    Love it, we have had a98 jdm import 2tz-fe (non supercharged petrol engine) 4wd auto for about 4 years now as the daily car. Its absolutely fantastic compared to equivalent euro mpv's (live in the UK) and for the price I paid (450gbp) its fantastic. I'm looking to upgrade to a mk3 estima hybrid soon. (an idea for another video?)
    Iv recently acquired a 93 diesel for free that is having a turbo k24 Honda engine swap, it going where the 3rd row of seats are and should be crazy fast once finished. I will be making a few videos of the conversion and posting them on my channel at some point

      Those can be found readily online, especially if you're looking at the gas engines which were available in the US Previas. Easiest way to do this is to find the part number then search for it online. Good luck and contact me if you're still in the market for one!

    Im considering buying my coworkers Estima for my mail route. The only thing I'm worried about is getting parts for it in Wisconsin. Anyone have any idea if parts are hard to get in the US? Seems like nowadays especially could be a problem... Seem like sweet vans though

    • @MyRetroVans
      @MyRetroVans  2 роки тому +2

      Most parts for the estima are available, but it may take time for shipping if you get them from overseas. I've recently exported a few gas engine ones which share the same engine (2TZ-FZE) as the US sold Previa. This makes parts sourcing easier, though you lose the gas mileage benefit.

    I actually just bought a 1993 3C-te powered estima. It unfortunately sprung an oil leak a couple days after buying it. Engine was fine for the 300 mile drive home, and had no oil leaking after the drive. The next day I ran some errands and it was still fine. Went to go title/register it and the oil level light came on. Found a leak. Looks like it’s coming from the valve cover gasket but there’s oil all over the bottom of the engine now. I’m more worried that it’s the oil pump seal/gasket because that’s out of my wheelhouse and going to cost a lot to have a mechanic fix/replace.

    • @MyRetroVans
      @MyRetroVans  2 роки тому

      What sort of maintenance was done beforehand? For instance, has the timing belt, thermostat, water pump been newly replaced? Along with those comes relevant gaskets, filters, seals, etc. An oil leak immediately after purchase could reflect a poor seller/mechanic rather than poor vehicle.

    • @Ammosexual69
      @Ammosexual69 2 роки тому

      @@MyRetroVans according to the seller, he bought it, realized it wasn’t big enough for his needs, and let it sit for 6 months. The only thing he has reported changing was the timing belt/oil/oil filter.
      Oddly enough the leak has stopped and the light has gone off. I’ve never seen an oil leak magically stop like this before. I’m pretty sure it’s coming from the valve cover gasket, that’s where most of the oil looks like it’s coming from.
      Im going to buy a gasket/seal kit and have everything replaced soon. Im also going to have the oil pump replaced. Luckily, my local Toyota dealership here in Texas actually stocks oil filters and a few other odds/ends for this vehicle.

    • @Ammosexual69
      @Ammosexual69 2 роки тому

      @@MyRetroVans I’m sure they didn’t do all that much to it. They bought it, realized it was too small and sold it at a loss. I’ve been driving it around for the past couple of days no with no leaks or any issues whatsoever. I wonder if it’s possible that the lack of use caused the seals to construct from the lack of heat/lubrication. It hasn’t leaked a drop. I’m taking it in to the dealership I deliver parts for and having their import guy look at it just to be safe.
      Either way I’m in love with this van. Super fun to drive.
