gave it to me for Christmas a couple of years ago. It took me seven days to get that done and I normally take two to three days to do a 1000 piece puzzle. I've just started a Falcon puzzle called Seaside Promenade. Look forward to your next video.
LOL, I don't blame you for not wanting to go near it. I was afraid to go home and see the damages, I didn't know what I'd do if it'd been worst. Thankfully, that motivated me to not let it go on another day. Happy to have it done and all glued up now 👌 Ooo, I know which Lego puzzle you're talking about. I've seen it a few times and I always stay away from it, as I don't think it'd be one I could manage. Great job in getting it done in seven days! I just looked up the puzzle you've started, it's beautiful 🤩 Good luck with it!
Nice! I just finished a Eurographics vincent van gogh i detested. It's in the giveaway pile with a warning note. I actually feel badly that someone might try it but some people like a bloody hard challenge. I have stacks of empty boxes in the garage. I use them as trays and gift boxes and storage containers and whatever!
I like that you put a warning note, very considerate 🤣. Us puzzlers gotta look out for each other. Those are some great ideas for the boxes, thank you!
You deserve a medal for completing this! All your hard work and tenacity paid off. I just finished a 1,000 piece puzzle involving about 150 pieces of indistinct ‘trees’ which had to be done piece-by-piece so I feel (part of) your struggles here. Great job!!
Thank you so much! It really was such a great feeling to finally finish this beast. But your puzzle sounds almost just as bad or worst than mine! Glad to hear you persevered and finished it too 👌That's awesome!
Thanks for showing the glueing process! It was pretty cool and your puzzle turned out beautifully. I always thought the glue went on the backside and was glued to something. (Which would have been a nightmare for such a loose fitting puzzle.)
You're welcome! I'm very happy the glue dried up nicely. I used to think the same in terms of gluing on the backside, until I actually read the directions. Definitely would make a nightmare situation for loose fitting puzzles. You just got to make sure you don't get glue spilling on your work surface.
I think this puzzle put a spell on you such that you would be haunted until you did it again. You did it and the spell has now been cast into the void ! Congratulations of piecing together an extremely difficult puzzle.
It certainly did haunt me for the whole year 🤣 I knew the only way to make it stop would be to finally put it back together again and glue it so that I'd never have to work on it again. Thankfully, I really love this image and the ride, so that at least gave me some encouragement to get it done. I think it's gonna look great on my wall!
So happy to see you pick up the Magic Puzzle Co!! I’ve only done Mystic Maze but I have that one, too. Unfortunately haven’t done a puzzle in awhile. I’ve fallen into the diamond art craze. But still love your videos, actually a neighbor of yours in several of those puzzles! Hope u enjoy that one though!
Ooo I've seen a lot about that diamond art, it looks interesting. The Magic Puzzle artwork is so cute, and I can't wait to start working on it. I just hope I follow along with everything that's involved and not just focus on piecing it together 😂
Hi, Mandy. I've actually just finished a puzzle with similar issues. It's of the 2 girls from The Shining. The pieces are the classic shapes and there's very little tonal difference in about half of the 1000 pieces. Also, part of it has "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy" wtitten on it over and over - often backwards. So, like the movie, the puzzle really messes with your head - in the good way. I did get to a point though with about 300 dark pieces left where I considered just putting it back in the box but persevered instead. Like you, I sorted by shape and any tonal differences. There were a few false fits though. Anyway, my bestie wants it to put up on her wall, which I'm very happy about as it was just going back in the box and I know I'd never do it again. Fortunately, puzzling is my number 2 hobby. I knit, so could just leave it and continue on with Christmas gift knitting when I felt like giving up.
Oh wow! It's like it's done on purpose with these horror. It's not so much just an image based on the horror story, but they want you to feel scared/terrified of what you're working on. Like you said, mess with your head. It really adds on to the whole experience. I'm happy to hear you persevered through it and that your friend wants to keep it. Your hard work will go on display! At least now you can take a good break from puzzling, you deserve it after finishing that beast. I had to take one myself after getting this one done, it took everything out of me LOL.
@thepuzzledmandy Hi again. Many thanks for the response. I'd love to hear on the podcast some time what you do when you're on a break from puzzling. I'm gagging to get started on a Christmas puzzle. Going to put my tree (and train set!) on top of it.
