That show was of its time. 23 year old Steve Martin, 25 year old Einstein,( his brother is Albert Brooks, ) 21 year old Rob Reiner and 30 year old Mason Williams. Fingers firmly on the pulse of the counterculture audience that tuned in weekly.
I’m embarrassed that I didn’t know more about this guy before he died. All I knew was super Dave. There was so much more than that. He was a comedy genius!
I'd never seen Bob Einstein off-the-cuff before, a straight interview. As it was going I was thinking "Is he doing a bit here? Is he inventing a fictional Bob Einstein as... _the real Bob Einstein_ ...?
@Baci302 Bob Einstein was born in 1942; Albert was born in 1947. They also had an older brother, Cliff Einstein. FYI their dad was a famous comic. He was known professionally as Harry Parke. Parkyakarkas was a name of one of the characters he created. Bob and Albert come by “it” honestly. It's in the blood.
Super-Dave Osborne, with that signature "glare at the audience" when they laugh at something ridiculous he said. Nobody ever did it that well, before or since.

The first time I watched Curb Your Enthusiasm with my 20-something kids, I see Bob Einstein playing Marty Funkhouser and I blurt out, "Hey...it's Officer Judy!!" Kids: "Who the fuck is Officer Judy?" Me: "He's Albert Brooks' brother." Kids: "Who the fuck is Albert Brooks?" Me: You know..."Lost in America, Defending Your Life...The guy who played Paul Rudd's deadbeat dad in "This Is 40?" Son: "I think he does some voices on The Simpsons." It sucks sometimes being 40 years older than your kids. So sad that Bob is gone. I loved that guy!
"That boy ain't right.." but seriously you sound like a fun dad, enjoy your kids, even when their bein pain in the asses. lol i never got to watch curb with my dad, but i always think he'd enjoy the show alot

legend. one of the highest batting averages of any comedian. so brilliant
My dad loved Super Dave. Hearing his jokes reminds me of my dad’s deadpan dark humor. It was a sad day when SD passed away.
I’m glad I have this opportunity to thank this comedic genius for his accomplishments. Thank you for sharing your capabilities
The Smothers Brothers (AND THEIR GREAT STAFF) had the VERY BEST TAKE ON '60s POLITICS!
Knowing now that he's Albert's brother you can see and hear the resemblance. I love them both. RIP Bob aka Super Dave aka The Funkman.

SUPER DAVE CAN'T DIE! SUPER DAVE FOREVER!!!
This is amazing seeing him be this personable in an interview. I didn't know that he ever let that happen. :O

Bob Einstein was awesome, a genius. Ahead of his time. Very funny.

My Dad and I loved the "Smothers Brothers Show"...they were funny and HONEST, thanks to GREAT writers like Bob Einstien and Steve Martin!
Great insight into the making of the show
I always thought Officer Judy was Super Dave Osborne.
RIP :-(
I think I now understand why he was so good at playing Marty. His humor is totally aligned with LDs
What humour is that?
You will always be Super!
RIP Super Dave
God he was hot🔥🔥🔥 even in his 70s i loved him
Bob Einstein, may have been made more famous for Super Dave Osborne cult classic television show, was a comedic genius move
Comedic geniuses like this don't exist anymore
Listen to Bob on the Gilbert Gottfried podcast. Very, very funny.
Super Dave FOREVER !! 🌷🍀
Go back and watch super Dave singing on top of the bus, comic gold
Why so rare to see him as himself? I prefer his authenticity to comedy
I just learned that Bob's brother is Albert Brooks. WTF?!
And Albert Brooks's birth name was Albert Einstein!
I know, right? Incredible.
And their father was a grest comedian too!!

So that hoarse Super Dave voice is phony? Or at least exaggerated like crazy?
Truth isn’t funny.
Why is it almost never mentioned anywhere that Bob “Super Dave” Einstein was the brother of Albert Brooks? Two of my favorite funny guys. 👍✌️
