  • Draw the Seed of Life: Start by drawing a circle. Then, using a compass, divide this circle into six equal parts. To do this, place the compass point on the edge of the circle and draw arcs from the edge of the circle to intersect the circumference, creating six points around the circle.
Connect the Centers: Next, draw straight lines to connect the centers of these six points inside the circle. This will create a six-fold symmetry pattern resembling a six-petal flower or hexagon inside the circle.
Create the Seed of Life: Now, draw six more circles, each centered on the intersections of the first circle's circumference with the straight lines you just drew. Each new circle should be the same size as the original circle and intersect with its neighbors, creating a pattern resembling a flower with six petals.
Expand the Design: To create a mandala, continue this process of adding circles and intersecting them until you have a design that fills the space harmoniously. The Seed of Life pattern is often used as the basis for more intricate mandalas, so you can extend the circles outward and add more layers to your liking.
Add Details: Once you have the basic pattern established, you can add more intricate details such as additional shapes, patterns, or symbols inside each circle or in the spaces between them. This is where your creativity can really shine, as mandalas are often personalized with symbols or patterns that hold personal meaning
