Love the first episode! Fun, fresh, and hilarious!!!!! ❤️ great format without making IOT complicated for the beginner users. Can’t wait for the next epi!!!!! 🔥💯👍🏽
Wow Justin! Excellent production quality! 👏 I’m also a Alexa and Philips Hue user, so it will be cool to follow the series and see what cool ideas you come up with!
Justin, this was awesome! I’m interested to learn more about the Axis gear in future videos! I’m moving into a new apartment with floor to ceiling windows, so would love to be able to use that to control my blinds! Also have a Fire TV and Amazon Echo so if I could link all of those together that would be amazing.
Great video, if not a bit intimidating. How about for the "grandpas" in the group that don't have the option of wiring the entire house, a plan to start simply and slowly? For example, use only your phone with either Amazon or Google to get started. What would you recommend between the two and what accessories to start with. Cheers, S
All sounds good. I use the Alexa app, but it is frustratingly slow. Yours worked very fast in you r video. Is there a secret to the performance you have?
@@Justin_tech I have a great internet, as well. I think it just not a great app or they are trying to do too much with it. To me it is so I Amazon like.
Excuse me, excuse me ma'am; I thought we had agreed to speedo attire as demonstrated by the merman on the series promotional video? ALSO - FIRST COMMENT!!
Question, is there really a need for Samsung Smartthings? I had one and I could not get it to play nice with my system. The Samsung tech guy even told me to return it. Can't you use Google Assistant to do everything?
There are many reasons we went with smartthings which I’ll explain further in the next episode and beyond. To put it briefly, there are many smart home devices that only work through smartthings (Axis blinds, Samsung TVs, Konnected smart security system, etc). In order for us to work these into our routines, we need smartthings to one time to them and Alexa or google assistant.
Most importantly was our smart home command center powered by Action Tiles which feeds directly off of Smartthings’ APIs (exciting and in the next episode)
The SmartThings hub controls everything in our home. Every device is connected to it. It’s our main brain. Then there’s Alexa who can detect all devices, included ones on Smartthings. Many of our devices won’t connect directly to Alexa, we need to brain (Smartthings) to be the main hub that Alexa speaks to. Alexa is our AI. Artificial intelligence learns from you. Alexa can learn as you use it, the Smartthings hub cannot.
Great video ! Just brought my first house and ready to start making it a smart Home. Trying to decide on Philips or Lifx bulbs. Looking forward to your other videos!
@@Justin_tech I use google too, but it'd easyer to use mostly one. Course I'd get use to use 2-3 not a problem but It'd be nice to watch a full comparation.
Hi. I like youre videos. Those give me ideas. But... I am a android user. Using a iPhone is for me NOT an option. Then i am a PC gamer as well. 90% of the time i play Battlefield 4. And to my computer i have Keybord, Mouse, mousepad and a few more things with RGB from Razer. And HUE and Razer together is amazing. I even have the hue app for PC that sync the lights with what is on the screen. I think those 2 things will boost the HUE lights to another level. AT the moment i just have 7 Philips Hue E27 1100 lumen color lights. But i hope i will be able to get 4 GU10 color sports for another idea i have. But those ideas will be keept with me untill i make my own video what i think is the best setup for someone like me in a smaller appartment.
Smartthings will be discontinued its a dying platform, if you were truly doing an "ultimate" smart home you should have went with HomeBridge and/or Home Assistant. Me personally I am HomeKit with HomeBridge to bring in my none HomeKit devices. But I am glad to see that you wired the house with ethernet in all the rooms, I am a big proponent of wire everything when possible. My Sprinkler System is wired through ethernet if that tells you how I have my smart house setup
I definitely want to try those out as we continue. It’s the ultimate smart home SERIES that’s ever evolving. I created this to show off all the cool platforms available and for our setup we’re using SmartThings because it seamlessly ties everything together. I’ll check out HomeBridge and perhaps we’ll try it out for phase 2 of the smart home. We chose Smartthings so we could use ActionTiles control panel which I show off in tomorrow’s episode. Thanks for the feedback! I want to continue to grow and learn :)
Justin_tech I’m in the search of an action tile like control panel for HomeKit as well. I know Aqara is coming out with a touch panel and brilliant has a light switch touch panel that is really cool. Maybe you can look at the brilliant control panel for round two of the house. A lot of people are still using smart things but I hate to see Samsung cut the support and have a lot of people trying to switch over to something else like. Wink users are now switching over granted they are just charging to use there device now.
Consider me shooked! The production value of this and the little bits of campiness in this is freaking amazing!
That makes me happy! :) much more of all that coming your way this Thursday and beyond! 🤓😊
Loving this! Can’t wait for the following episodes. Mr. Tech is my kinda guy.
This is A-MAZE-ING! You have upped the game big time, the house down boots!
Amazing video! And very timely for us!!

Dope video. Looking forward to checking out the rest of this series and the other things on your channel.

Hey David! So glad you enjoyed it :) I'll go into further detail on linking Alexas in episode 3 and the Axis Gear in episode 5. Stay tuned!
Mr. Tech looks like he was getting hot around the equipment, he should undo his shirt a bit.lol

How come no one talks about how handsome Justin is 😍😍
🙃

We have pretty great internet, but I know what you mean. Occasionally I’ll close the app entirely and it runs smoother.

Great series Justin! Which Samsung QLED TV in the video you are using?
Whoops my response got deleted! Link in description!

Wowwww sorry for the late response! Here you go: amzn.to/2FvimrF
Hello, does the RA2 hub works with casita switches?
I don’t believe so. They are two different systems

Hi Justin, if you consider Alexa to be the "AI" in the house, but you consider your Smart Things hub to be the "Brain", what's the difference? Thanks!

I have hue and one of the hue taps and I really love it because my WiFi is super unstable, so I like how I can control it even when the WiFi goes down
What about Bixby for head AI?
Make a video for it, or a comparative video about AI-s.
That’s a great idea! I was already planning an Alexa vs google home type video, but would be cool to compare all of them. Are you a Bixby user?

Hahahah I see what you did there! And I’m glad someone caught on. Was waiting for this 🦶

I don’t think your friend Max’s glasses had lenses.
Let me put on my glasses.....my goodness, you are correct!
This is camp
I'm sure you are a great person but the "acting silly" is so distracting I can't stand to watch these videos. It's not cute at all.