I can hardly believe you went back to that puzzle again. You did an awesome job. I have only ever taped one puzzle together and it hangs on the wall. It was a shutterfly photo puzzle of my great nephews. The box it came in is on a book shelf but it not your typical puzzle box shape more of a short tall rectangle. The image picture is on the box and that is why i kept it. I did return a puzzle to Goodwill where I purchased it. It was a Michael Storrings holiday puzzle with a snowy cityscape and a pink sky that was going to be the death of me. False fits all over the place. I spent a lot of time trying to get it together and not knowing if the puzzle was missing pieces I finally gave up. Mind you I love a good sky to put together.
I thought I was bananas when the idea came up in my head. To be honest, it's come up several times before, but I always just said " not yet". Then I was like, what better time than to work on it for Halloween, just like last year. I'm so glad it's over. I've heard of those shutterfly sets, what's the quality like? I think I know what Storrings image you're talking about. He has a number of them that look super challenging.
@thepuzzledmandy The shutterfly puzzle was a lot better then I thought it was going to be. The pieces were a little thinner but sturdy enough and have a paper backing. The fit was a little crumbly. The blown up image was really good. There is a lot of black background and a fair amount of skin and yet I never got too stuck that I wanted to quick. This was a gift but I would definitely welcome another. It was the 1014pc size.
I was thinking of using a magnifying glass if I was doing this and then I saw you use one, and thought, uh huh, secrets out hehehe I agree, stick with it. That sheer persistence and then having the completed project has such an awesome feeling. Put time factor aside and do what can and needs to be done. Congrats Mandy on a brilliant job. Well done 🙂
Thank you Ernie! I'm so happy I got through it in the end. Thankfully I really love the image, so that was great motivation for me. And geez, I used that magnifier so much the battery just about wasted LOL. Hope you're fully recovered and well, but I'm sure you're not too excited about going back to work (I wouldn't be 🤣)
@@thepuzzledmandy I can see why you glued it too...never seen that done before. Now that you have it in a see-thru stray jacket, it is never escaping again lol Sounds like you and the magnifying glass have a special relationship where it least waited to the very end and never gave up its flame for you lol.... I'm tired so my sick humour is coming out. Me is-eth betterer. Still on light duties yet can now carry a huge 5kg (11 pounds), woo hoo lol. Dr says I'll be off roster for 3-5 months....and as you said, I am in no hurry to go back to working my proper job. 🙂 Pls keep the videos coming.....need the inspiration to keep me going when I get off track 🙂
Nice work Mandy! My hardest puzzle was an art reproduction that was mostly just a blurr of one image blending into another, with large areas of similar textures and colors. That's when I learned about sorting by shape, since the image alone wasn't going to help me. But you just completed a puzzle where all pieces were mostly the same shape! That makes it 10 times harder!
It's such a great feeling when you've completed a puzzle that's a nightmare. I think sorting by shape in these situations is the best thing to do, especially when colors blend in together. It really helps your eyes/mind focus on individual pieces rather than a pile of scattered pieces that all blend into one blob. Plus I also find sorting a number of times throughout the completion process really helps your eyes/mind become more familiar with the pieces.
I agree. The quality doesn’t live up to the price, but to be honest a lot of merchandise from Disney is not that great in quality. It’s gone downhill over the years. As for the puzzles, your really just paying for the exclusive images, which get me every time😂
Great job Mandy! You slayed the beast! I knew you could do it and now that it's glued, you'll never have to do it again! 🎉😂 Great video! You give me hope for this Skeleton beast I'm still working on! 😅🧩🧩
I did a butterfly sorta-gradient puzzle and it took me forever. I would work on it and it felt like I wasn't making much progress. So I would walk away. I even started a new puzzle in the middle because I just wanted something I could finish quickly. I eventually finished it, but will probably never do it again.
Congratulations! You Ma'am, are a braver soul than I! I'd never even attempt a pretty much all black puzzle. When I did the puzzle of my cat, over half of it was solid black (background), and solid white (cat). At first I debated whether I'd take it apart so I could do it again, or glue it. It was a pain in the butt and only half the pieces as you just did. I had to sort by shape too, and try one piece at a time. That sucker is glued! I always throw my boxes away. I still have the one for the custom, but I don't know why I'm saving it. I guess because it's my cat, lol.
