- Dr. Roy Casagranda starts by laying out the backgrounds for the primary actors: the Arabs, the Romans, the Seljuks, the Pope of Rome, and the Normans. He proposes that there were three proto-Crusades: The Norman invasion of Sicily in 1061, the Siege of Barbastro by the Norman commander Guillaume de Montreuil of French, Burgundian, Catalan, Aragonese, and Norman soldiers in 1064, and Roussel de Bailleul's Norman principality of Galatia (1073-77). Finally, he starts the Crusades and gets to 1108.

One of, if not the greatest lecturer I’ve ever listened to. It’s wild I got to learn from him at Austin Community College and now here he is, blowing up online. He deserves it.

@@slowmotion3542 Repentance is the way provided for us to become free from our sins and receive forgiveness for them (WE ARE NOT FORGIVEN UNLESS WE REPENT). Sins slow our spiritual progression and ultimately stop it. Repentance makes it possible for us to grow and develop spiritually again.
The bare minimum that God requires is to live a repentant life. The privilege of repenting is made possible through the Atonement of Jesus Christ/ So both Belief in Jesus as God and Repentance are needed. See 1 Corinthians 6:9
Luke 24:47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

Look ill share something personal. I’ve personally seen Jesus (Not worthy), Heaven and Hell. Hell is worse than what you think (I was shaking after that experience), and Heaven is better than what you think. I have also received a personal healing miracle, I can go into details if you want. This is how God works. If you give Him the benefit of the doubt, He gives you more and more. Would I spend even 2 minutes preaching if I had an ounce of doubt? (I’ve experienced way too much)

People often say, “I’m not hurting anyone so it’s ok to sin (lying, stealing, sexual sins, disrespecting parents etc)” The same God who said to love your neighbour first said to love Him to the best of your ability. If you carry on sinning, then you do not love God but are selfish like the devil so you will be joined to your father in hell or repent of your sins and believe in Jesus as God so Jesus adopts you as His child and you will join Him in Heaven forever.

@@irvinaduda9527 I have some underlying health issues which can lead to premature death, so I heard about fasting can help fix many issues so I decided to give it a go by dry fasting (no food or water) I could only do it for 1-2 days a week without feeling too weak, but a few months in my heart started racing and it let weaker and weaker. When I would eat something unhealthy it would race hard.
One night it was racing hard and a tall figure in white appeared and was praying towards the picture of Jesus in my room, he said something like “please don’t let him die from a heart attack”, then soon after he disappeared and I heard the audible voice of God tell me some stuff then that voice stopped then I felt my body being lifted and life being pumped back into my heart and I was healed thank God, Jesus is God and He is very loving and a miracle worker.
Love the way Roy Casagranda explain the history, I have an engineering degree , never in my wildest dream I ever thought, that I would be interested in history. Fascinating 2 hrs. pass by, worth it.
Oh hey Roy, I bought The Crusades through Arab Eyes by Amin Maalouf. I mean move over LoTR, GoT! The book is an absolute barnstormer and fascinating and I feel like I am learning an entirely new history but completely relevant and the parallels with what is happening in Jerusalem today! Well that's a romantic view, i'm not familiar with arab/muslim views of their history but i would venture to say that it also has romantic elements to it. For example I would think that the conquering of Byzantium is hailed as a great achievement by islam but I think that's also wrong. It did wipe out a civilization after all.

@@choncord Because without a sacrifice there is no forgiveness of sins. God is just and all sin must be punished, so He sent His only begotten So. Now those who repent and Believe in Jesus will have their sins forgiven and Heaven is in their future

JESUS IS PROPHET OR GOD?
People see miracles, signs and wonders and assumed Jesus to be simply a prophet. People assume things all the time, but they can be wrong. If someone sees you hang out with smokers and assumes you smoke and tells everyone, yet you don’t smoke. People get things wrong all the time but being wrong on Jesus divinity is a BIG mistake that shouldn’t be made.
Jesus claimed to be ONE with the Father, so he claimed to be God hence the crucifixion but He also rose from the dead defeating death, I follow the living not the dead.

Dr. Cassandra's lectures are like a black hole, once you fall into it you can never get out. I feel so lucky to be his student. He widened my vision a lot. Even if you already know and never noticed, he offers you lots of surprising perspectives to see different pictures of a point. He is really amazing. Actually, he rewrites the history . In fact, He is Heredotus of the modern era.

Have you lied (even once in your entire life), looked with lust (sexual desire), dishonoured parents, stolen anything, had hatred towards someone, had premarital sex, adultery etc If you answered yes to any one of the above then you are a sinner like the rest of us.
