Being able to upgrade these iMacs to a possible 16TB with how gigantic SATA SSDs are getting shows the true power of Intel upgradability. And that doesn't even consider that you can put in an 8TB NVME SSD with an adapter Side note, but these can also go up to an i9-9900 and 64GB of RAM, so all you really need is to find one on eBay with a Vega 20, and then you can just upgrade the rest of the parts yourself! And you can go even further with an eGPU thanks to TB3. Smokes the M4 iMac by miles.
The fan and speakers need to be removed so there's access to the audio wires attached to the SATA cable. They both need to be unscrewed so the tape can be removed to free the SATA cable for replacing the drive. Thanks for the good question!
It could be long enough but for a more secure install to avoid any damage we would strongly recommend the speaker and fan to be removed during the install.
Yes it is. I find the SATA cable barely moves when I disconnect the drive. Removing three pieces just so I can unplug the drive increases the risk of injury to one or more of those other pieces.
im looking at this video and at first I thought he must be replacing RAM surely the sata drive could be easily removed after 4 holding screws are removed ???
While it is not necessary to split the Fusion drive, it can help provide a smoother transition if you do so prior to removing the drive, as then the computer will see 2 separate drives instead of wondering where one of the volumes went.
@@poweredbyowc Do you have any links on how to split the Fusion Drive, this alone is a major stumbling block for people like me otherwise IF it was just a straight HDD to SSD and PCIe SSD swap I would have replaced them a long time ago.
The iMac 19,2 should not require a thermal sensor when upgrading to an SSD. If further assistance is needed, please feel free to reach out to our support team!

Isn't the replacement possible without removing the speakers and the fan?

@@poweredbyowc But doesn't the SABA cable have enough slack for us to remove the drive without damaging the cable?

That's correct-the SSD in the 2019 21.5" iMac is much easier to replace than the RAM.
Is it necessary to split the Fusion Drive before removing the HDD? I've found little to no info on this.

Can ssd that came with the iMac 21.5 be upgraded in 2019 model?
Yeap
would it be the same for the 2020 model?
Regrettably, the internal drive on the 2020 iMacs are not removable.
Does this imac (2019) 19,2 SSD upgrade require a thermal sensor? It is not mentioned in this video.

it's an 4k imac?
Faiz Khan you are correct the 2019 21.5" iMac is a 4K machine.
This model support NVMe?
If your iMac 21.5" already come with a fusion drive already yes, if it does not then regrettably not.