I'm happy to hear you glued that puzzle! I think I'm going to only glue puzzles that are major accomplishments for me. I still have my first 1500 count puzzle wrapped up in a puzzle mat, and I plan to glue it as soon as I pick some more up (I nearly used it all for the Haunted Mansion 🤣) I've decided I will keep my box for this set since it's really a commemorative piece. It'll just sit catching dust on my shelf, but that's ok.
@@thepuzzledmandy Maybe put a note inside with the date you conquered it, and your thoughts about it. 30 years from now, you'll pick up that dusty box and be transported right back to the misery of 2023. 😂😂
Good for you. If I was in love with the image I would have stayed with an image like that but I don’t think I would ever choose a puzzle without it being colorful. But I admire you for doing this puzzle I would put this puzzle in the expert level. I have done some hard puzzle but something like this one is very scary to me. As for the boxs I use them as a place to put my puzzle pieces after I sort them but I use mainly springbok 1000 piece puzzle boxes I even have several puzzles not in there boxes because I am using them. The good thing about box lids I can move them some wher else depending what color or section of the puzzle I am doing. Also when sorting trays can get overflowing so put them in a box. It’s been fun seeing you on instagram. Looking forward to your next puzzle. It will be soon be time to get our Christmas puzzles out. I will probably do it soon I have so many.
If this was any other horror like puzzle, I wouldn't have bothered getting it. The colors are so dark. But considering it was from my absolute favorite ride, I just had to give it a shot. This puzzle is definitely not for the faint at heart, you gotta really love puzzles and Disney's Haunted Mansion. That was my motivation. That's a great use for the extra boxes. Sometimes my trays overflow, so that's a big help. I'm looking forward to getting some Christmas sets out too!
Great job on powering through this one again. Don’t know how you did it again with all those dark pieces. I once took a year to finish an impossible puzzle that was an image of spaghetti. A friend’s mom gave it to me as a challenge to complete it as she couldn’t. It was very discouraging at first as all the pieces looked the same and had only two shapes. When I would spend hours on it and only get one piece in, I packed it away for months and worked on other fun puzzles. I took it out a year later and somehow managed to finish it within a week or two. Never doing that type of puzzle again!
I still have moments of disbelief that I've actually completed it again 🤣 I keep having to look at it to make sure it was all real LOL. But I can't imagine having to work on a spaghetti puzzle image. I do love to eat spaghetti, but I don't think that would be enough motivation for me to finish something like that LOL. Thankfully in the end, you were able to say that you actually completed it, that's a great accomplishment!
Thank you! I'm so happy it's finally over. For my music, I listen to a ton of UA-cam channels by searching for anything specific with Disney. For example, you can search for "Disney resort music", "Magic Kingdom music", "Haunted Mansion ride music". It'll also give you listing for ambiance music for whatever you' searched for. UA-cam literally has everything, it's fantastic. I would post links here, but UA-cam likes to delete posts with links in them, I don't know why.
Yes! I'm sooo happy it's finally over! Now I have this beautiful image to hang up on my wall so that I can stare at it and remember how horrid it was to put together LOL. I feel very accomplished 👌
I'm still at it since I returned to France last May, and at times, I feel frustrated, I tell myself that I'll never finish it, so sometimes I assemble pieces that fit together and when I want to finish a piece and well this is not going to work, I really hope to finish it with all my heart.
Oh wow, I'm rooting for you! Have you tried resorting it by shape and color tones? I know it feels impossible at times, but you can do it. Try to work in the natural light, I found that best for me. How far along are you?
I would have no fun at all doing this puzzle 😫 its CRUMBLY on top of everything else!?!? I would 100% rage quit. We have rage quit a 500 piece with a good hold because of the false fits when we were like 90% done, the sky at a certain area is all one color and we just got tired of it 😂 (luckily it was thrifted and not an image we cared all that much about!!) My Hanukkah Cookies puzzle (Cobble Hill brand) was a BEAST and everyone said I was insane for making that my first 1000 piece puzzle. It literally took all 8 days of Hanukkah to complete. But compared to Haunted Mansion it looks like a cakewalk (well... more like a cookiewalk!) And it was also a little crumbly but it held together well enough to pass the pick up test when it was done. And the pieces are good quality, not flimsy at all, and feel nice to touch. Passion about the image is definitely the most important thing in a puzzle for me! Except for vintage Springbok puzzles... I'll do literally any of those 😂 I've only taped exactly 4 puzzles and they were all from Dollar Tree so I used the boxes as kindling 😂
Oh trust me, I wanted to rage quit several times LOL. But yes, passion about the image is pretty important to me as well. That really was the only motivation I had to finish it. Using the boxes as kindling is a great way to get rid of them, you used it for something right 😂
Sometimes I just pick a spot and try every piece until I find the right one. I sort by shape, so I hate puzzles like that one you did which had all pieces the same basic shape.
