You should explain your setup and the beginning to the viewers so they know each component!! Even thru the IPhone the quality sounds very nice!!! The Mille legends are quite smooth and punchy speakers, yes they are pricey, but most don’t pay $1200 + for the 2 ways... The XL sounds louder due to distortion in the driver design at louder levels. Wow adding the Audiofrog GB25 to your setup would be crazy!!! The ml280 is special, I agree, can’t wait to hear my GB15 😎 Enjoy the new system brother ✅
H O IR i IZ O N awesome bro! Sound Deadening can make a huge difference especially using quality Sound deadener. I used some cheap stuff before and will never use it again. Only Second Skin/ Dynamat/ maybe Sound Skins the rest is crap.. Have heard ppl like the sky high and knukonceptz deadener as well I haven’t tried either tho. System sounds awesome bro

Definitely a nice setup, own a pair myself. I’ll probably get another pair of the ml 1650 to put in the doors for some extra mid bass punch, then get a dsp and a second amp so I’ll get one channel per speaker for plenty of clean power :)

I’d love to get the ml700 for a three way setup in my own car, but unfortunately I don’t think the midrange speaker will fit nicely in my doors without totally rebuilding the whole door panels. So I personally would probably just go with an extra pair of ml1650 :)

H O IR i IZ O N That's interesting what you say about the Flio X5iii. I was looking for something to play high quality music as Apple Music is ok but not really high end quality. I'll be adding the Audison Bit Ten d DSP to my system and hope that with having it properly tuned it'll sound really good with the Hertz Mille Legends. Well that's the plan anyway 😄
H O IR i IZ O N How do you know which are the original mille legends? What year were they released?
I had some Mille Legends powered by a JL Audio A2150 amp installed in a Suburban a few years ago, which sounded AMAZING. But I had to downsize to a Camry, which I got a set of Mille coaxials for, which I also powered with the A2150. Not as good as the Mille Legends, but still good.
But now I got a new Camry, in which I installed the Mille Legends, but this time I’m powering them with an Audison Prima AP4.9 bit without the Mille crossovers, and am instead using the Audison’s active crossover. And I am quite disappointed with the sound. In fact they don’t sound a whole lot better than my Mille coaxials powered by the JL amp, which cost $1000 less.
Could this be because the Audison amp just isn’t as good as the JL (it is Class D while the JL is Class A/B), and/or the active crossover in the Audison amp isn’t as good as the Mille’s passive crossover?
You need a DSP tuned properly to have your system sound right
Would you run this legend set up or would you choose the pro 3 way set up?
Been waiting so long for a vid like this, thanks so much man. You mentioned how you tried every Hertz speaker in your car. What did you think of the Mille Pro line ? A few grand will be going into my system for the 3 way Pros, 2 Mille Power 4 amps, 1 H8 Dsp, one 12" Mille Pro sub (and of course sound deadening). I just want to be sure whether the Mille Pro line i'm going for is a good investment. Otherwise I could ditch the 3 way pros and go for a 2 way Mille Legend set.

I apologize for not being a bit more specific in my previous comment, I will be installing this in an 09 Nissan Altima that has a Pioneer AVH- 4200 NEX. The music is on my Galaxy S6 then played through the head unit via USB audio (so the head unit bypasses my phone's internal DAC and amp and uses its own). The original plan was to have the 6.5's in the doors, the Mp 70.3 in the factory dash location and the Mp 25.3 in my "A Pillar". The sub that was recommended to me was the Hertz MP 300 D2.3 PRO. The crossover point for the sub was going to be set to 80hz. The price for the system was going to be in the region of about 3.7 grand. Tbh I've been asking myself why not go for at least a 2 way Mille Legend system if I'm going to be spending that kind of cash? Per your advice I contacted my local audio shop asking about the legends and although he did say the Mille Legends were the better speaker he felt as if going for a 3 way with a lesser speaker like the Mille Pro would be a better option for me since I'm asking less of each speaker along with less phasing issues as a whole by choosing a 3 way over a 2. That then begged the question of making the upgrade to the Mille Legend 3 way which he offered to me for a nice price. So, it does appear that I'll be getting the legend 3 way, I feel much more confident in that setup. Thanks so much for the advice!
Best of luck with the setup! I'm certainly looking forward to posting a vid of mine when it's finished, for the time being I'll also be saving up a bit more cash. The audio hobby gets expensive but is totally worth the pleasure you experience from the music.
I'd personally go for a high energy sub, as they have the same specs.

Thanks, it’s better now as I added an Audioquest Cinnamon coaxial digital audio cord. Mosconi AS100.4, AS200.2,AS300.2 Helix DSP Ultra, Audio Frog GB60, GB10’s and GS62’s. Helix Q10W’s, Fiio M11. Oh never mind lol this was my new system. My old system was all Hertz Mille with the Hertz HDP amps. I really liked the Hertz ML280 tweeters

Just a 2-way Mille Legends with the Fiio x5iii back then.

Honestly it’s the DAP I used back then it was a Fiiio X5iii, totally changed how my system sounded

@@CarAudioHorizons I use a hdp4 on a deh80prs....the headunit crossover decided to play up and my ml 280 tweets started cutting out, the amp detected the issues lol, so as a safety thought i turned on the amps crossovers and the problem went away :)
Update: the crossovers were not the issue, turned out the amp was cutting out due to a bad connection!
I have an Audison 6 channel VRX series but never installed it. I prefer Modcini which I have now over both. I also like the Zapco AP amps but hertz were decent for what they do

Sucks hertz does not make a ML 3 way that includes the ML700.3 with a 3 way crossover.
Hertz says that the ML 280.3 from ML 1650.3 Legend and the ML 28.3 from the MLK 165.3 Legend are basically the same tweeter and technology except the aluminium housing. How do you like the MLK 165.3 Legends?
There should be significant differences in the tweeter sounding.
I'm trying to decide which model to buy, therefore will value your opinion.

@@Tunehead99 I wouldn't advise using mixed speakers on passive crossovers as the cutoffs will likely be mis-matched.

This is an old system and was passive using the 1650.3 crossovers. No DSP in this system. I had my amp crossed at 80hz.
My new system I’m using a Helix DSP Ultra and crossed my Audio Frog GB60’s at 80hz as well.
@@CarAudioHorizons so your mid woofer back then was playing from 80 and going up right?Because mine is cut in the 120 and i feel the sound a bit empty..its playing more like a midrange without the woofer frequencies....and the tweeters my friend where did you cut them?in frequencies?
@@giopap512 I never ran my amplifier active as I mentioned above I was using passive crossovers on this system.

I run the 3 way semi active and upgraded from the 1650s to 1800 . Def worth it if you have the power . They blend perfect with my w7 12 in a sealed box
