      We don’t void warranty if the wire is tapped correctly, and it can be done UNCORRECTLY even with a Stealth Cover. By that I mean you can run the set screw too far into the PSG and ruin it, which will in turn void your warranty.

    My pump was already wire tapped. What should I do to the wire to protect it after I install this pump cover and tap?

    • @thoroughbreddiesel
      @thoroughbreddiesel  9 місяців тому

      Leave the tap in place to retain continuity, just cut the supply wire to the module at the tap would be my suggestion.

    When you take off the old cover, sometimes a small rectangular o-ring sticks to it, don't forget to put it back on top of the PSG before installing the stealth cover. It will protect the terminals of the timing sensor from water, dust, etc. (top left position of pump if you are looking at the pump with the plug facing towards you).

      I would like to simply drill a hole in my Thoroughbred Diesel Pump cover, tap it and reuse it. Why not?

    I have a BMW e46 320d MFY: 2000 (Not common-rail engine) my injection pump not working. can I use this BD cover to fix it? and what purpose that you fix this BD cover? my pump is a Bosch part.

      You more than likely have a VP30. This pump cover will do nothing to help you.

      +Thoroughbred Diesel All E46 320d's have VP44. Except for common-rail ones.

      No, this cover doesn't fix a faulty pump. It just gives you a more convenient and reliable wiring connection for an aftermarket power up chip to connect to.

    All this just to get an ignition powered (switched battery positive) point? Am I missing something?

      @@douganderson7002 or to keep warranty on the pump

    • @jdillon8360
      @jdillon8360 3 роки тому +1

      No, it's so you can then interrupt or modify the actuation of the fuel on/off solenoid if you install an aftermarket power up chip. The test with the light or multimeter is just to confirm that the tapping screw made a good connection.

    • @MrGoogelaar
      @MrGoogelaar 3 роки тому

      @@jdillon8360 Still think it is an overkill, all you want is a switched battery positive so why all this? Really unnecessary.

    • @jdillon8360
      @jdillon8360 3 роки тому +3

      @@MrGoogelaar No, it's not so you can have a switched battery positive. It's so you can interfere with the operation of the fuel pump solenoid on the pump, not at the fuse box level, if that's what you're thinking. You either do it this way, or tap into the wire, which doesn't look as neat and often leads to bad connections. I'm guessing you don't own a vehicle with a VP44, you seem not to see why this product is useful.

      Thoroughbred diesel says that if you cut that wire your VP warranty is void. There are some taps that work OK, and others that risk cutting the wire when it is installed. Either one can allow moisture in as they are not sealed. Moisture causes corrosion,Corrosion causes electrical failure. I’m not going to void the warranty because I don’t want to spend a little more money and take a little time to install this cover. But that’s just my opinion.

    Does using the stealth cover void your warranty on you 24 month vp44 pump

    • @thoroughbreddiesel
      @thoroughbreddiesel  6 років тому

      Installing a stealth cover will not void your warranty, but an improper installation of the Stealth Cover will. The Stealth Cover itself will also not save you from a warranty denied situation that our fuel shop deems to be caused by the fueling module. If you would like to give us a call at (866) 737-4966 we would be more than happy to discuss this.