I must admit, when I'm desperate I just start smashing every piece in till it fits 🤣 That's usually my last resort. Sorting this one by shape only really helped me know which whole group of pieces to ignore. But again, it was difficult with this one as two of the main shapes looked pretty much the same. *sigh* I'm so glad this is over LOL.
Really cool, Mandy, glad to see it finished for the second time and the relief at the end! One can definitely tell you are excited about having it glued up and safe this time. I'm still trying to figure out how you managed to sort the pieces - they all look the same 😂 you could sell the box maybe? who knows there may be someone who needs it? I recently bought a puzzle box on Amazon for an older puzzle that I really like and the box was damaged. 🧩👏 happy Halloween!
It was a nightmare from beginning to end, even the editing, but thankfully it's all past me now. I keep toying with the idea of selling it, but then again I feel like I should keep it as a collector piece. I can't make up my mind LOL.
Well done! Gosh that was hard.
It sure was. And I'm happy to say that it is now framed and hanging up in my room. Such a big accomplishment for me 😁

Now that you have it in a see-thru stray jacket, it is never escaping again lol
Sounds like you and the magnifying glass have a special relationship where it least waited to the very end and never gave up its flame for you lol....
Pls keep the videos coming.....need the inspiration to keep me going when I get off track 🙂
Good for you! I love Disney, but I can’t deal with the quality of their puzzles. It would have to be a really amazing one to make me buy another one!
And Happy Halloween!! 🎃👻🧩
Thank you!
I knew you'd get that skeleton puzzle done, I knew you had Beast Mode within you all along 👌
Happy Halloween!
I did a butterfly sorta-gradient puzzle and it took me forever. I would work on it and it felt like I wasn't making much progress. So I would walk away. I even started a new puzzle in the middle because I just wanted something I could finish quickly. I eventually finished it, but will probably never do it again.
Glad you persevered through it! It’s tough, but once it’s all done the feeling of accomplishment is great.
@@pannalover326 That's an interesting idea!
Great job! I could not have done it. lol. Also, could you tell me what app/channel you turn on your tv to when you listen to music?
Thanks!
Yayyy!!!!🎉🎉🎉 You did it!
😊🧩😊
Yes! I'm sooo happy it's finally over! Now I have this beautiful image to hang up on my wall so that I can stare at it and remember how horrid it was to put together LOL. I feel very accomplished 👌
I keep them thay come in handy to out bits in or to use as puzzle tray
I don't know why I never thought of using the boxes as puzzle trays 🤣It's a great idea!
What’s the brand name of your magnifying glass/lens?
In Amazon, it's listed as Ceaco-The Puzzle Scoop.
We have rage quit a 500 piece with a good hold because of the false fits when we were like 90% done, the sky at a certain area is all one color and we just got tired of it 😂 (luckily it was thrifted and not an image we cared all that much about!!)
My Hanukkah Cookies puzzle (Cobble Hill brand) was a BEAST and everyone said I was insane for making that my first 1000 piece puzzle.
I'll do literally any of those 😂
I've only taped exactly 4 puzzles and they were all from Dollar Tree so I used the boxes as kindling 😂
Oh trust me, I wanted to rage quit several times LOL. But yes, passion about the image is pretty important to me as well. That really was the only motivation I had to finish it.
Using the boxes as kindling is a great way to get rid of them, you used it for something right 😂
I save the real hard solid boxes for sorting for my bigger count puzzles❤❤
Recycle bits n peices or springbok caeco boxes.
That's a great way to reuse boxes, thank you for the tip!
*sigh* I'm so glad this is over LOL.
i had one it was all the same shape and yes it done my hade in lol but i did it
It feels great when you accomplish something like that. Happy to hear you conquered your challenge!
good job thers no way i would of done it
Thank you! I'm so happy it's over and done with.
The most awful puzzle I ever see 😂😂
🤣It truly was a nightmare. But as hard and awful it was to put together, the completed image looks amazing.
👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you!!!
